Tampa columnist calls for Bucs to cut Jameis Winston

Getty Images

The local backlash for Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has begun.

With a three-game suspension looming for violation of the league’s Personal Conduct Policy in connection with a March 2016 incident involving an Uber driver, a columnist for the Tampa Bay Times urges the team to take the next step and release Winston.

“[W]hat did he do?” Tom Jones of the Times writes of Winston. “He allegedly grabbed a woman’s crotch against her will. That’s disgusting and reprehensible. This was more than partying that got a little out of hand. We need to call it what it was: sexual assault. And this isn’t the first time those awful two words have been associated with Winston. . . .

“The Bucs should send a message to the community that they do not accept, condone nor tolerate this kind of conduct. Not from anybody, but especially not from the starting quarterback and the face of the franchise. They should say that who they are and what they stand for as an organization means more than winning football games at any cost, including its integrity.”

If the Buccaneers decide to take extreme action against Winston, it would cost them nothing. His compensation of nearly $3.9 million for 2018 was fully guaranteed when Winston’s contract was signed, but the suspension most likely will void the guarantee. And his $20.9 million salary for 2019 is guaranteed for injury only until March of next year; if he’s released before then, the payment is avoided.

But the money isn’t the issue. The issue is whether the Buccaneers will be willing or able to tolerate keeping in their employment a franchise quarterback with a history of off-field incidents (including a rape allegation at Florida State) and a suspension for committing what indeed amounts to a sexual assault of a stranger who was being paid to give him a ride in a car.

What the Buccaneers ultimately do will be driven in large part by the local reaction to the suspension. Which could be why Winston’s camp hand picked a Jameis-friendly radio host in Tallahassee to leak the notion that Winston was being suspended simply for failing to report an allegation and not for the underlying behavior.

Winston and his team know that much more than three games ultimately rides on how this news is received and processed in Tampa. The same societal dynamics that prompted the Uber driver to come forward could cause this incident to take on a life of its own, possibly ending Winston’s career as a Buccaneer.

Where this goes may depend on the contents of the traditional letter informing Winston of his suspension. That letter likely will spell out in detail the basis for the punishment. It also will provide the starting point for what could become a viable push to pressure the Buccaneers to part ways with a player who has the potential to become a short-list franchise quarterback.

  1. “winning at any cost” doesn’t apply to the bucs, they consistently lose…
integrity left the Bucs organization the moment it was announced – “and the bucs select: Jameis [the troubled one] winston”

  2. That young lady was believable when he was in college, and now he has proven what he is. No more denials Winston, you can’t lie your way out of this.

  3. A little history lesson with this post from a 20 year season ticket holder of Bucs. Tom jones hates Winston and often writes only negative articles on the Bucs. This isn’t the 1st time he has wrote such things. All of us will never know the truth so we can only rely on facts and 1 fact is no one including Uber still has called the police and non this nfl era of PR, it’s not about guilt or innocence

  4. Given the current political climate, I am interested in how it would play out if he were released. Would any team even give him a look? In the past, guys who get cut over legal incidents would stay away until the heat died down, then slink back into the league on a “prove it” deal. I was surprised Mike Vick made a comeback, but he at least paid his debt to society, technically speaking. If Jameis gets cut for this reason though, and has no jail time to do, I think he would remain radioactive for the rest of his playing years. Heck even Canada might not touch him. And would the new AAFL (?) want to risk letting him play? If he does get cut, I think his only option would be XFL.

  5. He isn’t going to be cut. That is absurd. How the hell does Tom Jones still have a job in Tampa. He’s a hack steeler fan that bashes the Bucs every chance he gets. I have no idea why a Tampa media company would hire a guy that puts down the local sports teams.

  6. Tom Jones is a hack. Nothing changed with the news of the suspension. Why not write this article months ago? Pretty hard to prove innocence in a he said/she said case. Did he expect JW to be exonerated? We all know the damage is done when the accusation is levied. No one cares about anything else.

