Could Ramon Foster be on the way out in Pittsburgh?

Steelers guard Ramon Foster will soon begin his 10th season with the team. Some think it could be his last.

Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review explains that the Steelers could choose to go with B.J. Finney in 2019. Finney will be a restricted free agent; Foster, who is in the final year of his current contract, will be an unrestricted free agent.

Foster is under contract for 2018, at a base salary of $2.675 million and a cap charge of $3.591 million.

He joined the Steelers in 2009, the first season after the team’s most recent Super Bowl win. He became a full-time starter in 2011, missing only eight regular-season games in seven seasons.

Foster also has started 11 postseason games, including Super Bowl XLV.

  1. Considering DeCastro and Pouncey make $8 million a year, Foster is a bargain. Foster is about 95% as good as them for 1/2 the price.

Need to save money so they can pay Bell to take himself out of big games again….

You’ve been running with that narrative for well over a year now, find something new to talk about? Lol

  3. If he goes to any other team, he’ll be flagged for false start on every play. Don’t believe me? Watch any offensive snap. The guy’s in perpetual motion.

When it is no longer true then I will change the narrative. I don’t see that changing any time soon.

  6. He’s overrated as is every Steeklers player not named Antonio Brown, but they may have a rookie or a 2nd year guy who is cheaper and better. Afterall, they are in a cap hell and Leveon Bell has the leverage.

That’s kinda how long Bell has had leverage on Colbert for. How did that Feb 20 “deadline” work out for Kevie, hmm?

Hint: Your team is in a cap hell, Bud Duprees is a disastrous bust, TJ Watt is not much better, and you have no playmakers on D.
If they do sign Bell, or even if he plays under the tag, you’ll have a large chunk of your cap up against only 3 players on the roster (Ben, Brown and Bell).

  8. You know what’s overrated, tylawpick6’s comments. You got a gift last season with the Jesse James’ call. Just like the laughable “tuck rule”. Don’t ever forget it.

  9. Other than his contract being up, is there anything tgat suggests he is on way out? Heard Ben say he would take less to give his OLine more. If Ramon is still playing at his level, he seems like a shoe in to be resigned.

If he starts to decline this year or another guy really shows up(Finney) maybe. If he goes out free agent to test ttge market and wins the lottery, god bless him.

Otherwise all this says us his contract expires after this season.

Hint every year at this time some obtuse Pat fan …either Tylawspicksix or NHputz starts with the cap he’ll crap that never materializes. I realize you both are hungry for attention but try to say something worthwhile……not your juvenile snarky trash.

unless you are poor and the bank comes to compromise the car from you because you can’t afford the payments on it

  12. TyLaw – you do realize that despite all the “weak points” you bring up the Steelers are one of the few teams the Patriots need to worry about, don’t you? I for one believe the Patriots lucked out when the Jags surprised the Steelers last Jan.

  13. The guy is dependable and comes at a real bargain. Big Ben isn’t getting younger and isn’t the best scrambler so why get rid of a proven blocker given all of that?

  14. That Super Bowl loss has really affected the fans of that team up in the Northeast. Anger and frustration on full display.

  15. So, it’s pretty apparent Steelers fans are VERY sensitive to their obvious flaws on the team.

I sell 1MM a month, so it’s very easy to multi task by slapping dumb Steelers fans on here, as they gush over their overrated team every year.

That’s just the thing. I don’t worry about the Steelers at all. They can’t even beat a depleted Pats team at home for crying out loud.

Wake me when Pitt can play man all game long and go toe to toe with the Pats. It just doesn’t exist.

Pitt was in no way shape or form playing the best Pats team last year as injured as they were.

Eric Rowe was on a torn groin trying to run down Schuster at the end for crying out loud. lmao

There is another overrated player. DeCastro. Steelers fans had him as bust going into his 3rd season and all of a sudden Colbert is forced to to pay him to avoid acknowledging another 1st rd bust.

Anyone paying a Guard that kind of money is a moron.

Belichick was forced to do it with Mankins and it was a mistake. By the time he traded him, most of the contract had been paid out.

Yes, going to the conf title game and the SB (if healthy) every year is really upsetting. Just awful being a Pats fan. lmao

  19. OK, nobody in here seems to remember when they paid Finney well over the minimum to remain on the practice. This plan has been in place for a couple of years now.
