Hue Jackson warns of bandwagon fans after Snoop Dogg visits Browns

The Dawg Pound turned into the Dogg Pound this week, but Hue Jackson doesn’t want his suddenly popular Browns to forget where they came from.

Cleveland’s drawn more attention than you’d think a 2-2-1 team would, and that includes rapper and cultural icon Snoop Dogg showing up at practice Wednesday.

Snoop, I’ve known him for quite a while,” Jackson humblebragged, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “He’s been around some other places I have been. . . . It was good to have him out for a moment. A lot of guys see him on the sideline, and his message was ‘Man, you guys are doing some good things, some really good things.’

“I thought that was great. At the same time, there are going to be a lot of people that want to come be on this wagon when the wagon gets rolling, and we’re going to circle the wagon. I know that because I didn’t see any of these people the last two years. I’m still the same guy. I still knew all of these people prior to this year. We’re not going to get caught up in any of that. Our players won’t, and that’s my message to them. We are going to work, and we’re going to continue to get better and see where we are.”

Snoop happened to be in Cleveland promoting a show, so he stopped by. And he’s always identified as a Steelers fan, but he declared a fondness for what’s happening within the division of his favorite.

“The real Dogg had to come see the Dawg Pound and make it official,” he said on Cleveland Browns Daily. “I like a lot of players y’all got on your team. I like what y’all doing. [Jarvis] Landry, [Baker] Mayfield, [Myles] Garrett, [Jabrill] Peppers. It’s a bunch of guys I like how they get down.”

And as the Browns continue to build on what they’ve done so far — and dare we say it, perhaps a winning record someday — more and more celebrities will inevitably turn up.

  1. These celebs love to be connected with the downtrodden as if it gives them more street cred. Ballers wanna be rappers, rappers wanna be ballers. No worries, they will all vanish if you don’t win more than a couple of games. Right now it’s sexy to be a Browns fan. Paint your wagon and come along.

  2. Hues right. Gotta stay humble and work.

Also, we dont need or want any bandwagon fans,
All you haters were talking smack for years, dont come around now that we finally got it right.

    Cleveland vs the world.

  3. They will have a winning record this year. Might be 8-7-1 but I believe they can do it. AFC is weak, their division is comparatively weak (not AFC East weak, but weak). Got a long way to go to become contenders, but I think they *can* beat just about anyone in the league

  4. Did he bring Snoop Dogg in as a prime example of a bandwagon fan?

Seriously, I think I’ve seen him wear the jersey of at least 20 NFL teams.

  5. A lot of attention for a team that has won two games…let’s see where they end up this season before getting too excited about their future.

  6. We don’t have to wonder what happens when they inevitably lose 2, 3, 4 in a row…. ABANDON SHIP… er, WAGON! Seriously though, it’s nice everyone’s being all positive about the Browns for the 1st time this decade but I hope they keep it real. Keep your heads down, keep grinding, don’t get caught up. You’re still a pretty mediocre team if a mediocre team on the rise. It’s a long season and odds are still very long there’s any post season in your future. Ultimately, all relative positivity aside, that’s all that matters.

  7. That’s just normal. It’s the American way. Everyone wants to identify with a winner. We all do it. Just like when they say L.A. isn’t a football town. Really? Go check out a Rams game. Lol. Talk about a bandwagon. “They” become “we”.

  8. Snoop is a Stage-5 clinger, I’d stay away from him as far as possible.

If I remember correctly, he moved from the Oakland Raiders, to the Pittsburgh Steelers and now he’s seen around the Cleveland Browns?

Cleveland, I’m glad to see you making strides with your org, just don’t let things like this distract you.

  9. Hanging out with Snoop Dogg is a recipe for a substance abuse violation. The guy gives new meaning to a “green room”

  10. The only thing keeping the Browns from a winning season is Hue! Bringing in a crapper won’t help, more likely to hurt!

  11. Despite him wearing other jerseys like many people do, its well known that Snoop is a Steeler fan. Guy likes the make the rounds, not sure why anyone is trying to hate.

Just the same, come playoff time (and yes, the Steelers will be in) we all know who he will be rooting for.

  12. Snoop Dogg just likes football jerseys and he gets tired of wearing the same ones. He’s a fan of the league. Who cares if he wore your teams’s jersey then wore someone else’s the next day?