  7. A lot will depend on the political leanings of the Buc’s ownership. If they support the views of our Groper-In-Chief, this will not affect him at all. If they don’t fear the Fearless Leader, Winston may wind up fighting for a back-up job in the CFL…

  8. Winston should run for President. Apparently this conduct is ok if you’re running for President

  9. Zeke gets accused of Sexual Assault .. suspended 6 games. Winston gets accused of Sexual Assault.. suspended 3 games. Goddell’s random wheel of Justice spins again.

  10. Fantasy…Fiction…Will never happen if there is a 10% chance they think he is a Franchise QB.

  11. The key word is “allegedly”. Anyone can make up a story about anyone. Does that mean we should believe every accusation thrown out there? If it’s proven that he did this then maybe cut him. We’ve all gotten so used to instant gratification instead of letting facts and evidence tell the true story.

  12. As a Titans fan I’m glad TB threw the game late in the year to lock down that 1st pick that year. I was so mad at the time….

  13. He should be in prison. Most likely finds his way there ala darren sharper and the soldier. Plenty of good guys in the nfl, but the rotten apples give the rest of them a bad name.

  14. Tom Jones of the Times writes of Winston. “He allegedly grabbed a woman’s crotch against her will”. The key word in here is allegedly. Evidently this so called writer has never heard of this term. Typical media, making up crap that will stir the pot and supposedly make the article sway the public view. You people make me sick!!

  15. My question is why should they release him based off of this. No charges filed, he said/she said situation, suspension was only 3 games. If the NFL had a slam-dunk case, they would not have suspended him for only 3 games. NFL doesn’t seem to care if you appeal. Brady and Zeke were much bigger names and their appeal cases never really had a chance.

  16. We don’t have Rodgers Brady manning Flutie, Bradshaw, Young, Montana, even IN a situation where someone is accusing them of that BS. And we can go trough all the technicalities you want and shout Innocent until proven.
You don’t see Tom Brady paying a university of Michigan woman $800,000 just to ‘get her to go away but he’s still innocent’

Then stealing crab legs and yelling whatever the phrase was going around then.

Anyone can defend jamis and his accusers pay day as people do constantly. If you can read someone’s character after a while then you have already bigger issues in life. No character for jemison

  17. For Winston to reportedly accept punishment for “failure to report an incident”, he, in effect, is admitting that a sexual assault actually took place. If he DIDN’T assault the UBER driver, there wouldn’t have been an incident to report. The NFL should, at the very least, punish him with a 3 game suspension for the assault AND 3 more for his failure to report it.

  18. “[W]hat did he do?” Tom Jones of the Times writes of Winston. “He allegedly grabbed a woman’s crotch against her will.”

That kind of reprehensible behavior can get you elected as the President…

  19. Its not unusual for tom jones to bash on Jameis.
Its not unusual for tom jones to bash on the Bucs.
But when he says we need to get rid of Jameis.
Its not unusual to see me mad.
    Tom Jones is bad.

  20. Amen to that.
Seriously folks…aside from Favre, has there ever been a successful Qb who couldn’t string 3 sentences together?

Granted we are talking FL, but still.

  21. 3 games seems low. I guess 6 for a questionable domestic event (which if it happened should result in an arrest and civil suit,…why no civil suit Zeke?…) or 3 for sexual assault. Weird.

  22. Agreed with the columnist. Unfortunate that the team won’t have the stones to do it. The guy has gotten ahead in life by having the ability to throw a piece of leather.

  23. In Winston’s defense, the President of the United States said it’s okay to grab women by the yahoohoo. Florida voted for Trump, so they obviously agree.

  24. > allegedly

This has not been proven and he is entitled to due process.

Frankly, the evidence against Winston is shaky at best. He should be suspended for failing to report the issue.

He isn’t a very good player, so maybe he should be cut…..but at least do it for the right reasons.

