Carson Wentz wants to “clean up” fumbles

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has thrown an interception on less than one percent of his passes this season, but turnovers have been a problem with him over his six starts this season.

Wentz has fumbled at least once in every game — seven times overall — and the Eagles have lost five of them. It’s not a new issue for Wentz as he fumbled 23 times in his first 29 games, but it’s one that he’d like to see come to an end.

“It’s part of the game,” Wentz said, via Philly.com. “Every one is kind of its own thing. I never want to say, ‘It’s part of the game, it happens’ — I want to clean it up. But at the same time, each is such an individualized play and case. Overall, just have to be better with that and get the ball out quicker in some of those situations.”

Quarterbacks coach Press Taylor agrees that Wentz needs to do a better job of knowing when it is “not a time to hold the ball and extend,” but that has to be balanced with allowing him to make the kind of off-schedule plays that have produced some of his biggest highlights.

  1. And zero rushing TDs (and only 2 in his career), very surprising for a scrambler – especially when you consider that even Brady has 2 this year so far.

How’s life as defending champion? – not that easy getting back there is it? In fact it’s damn hard, given everyone plays you like it’s their own little SB and the Parity Rules are designed to work against Champions and your ring-guys all want paydays. Perhaps now you’ve an inkling of just how great BB & TB12 have been over the past 16yrs with their 12 AFCCG and 8 SB visits.

  2. I’m surprised that this guy is smart enough to know what a fumble is. He’s demonstrated being brain dead on most rushing plays and he is not a particularly skilled passer when pressed.

Little hands? He had the biggest hands for a QB in his draft…the dude is 6’5″…do you know anything, or just make it up on the fly?

    #12 & BB > LOSERS

  7. Goff is the one with the little hands and no one has any idea what the second half of your sentence means.

Apparently you don’t watch the eagles except when they beat the great Brady and B.B. with a backup QB.

Carson is not a running QB. He will run when he HAS to. Big difference there big guy. Also many in the team have taken pay cuts rather than ask for more money. You actually have no facts. In fact zero facts in your statement.

Patriots fans are the least humble and your QB the supposed GOAT can’t even shake hands after a SB loss. In all of his losses he has run off the field without congratulating his opponent. This is why he will never be the goat for me. Montana is a much more gracious winner and loser. Of course it’s hard to say because the real GOAT Montana never lost a super bowl.

Put it to rest, your team had a nice run, but it’s over. You’ll see.

Hes been sacked 21 times (6 games) and has a 71% completion rate, 13/2 Td/int and 110 QB rating. Looks like you’re the brain dead one.

  10. Little hands lmao ,that’s why he can’t thrown the deep ball ,,see Foles added that dimension to the Eagles offense last year ,,big hands !

Life’s great, thanks for asking. It may only be their first but at least the word “cheater” is never associated with the REIGNING SB CHAMPS!!!!!!!

  12. This stat is so damn misleading. So bad or mishandled snaps will count as fumbles too. As well as if a RB muffs the handoff.

Has their been legit fumbles where the ball is swiped from his hand while he is in the pocket stairing downfield? Sure. But not to the extend that this dumb stat makes it look.
