Fan gets signed Dan Snyder photo in response to plea to keep Kirk Cousins

When Washington fan Matt Fraedrich wrote a personal letter to Dan Snyder in December, what he was hoping to get out of it was a long-term commitment from the franchise to quarterback Kirk Cousins. What he actually got was something very different.

Fraedrich got a signed photograph of team owner Daniel Snyder.

“There wasn’t even a cover letter or anything,” Fraedrich told the Washington Post. “Just one photo of Dan Snyder, signed.”

What Fraedrich had asked for was for Snyder to keep Cousins around, something Snyder did not do.

“Please give Kirk Cousins a long-term deal that makes him happy to be Redskin, even if that means making him the highest-paid player in NFL history. Thank you,” Fraedrich wrote in his original letter.

Fraedrich said that’s all in the past and he’s now going to cheer for the team’s new quarterback, Alex Smith. But he referred to Snyder responding to his letter with an autographed picture of himself as ” kind of a jackass move.”

  1. Lolz over under on the number of seconds it took before that photo was in the trash can.

  2. What is the fan complaining about?
    He got a unique, extremely valuable autograph.
    Think about how much an autograph of Ty Cobb or Babe Ruth is worth.
    Nothing compared to a Snyder.
    In 100 years this will be worth 10 billion dollars.
    Of course right now it’s worth a roll of toilet paper.

  3. Here is the response you should give your owner as a “thank you” note…

    NARCISSISM: “extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one’s own talents and a craving for admiration, as characterizing a personality type”

  4. Snyder did try to offer Cousins a contract a few different times but he and his agent didn’t respond to it or make a counter offer. He just wanted out and there was nothing Snyder or Allen could do about it. Except franchise him twice.

  5. W-O-W.
    You sir deserve a kick in the nads.

    If I were a Redkins fan I’d go cheer for the Ravens. what a joke of an owner.

  6. “Hey Dan, this fan really wants you to do the right thing for once.”

    “I got it… send him a signed photo of me, that’ll do the trick.”

  7. the Jets tried out for KC too…can I have an autographed picture of Dan Synder too?

    I always wanted a picture of a business man!

  8. So, in other words, he got the same machine-stamped “signed” photo the intern stuffs in an envelope in response to every non-profane letter to Dan Snyder.

  9. Yes, Snyder is a train wreck as an owner. However, what was the anticipated response? Did the fan think Snyder was gonna be like, “This guy’s right, sign him!” Or did the fan expect a personal response? Snyder is a total joke, but he ain’t Santa Claus either….

  10. He only wanted to be a Viking. He never wanted to stay in Washington, he didn’t want to sign with Denver, NY, or Cleveland even though two of the three could have offered more money. He knows where his best chance is, and it’s Minnesota as a Viking. Smart dude indeed.

  11. Great idea. I am going to send Washington an autographed picture of me. Would be great if all of us football fans did this. Just inundate them with signed pics of us. Well, I would get a kick out of it anyway.

  12. Snyder did try to offer Cousins a contract a few different times via letter, but he and his agent didn’t respond to it or make a counter offer…

    …they simply sent a signed photo of Cousins by return post.

    Dan did the right thing!! Move on from below 500 QB
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Below .500 because he had a terrible supporting cast, and below average coaching. Now you will see the real potential of Kirk Cousins. If he averaged over 4000 yards and 25 TD’s a season with that team, he will be a 5000 yard passer, and 30 TD guy with the Vikes.
    They got the better QB of the two.
    ————
    How so? Alex Smith has been on a way better teams and hardly any playoffs wins. Alex Smith has had a top offensive line, run game, and defense. Top TE, etc.
    Cousin’s has had no run game, or lack of identity in the RB position, a bottom ranked defense, and no name receivers and yet has put up better stats than Alex Smith. Judging from your name your just a someone who trolls the Vikings.
    The fact is we don’t really know which one is better. One has more wins and less stats and played on quality teams, the other has played on bad teams and has stats but lacks Wins.
    If Alex Smith wins more games than Cousin’s in Washington I’ll agree with you. Until than your comment has absolutely no reasoning behind it, except you don’t like the Vikings and want to troll.
    Oh good. Viking fan #194 is able to predict the future, like 193 before him.
    Tell us, does your crystal ball predict a SuperBowl victory for the Vikings this year? Please tell us!
  16. I am inclined to think that Snyder did it on purpose opposed to an accidental mishap.
  17. It is now a collector’s item. Every true Redskins fan will also want a signed photo of Daniel Snyder – the billionaire owner who listens to the fans.
    Stellar way to over analyze this. It’s a fact Cousin’s put up great stats with bad teams. It’s understandable to reason he will probably put up similar status or better with a better team.
    I actually think his stats will go down a bit. He will throw for less yards and TD’s because MN has a better running game and defense. But I think he will win more games.
    Why are you on this story anyways? You give us Vikings fans a hard time for always being on Packers stories, but this story has nothing to do with your team.
    Living proof that a SUCKER is born every 60 seconds.
  20. Ya Dan Snyder Knows all about this, he signed it and sealed it in an envelope and walked it down to the post office himself.
    Terrible supporting cast? Are you talking about RGIII’s rookie season? That was a terrible supporting cast and he led that awful, awful team to a winning record and the playoffs.
    Kirk had a much better team around him, and he has shown no ability to win important games. Perhaps that will change in Minnesota.
  22. I’m sure the guy sees Snyder’s reply as a sort of confirmation now. Hell, we’ve known for just about 20 years what kind of fellow (sic) the little general is.
    Kirk had a decent support cast in 2015 I believe. He had Djax, a good O-Line, Jordon Reed, maybe (can’t remember) and some other good WR. Also Morris was playing good. So they made it to the Playoffs, BUT! They had a bottom defense. So when they made it to the playoffs, Aaron Rodgers smoked them. SO even thou 2015 he had a decent supporting cast, it was the defense that cost them a playoff game. In 2016 I believe they lost more players on Offense, and the defense still remained a bottom unit. 2017 they shipped all the WR’s away, and had no running back. Rob Kelly a starting running back? And the defense still allowing 30 points a game.
    You getting my point? On the one year he had a decent Offense supporting cast he did make it to the playoffs, but it’s the defense that let him down. Does he play defense? Defense is a reason why Green Bay gets bounced from the playoffs each year to.
  24. I think the implicit message Snyder sent with the signed photograph is “you’re stuck with me as Redskins owner whether you like it or not, so in your face”
    You might be right, if he would have brought the rest of the Redskins with him. To bad for you he didn’t.
  26. Should have sent him a signed picture of Captain Kirk saying this was the o my thing I could get him to sign!
  29. Dan Snyder reminds me of Papa John
    except less pits in his face
    Redskins been horrible for a while
    still
    The Ford family rules when it comes to not knowing how to field a winning product-
    going to be another bad year for the kittens of the midwest- 3rd toughest schedule
    number one rated QB with losses against winning team in a 5 plus career as a starter
  30. Notable achievements during Snyder’s 18 years of ownership:
    8 head coaches
    .436 winning percentage
    5 playoff appearances
    2-7 playoff record
    0 NFC championships
    0 Super Bowl appearances