  25. They never should have drafted him in the first place. The guy was a giant red flag in college on the field and off.

  26. So now that the league has ruled on a 2 year old case, a beat writer in Tampa now wants him cut for something that hasn’t been proven. Why didn’t he say this 2 years ago if he is that appalled…

  27. Sooooo let’s assume the Buccaneers take the moral high road and cut Winston. Okay cool. Then what? Obviously the Buccaneers get NOTHING in return. Winston gets gets claimed off of waivers by team X. Team X spews the ‘blah blah blah Winston deserves a second chance and Team X has done their due diligence regarding this unfortunate matter. Team X is confident that Winston will learn and grow as a person from this experience blah blah blah…’ We’ve all have seen this before. Unless the league, as a whole, blackballs Winston after he is cut, which is obviously illegal, then the Buccaneers are just stupid if they cut him. Kaepernick Is waging a huge legal battle against the NFL for collusion as we speak. Not taking any stance regarding Kaepernick either. Just stating the fact. And let’s not forget about Elliott’s suspension for the same accusations that Winston is going to suspend for. Quite similar at the very least. Elliott is still a Cowboy though. So Mr. Jones while I agree that Winston’s actions are COMPLETELY reprehensible and agree with your opinion in principle there’s just no advantage for the Buccaneers to cut Winston outright. Collusion withstanding of course. But again that’s illegal. The Buccaneers only recourse is to ‘stand by their teammate and weather the storm until it blows over.’ If Winston was a 10th string punter or something then he would have been cut as soon as these accusations came to light. Buuuuut Winston is a 1st string starting QB in the NFL. Talent always trumps morals in the NFL. So he ain’t going nowhere. This ‘same old same old’ will always be the standard until the CBA is renegotiated to get these scumbags permanently banned from playing in the NFL. Sadly that’s the truth and Winston will still be the Buccaneers starting QB.

  28. Oh shut up. Show me the proof. You clearly don’t get out much, women are liars with this crap, not always to be insensative but happens a lot. Until there is actual evidence it’s innocent until proven guilty.

  29. Unfortunately in the NFL these things tend to just “blow over” and forgotten over time. I’m not saying it’s right but it is the way it goes

How many times has Ben Roethlisberger’s issues from years ago surfaced recently? Zero. Sad but true. How about Brett Favre texting a picture of his private part to the girl who worked for the Jets? Sure did keep him out of the Hall of Fame, didn’t it?

Tampa has invested a lot in Winston and will forgive and forget. Like I said, it’s unfortunate but it is what it is.

  30. If guilty, he should be out of the league.
If innocent of the sexual assault and only guilty of failing to report the allegation, then 3 games seems excessive.

Winston is adjust a PR nightmare.

  31. First, he isn’t anywhere near being a “franchise Quarterback.” He certainly isn’t good enough to warrant the backlash and headache. What he IS however is a lowlife and a sexual deviant of the worst kind. The fact Goodell gave what amounts to a slap on the wrist is a travesty in itself. Tom Jones is correct, Tampa Bay should cut bait with this sorry excuse for a human being and show some integrity.

  32. As an Eagles fan who was not happy about the initial signing of Mike Vick, if I were a Bucs fan that attempted to keep a moral compass and continue to follow the NFL, I’d be disgruntled if the they did not cut JW. That said, Mike Vick made tangible progress in his attempted redemption. What will this guy do?

  33. Funny how people only start calling for his firing once he got suspended. Just another click generating hot take. If the bucs actually had immediately fired Jameis I’m sure this “columnist” would have called them idiots for getting rid of their franchise #1 draft pick.

  34. It’s real hard to stop this kind of freight train in the #metoo movement times we are in, Winston may never play again. The next 2 weeks will decide it. Not saying it will happen, but crazier things have happened.

  35. Depressing. If this was a 3rd string QB for the Bucs he’ll be cut. As its Winston he’ll get pass after pass from the Bucs.

