Jay Cutler says he’s “probably” retired but not 100 percent

Jay Cutler announced his retirement and took a job as a FOX announcer last year, then changed his mind and signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins. Now everyone seems to be assuming Cutler is definitely retired, but Cutler says it’s not a certainty.

In a clip for his wife’s reality TV show, Cutler is shown talking to her about his future, and when she asks him if he’s 100 percent done with football, he won’t say that.

“I mean, I can’t say 100. Probably,” Cutler said.

Asked when he’ll know for sure if he’s retired, Cutler answered, “September.”

Cutler’s wife, Kristin Cavallari, made no secret that she wants him to stop playing.

“You have to realize how many sacrifices I have made over the eight football seasons we’ve been together,” she said. “This is my turn.”

Realistically, it’s unlikely any team is going to offer Cutler a job, as he did not play well for the Dolphins last year. Cutler doesn’t have a broadcasting job right now, but that’s probably where he should be looking if he wants to work.

  1. haha yeah in other words. ” does anybody else want to hand me 10 mill for a season of failure? “

  2. “You have to realize how many sacrifices I have made over the eight football seasons we’ve been together,” she said.

You could change the length of time and insert many players names to the same statement about Cutler

  3. “I mean, if somebody wants to give me one more payday then I’ll play.” Cutler said.

  4. “This is my turn”. Well, when your husband has won the genetic lottery and is gifted enough to play qb in the NFL just take a hint from a Brazilian model and let him play as long as he wants to. You have his entire retirement. Most men work a lot longer than Jay Cutler has. Besides, it’s only part of the year.

  5. The worst thing that ever happened to Jay Cutler was being traded to the Bears, the team where quarterbacks go to die. The worst thing Cutler ever did to himself was not leaving the Bears when he had the chance as a FA. He is a terrific QB who wasted his talents with the Bears. I hope he listens to his wife!

  6. Her sacrifices? Try being married to someone in the military and then she’ll realize how stupid it sounds to say she “sacrificed” while he was playing football for millions of $$$.

  7. Jay Cutler is better than Matt Stafford.

    Playoff wins:

    Jay Cutler 1
    Matthew Stafford 0

  8. Cutler’s wife, Kristin Cavallari, made no secret that she wants him to stop playing.

“You have to realize how many sacrifices I have made over the eight football seasons we’ve been together,” she said. “This is my turn.”

    Go your own way, Jay.

  9. Hey, I would take him. Our QB situation can’t get any worse and he has been more productive than any other QB in the NFC North outside of Rodgers.

  10. “You have to realize how many sacrifices I have made over the eight football seasons we’ve been together.”

Oh the drama. Could you imagine the backlash if a husband showed up his wife like this on TV?

Get in line honey… the fans, coaches and teammates of Jay over the past eight years made quite a bit of sacrifies as well.

    Let’s hope for everyone’s sake he’s done.

  11. Jay, go back and watch the hot mess of a performance you did last year. Dolphins could have done better just playing Matt Moore. The fact that you cashed that $10 mil check for that performance should actually cause you to be arrested for bank robbery. Go to the booth and be happy they didn’t rescind that offer based on the hot garbage you looked like all last year.

  12. “look for work”? That’s not how white privilege works. The job offers will come to him while he sits on his bottom. He won’t have to get up to “look” for “work”.

  13. Yeah I’m sure teams are rushing to call his agent after his stellar performance last season.

He was retired even when he was on the field last year.

  14. If there was any justice in the world, he would write a Check to every Dolphin’s fan for 10 dollars each for tanking our season. Go away, go have a smoke with your lovely (but obnoxious) TV Wife. Thanks for nothing.

  15. Sounds pretty selfish if her. It’s not like she would have married him if he wasn’t a football player.

  16. You have to realize how many sacrifices I have made over the eight football seasons we’ve been together,” she said. “This is my turn.” D’Ok…Is the Hills having a reboot? IF not? Be thankful your husband played in mostly 1 city over those 8 years, was paid a pile of money and afforded you opportunities most families and people never have, she came off as a spoiled brat years ago, sounds like she still is.

  17. A career 83.5 rating, about as many games lost as won, more turnovers (INT+Fum) than TDs, & negligible leadership – Actually, that’s Eli Manning! But Cutler is similar (bit better 85.3 rating, bit worse W-L & turnovers). Both are ok backups (e.g. Hoyer is on 83.3 but fewer turnovers), except Jay was on varied teams instead of one often-good one – oh, and not defrauding memorabilia.

  18. Run Jay; when girls start “keeping score” as far as what you did for them and Vice versa, it’s the beginning of hell. Run.

  19. You want sympathy for your sacrifices when Hubby brings home millions. Get a life!!! Real and bigger sacrifices are made every day by the wives and husbands of our awesome service personnel.

Please come back to the Dolphins Jay, we can’t deal with another season of Ryan Turnoverhill, please consider returning to the Mia!
    ———-

lies all lies – Tannehill will ball this year if Oline can keep him clean.

Phins would love to Cutler back on the cheap as Tannehill’s back up, but that won’t happen.

I’m sure the life she’s been afforded to live daily thanks to the 10’s of millions of dollars Cutler has over his career has been really, really, really hard on her. Poor thing…. She’s had it so tuff.

  22. Translation : If someone wants to pay me 10+ Million Dollars to come “Play” Quarterback for them while stinking the joint up all season long of course i’ll come back.

  23. To be fair to Jay Cutler, the Dolphins were 4-2 before he broke multiple ribs. Then they lost 5 straight with Matt Moore.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++
20 tds 14 ints for a guy who stepped in with new receivers and a system he was in for one season two years prior. 10 million sounds like a decent deal to me for a qb these days.

  25. Cutler should go down as earning the most bucks for his limited production of any QB in NFL history. He just kept milking teams for years as they waited for his potential to materialize.

It’s like investing in a penny stock and after a while of no returns, it gets dumped and picked up by another investor.

Jay Cutler, the ultimate penny stock

Lighten up! In her world, she probably did make sacrifices. I’m sure she’s not comparing her sacrifices to those made by spouses of military personnel.

  27. “You have to realize how many sacrifices I have made over the eight football seasons we’ve been together.”

Almost $100,000,000 in gross salary > greater than your ‘many sacrifices’ is my guess.

    So shut up.

Btw…. Jay had a 158 rating against the Pats in week 13 last season, who else could accomplish that?
    ——————————————————————————————
Actually no one. But Jay did not do it either. His QB rating for that game was 112.1, good but close to perfect. Tannehill had a 112.8 QB rating last time he played the Patriots in Miami.
