John Harbaugh: There’s no QB controversy in our locker room

Lamar Jackson won his third consecutive start, and with Joe Flacco nearing a return, the Ravens will have a decision to make at the position.

Jackson completed 12 of 21 passes for 125 yards and ran for 75 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries in the Ravens’ 26-16 victory over the Falcons. He briefly gave way to Robert Griffin III before clearing a concussion check.

“He’s done enough [to continue starting],” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, via Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

But Harbaugh added he has made no decision about who will start next week or beyond.

Flacco was not cleared to play Sunday.

Flacco remains week to week with a right hip injury, Harbaugh said, but is expected to do more in practice this week. Flacco did not practice Wednesday and was limited Thursday and Friday before being listed as doubtful in the team’s status report.

“There is no quarterback controversy in our locker room. Maybe we’ll play all three or maybe we’ll play one,” Harbaugh said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.

  1. @joetoronto – I don’t understand how anybody can think Jackson is a starting NFL QB.

That’s easy. It’s the same people that were saying Joe Flacco was an elite QB in the NFL. If Flacco winning a Super Bowl gets him in the “elite” discussion, then Jackson is arguably a starting NFL QB since he’s 3-0.

  2. Allen ran for 130 plus yards, missed a wide open receiver for a game winning td but no talk of him not being an nfl qb… hmmm I wonder why.

  3. Jackson is doing well as a backup but he’s not a long-term starter. Yes he’s 3-0 but against 3 sub-500 teams with a combined 11-24 record. If Average Joe had been half as elite as his salary, he’d be a lock to get his job back. As it is, you might as well stick with the warm hand.

  4. “ELITE” level controversy.

It pretty sad/funny/pathetic when your team (w/ an”ELITE” quarterback)
has a controversy with a young backup quarterback who only drops 125 yards
on the 26th ranked PASS Defense in the nfl.

  5. I don’t care if an NFL team is 2-9, you suppose to beat them, they are professionals as well. Cleveland Brown QB threw 3 int today, so I guess because Lamar is black he will not be considered a goo QB even though they have won 3 games with Lamar.

With the numbers Jackson put up all Joe has to do is walk into the stadium to get his job back!

  7. When you can dominate time of possession and run the ball effectively, plus have a dominating defense, that is usually a formula for winning. The Ravens are winning with that formula. When Joe comes back he should get the start, as he is technically our starting QB. If the running game is successful under Joe, then keep him in. But if we go back to the same lame Joe offense, bench him and get Lamar back in there. I’ll take the lumps of Lamar not being accurate with his arm yet over Joe being totally lame.