I’m no fan of the Pats but fair play to them for cutting Hernandez the second they heard about the allegations years back

  36. Gotta be honest……I’ve hated Ole ROG quite a while. But have to admit……this dude is giving Ole ROG a run for the money.

  37. The only thing worse than a feminazi are the men who clutch their own pearls of outrage.

  38. @Trubuc22

Probably because the Tampa fans are horrid fairweather fans and have no sense of loyalty. Why should the local media be favorable when the fans are a joke?

  39. As many others have said, it is astonishing that this behavior is considered so reprehensible that a guy should not be allowed to play football, but it is OK for the President of the United States.

  40. chargersbackinsd says:

Winston should run for President. Apparently this conduct is ok if you’re running for President
    ==================================================

Just don’t lie about it under oath or you’ll get impeached and lose your law license.

  41. 3 games really.
Until suspensions make any sense players and owners, hello Jim Irsay, will roll the dice and see what side if the bed Goodell wakes up on.

4 games for not cooperating and destroying a cell phone.
4 games for 2 rape charges..then dropped..wonder what the payout was.
    Zeke Elliott, enough said…
4 games for taking the wrong vitamin supplement….
Sell your team for verbal indescretions…..and a back rub.

Integrity of the shield is really confusing.

  42. All these people swinging around the word “allegedly,” as if that proves his innocence. When an accusation is made, that doesn’t mean he’s guilty. It also doesn’t mean he’s innocent. When a man is accused of sexual assault, he’s not innocent just because you hate feminism.

The report is this: Winston’s former FSU teammate, Ronald Darby, said the assault didn’t happen, we knew that a long time ago. Now we learn that Darby wasn’t in the Uber for the entire ride–there was more than one leg of the trip, and he was only there part of the time. We hadn’t heard that before. It is also reported that the NFL looked at “electronic information” in determining this suspension–do you have access to that information, so that you can proclaim him innocent? The NFL investigated; they’re not going to release the evidence, and that’s the end of what you know.

I’m not suggesting he’s guilty, and he obviously isn’t going to be cut–Tom Jones is a hack, you can read his horribly written junk piece and see that immediately. But people saying “allegedly” like it proves Winston is innocent need to grow a brain.

  43. Why is anyone surprised with Winston?

After all, he’s in the NFL (National Felons League), isn’t he?

  44. I’m 100% ok with what Jameis Winston supposedly did to a women, and apparently most voters in America are ok with that kind of behavior too. We do live in a democracy, so we get to determine what kind of country we want to live in. Women, you’re on your own. At least Jameis wasn’t doing something bad, like smoking pot. Then the NFL would have really thrown the book at him. Our government might not protect our women, but they’re sure looking out for the drug companies that don’t want to compete with marijuana.

  45. This “person” is a perfect example of why so many once-fans are turning away from the NFL in droves. His history of demonstrating poor character, and obvious criminal acts for which he was given a pass because of his athletic prowess, is, unfortunately, not the least bit uncommon in the NFL. I’d have to question the wisdom of any team in the NFL that would want to keep this man around – it’s clear that this type of behavior will continue, as witnessed by his actions in several incidents dating back to his college days. But no – I wouldn’t single him out as being unique – the NFL has shown already that it cares little for good character.

  46. Not surprised progressives want this guy as President given their love for Bill “Busy Hands” Clinton.

  47. He’s not that good of a player.
When people talked about his issues coming out of college, they said he needed to mature. Sexually assaulting someone doesn’t make you immature, it makes you a bad person. Thisguy is bad and will always be that way. Dump him now when it costs you nothing.

  48. For those of you wondering how hacks like Tom Jones still have a job, here’s how. Today, journalism no longer has anything to do with fairness in reporting. It’s all about “hits” to the newspaper’s online columns. That’s how today’s publishers judge a columnist’s success. It doesn’t matter if an article is only about sensationalism. In fact, that’s usually a plus. The more sensational, the more people are going to click on it and comment on it and the happier it makes a columnist’s managing editors when they can show advertisers all the hits the columnist’s article has earned.

