Report: Steelers listening to offers for Martavis Bryant

Martavis Bryant wants to find a team that will use him more, which is why he asked for a trade before the deadline last season. The Steelers now appear open to a trade for the wide receiver at the right price, with Dan Graziano of ESPN reporting that the team has been “quietly listening to offers.”

The Steelers obviously would like to avoid sending him to Baltimore or New England, two teams that could use another talented receiver.

Bryant is in the final year of his contract and scheduled to make a team-friendly $1.91 million this season.

He played the third-most offensive snaps of the team’s wide receivers last season but wants more chances than the 84 targets he had last season, even though that ranked third on the team behind only running back Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. Both Bell and Brown earned All-Pro honors.

Bryant made 50 catches, fourth on the team, for 603 yards and three touchdowns last season after missing the 2016 season.

It will take an enticing offer for the Steelers, a Super Bowl-contending team, to part ways with Bryant.

  1. If Dallas wants to swap their first round pick for our first round pick, that might do it.

  2. The only problem is he will want Hall of Famer money, cause In his mind, he’s alteady been enshrined…

  3. Not happening. Steelers have minimal WR depth behind AB, Bryant, and JJSS. Even with Bryant, they need to draft a WR this year or pick up a FA.

Someone would have to offer something ridiculously stupid in exchange for Bryant for this to be remotely worthwhile. Alternatively, Colbert would have to have gone nuts.

  4. Even considering his past suspension (which means he is one misstep from another longer suspension) and the fact that he could be a one year rental, he is talented. Definitely worth a risk for the right price.

  5. I’m sorry, does that say “superbowl contending team”?
Did I miss the Tomlin firing?

Pitt in cap hell unable to spread the money around appropriately

Oh Really? I didn’t know you were a CPA, in addition to being a Pat’s fanboy, Mr. Law.

Super Bowl-contending team lol not with that defense! Not with a running back who uses the teams playoff preparation to start leveraging future contract negotiations. Not with a HC who couldn’t scheme his way though a game of tic-tac-toe.

dont mind him he thinks every team is in cap hell except the pats. he is still trying to figure out how the cap works.

  9. Wherever he goes, he won’t be up to his usual shenanigans where he’s constantly being suspended. Only in Pittsburgh is the atmosphere so toxic that that stuff is allowed to continue. This is why the Steelers are officially a one-and-done playoff team. No discipline. Everybody’s “Me first!”

Be prepared to send your number 1. Doubt that happens so Mb’s staying in the burg.

    Dude, seriously? The best year this guy ever had was 760 yards on 50 catches…and he’s a headcase! a #1? THAT’S LAUGHABLE. He’s not worth a 5th!!!

  11. Brandon Cooks was a 1st, Bryant should be no less than a 2nd, or 7-8 spots swap in the 1st.

  12. “He played the third-most offensive snaps of the team’s wide receivers last season but wants more chances than the 84 targets he had last season”

He wouldn’t any more than that with the Pats, that’s for sure. Not with Edelman and Gronk ahead of him in the pecking order

While he’s often wrong when he posts his cap hell comments, a quick search online shows Pitt currently has only $2,672,966 in cap available with their top 51 players included. Typically the rookie pool requires around 5 million to pay them, so Pitt does have a cap issue at the moment.

  14. Anyone who thinks the Steelers will trade Bryant for a 4th or 5th round pick needs to get their head Examined. This guy is a Number 1 Receiver period. The least the Steelers will take will be a 2nd rounder.

Dallas wouldn’t have to print a new jersey or marketing materials.

Yes they would. This guy wouldn’t get #88.

If the Steelers believe Bryant will yield a 1st or 2nd round pick then Bryant will be playing for the Steelers again next season

Just because BB fleeced Les Snead for Cooks doesn’t mean a non-accomplished Bryant is worth a 1st rder and a 12-14 mil per contract that he thinks he can command.

  18. Potential to be a great player, and the number one receiver for some team. Higher potential to be a good player that always is dissatisfied with his salary and treatment by the team, thinking he would be much better than his stats show, if only allowed by QB or Coaches. Buyer beware on this one.

  19. Hard to justify a high pick on a player likely to get suspended AGAIN at some point and with his history, almost anything would make that a year long suspension. I hope he doesn’t because he is a great talent when his head is on straight.

  20. He could be worth it to a WR-needy team but he’s going to be high maintenance. I’ll be surprised if someone doesn’t make a deal for him and Pittsburgh will be happy to be rid of him.

  21. Arizona,Dallas, jaguarand Panters should make a move on him at best a 3rd pick tho.

  22. Dallas NEEDS to do this quickly!!!! A 4th round pick and a 2019 5th round pick should do it. Sign him long term and let it ride. With such a trade the Cowboys could focus on strengthening the defense in this draft.

Dream on its just the opposite. This guy will be a malcontent in the locker room
in Pitts …which is obvious already. Also one indecression away from long term suspension. Pittsburgh will be happy to get what they can.
