Seahawks defense dominates in 21-7 win

Getty Images

The Seahawks got a little offense, a little special teams and a lot of defense.

Frank Clark, Tedric Thompson, Bobby Wagner, Bradley McDougald, Jacob Martin, Justin Coleman, Shaquill Griffin, Tre Flowers and company starred for the Seahawks by dominating the Vikings.

The Seahawks pitched a shutout until 1:10 remained, winning 21-7.

Seattle (8-5) remains as the top wild-card team in the NFC, and despite the loss, the Vikings (6-6-1) retain the best record in the battle for the second wild card.

The Vikings had 276 yards but 70 came on a final drive with the outcome no longer in doubt. Kirk Cousins went 20-of-33 for 208 yards and a touchdown, and Dalvin Cook rushed for 55 yards on 13 carries.

The Seahawks defense won the day.

They stuffed the Vikings on four plays inside the 5-yard line in the fourth quarter, including a third-down run by Cook on a tackle by Clark and an fourth-down incomplete pass on a defensed pass by McDougald. Wagner and Clark combined for a tackle of Latavius Murray on a fourth-and-one try in the third quarter, too.

Wagner blocked a 47-yard Dan Bailey field goal attempt by leaping over the line in the fourth quarter, though he appeared illegally to use other players for leverage.

Martin had a sack-fumble of Cousins, with Coleman returning it 29 yards for a touchdown. It’s the fourth defensive touchdown the Vikings have allowed this season, including the third since Week Eight.

The Seahawks needed every bit of their defensive and special teams effort since their offense wasn’t much better than the Vikings, finishing with 2 fewer yards than Minnesota after a kneel down at the end of the game. Seattle had 60 net passing yards and scored only 13 points on four red-zone possessions.

Russell Wilson threw an interception at the end of the first half after the Seahawks reached the Minnesota 1-yard line with 16 seconds left. He finished 10-of-20 for 72 yards and an interception for a passer rating of 37.9. It was his fewest passing yards and lowest passer rating of any game in his career.

  1. This makes me so happy.

Cousins the 29th best QB in one possession games in the second half? Probably worse now.

The Vikings didn’t get across the fifty one time in the first half.

Booger McFarland “I don’t think we have to worry about Cousins scoring 14 points!”

Cook jumped up into the air before getting zero yards from the three yard line. What?

Oh, and we know Vikes fans will be complaining about the refs. That play looked clean to me.

Also, my fantasy football opponent needed 14 points to win in my ppr league. Rudolph and Diggs give him 12.

Many thanks to the Vikings for their incredible ineptitude!!

  2. Seahawks defense looked great. Still curious though, why was that flag on Wagner picked up on that blocked field goal? Huge impact on the game, although the Vikings probably wouldn’t have done anything with the first down in the red zone down by 6.

  3. I think it’s becoming blatantly obvious to anyone with eyes, that Cousins an Co. are actively trying to get Mike Zimmer fired.

How sad and desperate is it that Barney fans are longing for the Bridgewater era?

  4. Hey MIN! As soon as I tuned in you scored. Haha. I’m good luck for you. Too bad I didn’t start watching earlier. But I told you you were going to lose. Now you need to lose two more please. #herewecome

  5. Seattle clearly the better team. Ugly game but Seattle almost always wins ugly games because they are better at the fundamentals and they have Russel Wilson. They are gonna be a tough out in the postseason.

  6. Zimmer is not getting it done. His players are not coming out playing to win. The defense is okay but the offensive scheming & play calling is poor, OBVIOUSLY. How in the world do you not scheme for Wilson’s runs. Poor as $$#& planning.

  7. Officials won the game for Seattle. The PI call on Rhodes gave Seattle 3 points and obviously the late FG attempt with Wagner using leverage to jump the line should have set the Vikes up deep in Seattle territory with the opportunity to go up 7-6 late in the 4th.

  8. Expect to hear a lot about the illegality of the blocked kick. But if you watched the game, Minnesota couldn’t have scored if they started every drive on the Seattle three yard line.
At least they continued to move the ball and score with ease in garbage time.

  9. If Minnesota somehow blows their opportunity to make the playoffs, it will be one of the more epic Choke jobs of all time. Everyone around them is losing…. they can’t score and the QB looks like the most over paid player in the NFL. The Packers literally laid down and gave you the division this year. Classic Vikings.

  10. Wow! Complicit Refs, ESPN & NFL just cost Minnesota game – Bobby Wagner’s illegal jump block HAS ALWAYS been a penalty! There needs to be a 3rd party consulting type group running the NFL ref system. #agnosti&transparent. Time to file a lawsuit. Complete garbage & fixed.

Jeff Triplettte worming for ESPN said it was a penalty, a 15 yard penalty. Complete game changer.

I could give two flicks about the Vikings, but this is 100% destroying the integrity of the NFL. I don’t even know if I will ever watch my team again. Thanks for ruining the NFL Goodell & company. Too bad you can’t be impeached for cheating and fixing.

  11. It doesn’t take a genius.
    1. DeFilippo is in over his head
    2. Cousins will always fumble.
    3. Vikings are getting out game planned every week
    4. Terrible O line

  12. The Vikings offense is offensive. The line can’t block my grandma. They didn’t deserve to win. That said, how is the flag on Wagner illegal leverage kick block picked up? Look at the definition of the rule. The officials should be fired before they go home.

    Eighty-four million

    ++++++++++++++++

    It’s only money.

  14. Now do not be too tough on Cousins, at least his record is intake, has not yet beaten a team with a winning record this season. Vikings fans you might want to stop trashing the Packers and worry about all those problems you have on your team. Will Zimmer survive the season? Time will tell.