    ———————————————-

The behavior is not okay for anyone, which is why the football player is being suspended, and it is one of dozens of reasons that the majority of American voters had the good sense and intelligence to not vote for the current president.

Yesterday there were comments about how punishments have a racial component and that black players are punished more harshly than white players. Would love to hear from these folks on the Zeke/JW disparity.

  51. What is this? A person in the media is actually calling for Winston to be held personally accountable for his actions/choices?
    I am absolutely shocked.

Mike Vick was charged and convicted before all that fell on him. Winston did not avoid jail by beating charges, he wasnt even charged. Its a he said/she said that never even went to the cops. I agree Winston has issues and somehow I suspect an incident that does catch him could still be coming someday if he doesnt make some big changes in himself, but that future incident needs to happen begore anyone punishes him for it. Punishing him now on an unproven allegation (which means its very possible he is innocent….this time) is not a good precedent and cutting him (and radioactivizing as suggested) would be totally over the top.

In this internet/social media age public opinion and mob mentality is more and more supplanting due process. Decisions on guilt or innocence are being made based more on PR concerns rather than evidence. Sure sometimes public opinion is correct, but not always and it should not be something that matters more than what the facts are really.

I don’t remember Matt Lauer, Charlie Rose, Heath Evans, Bill O’Reilly, etc being charged. They were all fired from their jobs.

  55. Just Jameis being Jameis.
Tampa had plenty of information on his character when they drafted him. Now they get to experience it firsthand. But it will take yet another incident in the future for them to even consider cutting him. The Uber Episode won’t dissuade the Bucs one bit.

  56. Well, last I checked Winston isn’t exactly helping them win a ton of games. They are likely to finish last in the NFC South again… so…. Do you really want to extend this guys contract right now? Or franchise him? I guess if you could get a team friendly deal maybe you extend him, despite the bad press. Bad situation. A lot of people were worried about exactly this type of situation when Winston was being evaluated in the draft.

  57. The key word is “allegedly”. He is being suspended for failure to report the accusation, not for committing anything because that hasn’t been proven.

    ——–

    Tell that to Matt Lauer

  59. We need to know the reason for the suspension, as Florio said. However, it does not make sense if there is no suspension for the alleged sexual assault. The League needs to clarify this.

And for those making this political, it is easy to point to the President and ridicule the people that voted for him, but apparently everyone that voted for Hilary forgets her blaming the victims of Bill’s sexual assaults/rape. So who did you vote for: a crotch grabber or a victim blamer who trashed her husbands victims? Let’s face it, this past election was more of a no vote, meaning I can’t vote for that other person, but I will hold my nose and vote for the other.

  60. “Zeke gets accused of Sexual Assault .. suspended 6 games. Winston gets accused of Sexual Assault.. suspended 3 games. Goddell’s random wheel of Justice spins again.”

The Bucs are no threat to either of the NY teams or any of the rest of Goodell’s chose few of the Giants, Jets, Donks, Ravens, Colts and Steelers whereas the Cowboys are direct competition to the Giants.

  61. I’m not one of these Kaepernick guys who thinks he deserves to have a job. But this just shows you how dumb these “respect the flag” trump lovers are. One guy protests by kneeling and another guy has been accused of sexual assault twice. A Kaepernick story on here gets 1000 comments from these “patriots”.

  62. When did it become acceptable for reporters to go from reporting the news to becoming the news?

  63. Did they cut Roethlisberger when he got busted (twice)? Some people have very short memories:

“The two rape accusations—one levied in civil court after an alleged attack at a Lake Tahoe hotel in 2008 and settled in ’12, the other allegedly committed in ’10 and dropped a month later after Georgia prosecutors declined to press charges.”

  64. If the Bucs cut Winston, it will be because of his spotty play, immaturity, lack of development on the field, and poor leadership skills. They will hide behind this suspension as an excuse, but the fact is he has not earned the $20 million salary he is owed next year and they are most likely looking for ways out at this point anyway

  65. Half the country voted Trump to be president. He admittedly does the same things to women that Winston is being accused of. If Winston should be fired, so should Trump.

…Thats odd. You’re side didnt protest ole Bill Clinton when he raped and molested women while IN the White house

  69. This writer votes for trump but can’t handle having Winston on his local sports team and they both accused of same crime….crazy times in this country….

  70. Jones’ hate-filled screed is living proof that the South hasn’t changed one bit – and never will.

If there is another Civil War around the corner, I say let them secede this time around.

  71. ok… here is a deal for everyone….

    1) Winston forfeits his salary to the UBER driver he accosted this year. ( Full salary not suspension less salary, More out of his pocket)
    2) The team adds it’s own 3 game suspension on top of the NFL.
    3) Winston signs up as an UBER driver this off season and must drive 15 hours a week for 10 weeks. Again forfeiting his wages to the UBER driver he accosted.

  72. This will all be forgotten in a couple of years, and Winston will go on to have a good career. I’m not judging whether that’s right or wrong, I’m just saying that’s what will happen. People have already forgotten about Big Ben, right? Winning gives people a short memory.

I hate the NFL’s justice system. I thought Tom Brady got screwed, was pretty sure Zeke got screwed, and now am 50-50 on whether Winston is getting screwed. But all with next to no evidence.

  73. If “Kate” the driver decides to come forward and pursue charges his career is over. Folks can defend Winston and claim he’s a target all they want but it won’t change the pattern. His behavioral history demonstrates who he is. Accused, acquitted or cutting a check…it’s a pattern and that’s what we know. 53 spots on NFL rosters multiplied by 32 teams equals 1696 jobs…He must be the unluckiest guy in the world…..Somebody always falsely accusing poor Jameis.

The fact is, Winston has been accused of this type of thing for the 2nd time. Where there’s smoke, there is usually fire. After all, I know people who still think Bill Cosby is innocent because they loved his tv show.
Just because Winston plays QB in the NFL does not give him the right to do these kinds of things.

He should however hire a PI to look into everything this columnist has ever done and expose him for the fraud I’m sure he is.

  78. Some of you people are hypocrites. To echo a previous comment, did any of you call for Big Ben to be cut? Did any of you raise a stink over Kaps’ situation? And for doing the same thing by his own admission did any of you call for the ouster(impeachment) of #45 for his antics? I mention him because he interjected himself into the sports arena. There are so many cases where you should protest but you don’t, i.e., NE Pats multiple cheating(allegedly),the NFL rejection of concussion/TBI to players. People please stop the madness and get off the band wagon. So, please forgive me for dropping the race card , but check it out for yourselves. Same on y’all!

  79. I knew this dude was messed up when he showed everyone his favorite childhood spot to piss on hard knocks. I think he was trying to show people they didn’t have indoor plumbing or something. It didn’t come across very well as he came off like a pervert.

psj3809 says: I’m no fan of the Pats but fair play to them for cutting Hernandez the second they heard about the allegations years back

Giving credit for the Pats cutting Hernandez? The guy was responsible for MULTIPLE murders. Wow, the Pats really showed morals in that move. LOL

    ————
Yes, we can all be reasonably sure (backed by evidence even if he isnt currently convicted) of three murders. And we all suspect there is a fourth one despite not having any way to prove it. But Im not sure your point. The poster you are challenging is correct that the Pats cut him the same day the allegations surfaced. As soon as the word came out that the car they were seeking had been rented by Hernandez (and at that point thats the only thing that was known) Kraft asked him that morning point blank if he knew anything about it and he said no so Kraft took him at face value until things could unfold a little more. But the next day the police reported that they had now identified Hernandez as an actual suspect and it came out at the same time that he was also refusing to cooperate in the investigation. About an hour after that was the press release saying he was cut. At the time the Pats got a lot of flack for presuming guilt before any of it had been established. Their response was that his refusal to cooperate with the police in a murder investigation was of its own grounds for dismissal. That point has mattered because the guilt never did get legally established (his death nullified his conviction) so his family tried to say without the murders proven (legally) his termination was improper and sued the Pats for his back salary. But the Patriots won that case because regardless of whether the murders were ever proven (legally) the Pats had terminated him for the refusal to cooperate in a murder investigation” and that refusal itself was already established fact.

  81. They could do better than him at QB, that’s for sure. Having said that, he does have some value on the market and would therefore be better traded

Winston should run for President. Apparently this conduct is ok if you’re running for President

President Trump actually came onto women & had consenusual relationships with them, unlike president Clinton who has been accused of rape by multiple different women, and then even paid one women off he sexually assaulted to make her go away. All the women who have spoken out against Trump have OPENLY said they were WILLING PARTICIPANTS in a sexual relationship with him, Big Difference. Funny how progressives never spoke out against Clinton’s and his rape but wanna bring up one lewd comment Trump made every chance they get.

I find it hard to believe guys just go up and grab girls crotches. That’s just weird

Times have changed I guess. I was brought up to respect everyone. Curious what Winstons early life was like, you would think something happened to make him a predator.

Jones’ hate-filled screed is living proof that the South hasn’t changed one bit – and never will.
If there is another Civil War around the corner, I say let them secede this time around.

Funny, more and more people that live in the South are from the North.

Just as weird as jumping up on a table in the college café and yelling female-body part-related obscenities, eating W’s, stealing crab legs, or sexually assaulting a girl , which FSU and the cops covered up for him? He did all of these things and probably more that we don’t even know about. The guy is not right in the head.

  86. Evidence first action later. At this point it seems premature to want to ruin his career over an unproven incident. Accusations do not equal proof. I am not one that believes he should be cut based on an accusation. I would not want the same standard applied to me. That said what he is accused of is terrible and if true he deserves to be punished.

But he won’t even hire an attorney and pursue defamation charges against an uber driver….Because???? Yea ..you know why
    ——————————————————————————————–
Presumably, because filing defamation charges against an Uber driver will yield virtually nothing to Winston. If anything, I’m sure Winston would have his attorney vigorously defend any civil charges brought by the Uber driver.

  88. The NFL has a true “high/low” couple – if you united the Bearded Woman Beater from Dallas with the Rapist Winston in Tampa, you’d have a couple that grabs women from the top and the bottom without any shame.

The NFL has become a joke – both players should be slinging fries at Mickey D’s.

  89. I loved my Uber drivers when I went to Tucson on my trip last August. Some of them were attractive women and I never grabbed their crotches. Jameis is a piece of crap.

This 3 game suspension alone will cost Winston 700k in game checks let alone the potential loss of a huge contract next year. If he could back her down and get her to retract her claims it would proclaim “innocence”. That’s worth the 100 million $$ contract.

“[W]hat did he do?” Tom Jones of the Times writes of Winston. “He allegedly grabbed a woman’s crotch against her will.”

That kind of reprehensible behavior can get you elected as the President…

    ————

    For sure….Bill Clinton proved that.

    ——-

You are 100% incorrect. Reprehensible behavior didn’t get Clinton elected, for the simple fact that he was already in the Oval Office.

In actuality, Clinton was impeached for reprehensible behavior.

Well done paying attention in your American history class…

  92. too early for that but at the end of the season the Bucs should have an answer on their QB situation. Im guessing they will decide to move on. He wont put up the production to overlook his other nonsense.

  93. I suspect that Jamie’s crotch grab qualifies him for a pardon because it was non-violent.

  94. Never bought a jersey. Never really bought in. Ultimately, he’ll be excused for his behavior, and if he can “Big Ben” his way to some legitimate success with the Bucs… all will be forgotten.