Vikings choke like no other franchise, 50+ years of ineptitude

    ÷÷÷÷÷÷

How is it a choke when Seattle was favored?

  16. Nice garbage time td by cousins there are the end. Kirk is awful. Should’ve kept keenum. Dumbest decision ever. Keenum gets 13-3 rec and nfc championship game, and you thank him by getting rid of him for a mediocre qb that’s never been to the playoffs, never did anything in Washington. Wtf was vikings management thinking? ? Smh. I’d be super pissed if I was a vikings fan. What’s funny is most vikings fans wanted cousins and we’re happy with the move. LoL. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Now it’s broke.

  17. How long until people realize that Kirk Cousins is just not a winner? Never has been, never will be. He has a supporting cast around him that went 13-3 last year and big contract “franchise QB” Cousins has led them to a sterling 6-6-1 record barely hanging on to a playoff spot.

  18. DeFilipo is clearly over his head. And it’s time for the Zimmer era to end. How many big games has his team’s failed to show for? Zimmer is a good DC. He’s a terrible head coach.

  19. I didnt like the Cousins signing when it happened for that amount of money. Then he gave me hope and looked decent for a couple games…but still not $84M decent…and not good in others.

As a Vikes fan, it could be 3 tough years. Or, maybe Zim is in his every other year mode, meaning SB next year! Yeah right…

I can easily see 2 more losses this year unless they have some kind of epiphany, and even there, it might not be enough.

  20. No reason for Vikings fans to feel bad. The offense proved they could score, and if it comes down to week 17 with GB (somehow) still in it, the Bears will surely rest players vs Vikings because they will want the Vikings in the playoffs instead of the Packers.

  21. If you can’t take advantage of a down from the Packers you won’t be doing much with this roster. Windows in the NFC North close a little quicker because the class of the division bounces back too quickly.

  22. I have always thought KC was an unproven commodity. when the news broke he leveraged the jets offer to squeeze more cash out of other teams looking to sign him, it made his supposed religious faith come off as phony. why did they think getting rid of CK was the answer, when maybe going 13-3 wasn’t a situation that deserved something as drastic as changing QBS ? either way, somebody screwed things up.

  23. QBs I’d take before Cousins: Brady, Tannehill, Roethlisberger, Mayfield, Luck, Mariota, Watson, Mahomes, KEENUM, Rivers, Prescott, Wentz, Smith, Trubisky, Rodgers, Brees, Bridgewater, Newton, Ryan, Goff, Wilson, Garoppolo, …

Haven’t seen Rosen, Darnold or Jackson enough to know how they will turn out, but at least they have a chance to get better. Cousins is a bottom 10 starter in the league

And just to make things interesting – would take Kaepernick over him as well.

  24. Funny…did anybody count how many times Kirk’s $84 million contract was mentioned? I’m not a fan of his but I thought the analysts reminded us of this way too many times.

  25. Russ looked blind and confused out there. Glad they got the win, but that was really concerning effort from the offense, mainly just russ though.

    ———

Not sure if you know this but Minnesota has a pretty good defense. The coverage was really tight and Russell doesn’t usually like making mistakes. After that interception at the end of the first half he was even less likely to throw into coverage and make the game-changing mistake.

Sometimes you have to win by not losing. Russell is pretty good at that. It’s why he’s so quality in the playoffs because that is playoff football.

  26. Seattle’s strength, the run game, played to the Vikings strength, stopping the run.
So how did the Seahawks manage to control the flow of the game?
Not sure, but I was struck that I never heard Harrison Smith’s name called all night.

  27. No Seahawk fan is worried about Russel Wilson. They ran for 200 yards and Zimmer had a good defensive game taking away the deep ball without Doug Baldwin in the game.

Seahawk defense made a statement. Number 3 scoring defense and they can take the ball away. Clark, Griffin, Wagner and Jordan all balled out.

  28. This game was the nail in the coffin for Cousins. He should be benched and never see the field again. he is proof that you need to be more than a talented passer to be successful. unless the guy has perfect protection (which happens about 1 time a game if we’re lucky), he is garbage.

The only benefit of his atrocious contract is that every single QB after him is going to get $30 million or more and wreck every salary cap for each team here on out.

  29. You haters are correct, the Vikings are the ONLY franchise that’s never won the bowl. So we’re such huge chokes. Rhodes was bad on that play & he interfered and it is debatable that the ball was catchable, but Wagner’s block was illegal. The Vikings had enough chances to win and didn’t get it done. It would worthwhile if you other posters would at least be honest and not so biased. Maybe that too much to ask?

    ——————————————————————————-

I would be very careful what you wish for, even if the Bears rest their starters, you have no guarantee of winning. You have NOT beaten a winning team this year and there is nothing to show that you could beat even the Bears second string. But hey good luck with hanging your hat on that. Even your comment shows you have no faith in them beating a winning team, wow!

    ===========================================================================================
The PI call on Rhodes was the correct call. He was holding on to Lockett’s arm.

The way the Vikings were playing, there’s no guarantee that the Vikings’ would have scored a TD from the 15 yard line if the penalty was assessed correctly Wagner’s blocked field goal. Maybe they should have scored from the 2 when they had the opportunity.

Vikings fans need to stop blaming the refs for their losses. Every time the Vikings lose, it’s the fault of the officials.

  32. Final score doesn’t tell the story. Vikings played as well as the Seahawks for most of the game. Much better showing than I expected, they played their hearts out

  33. Cousins is just a bit too earnest running the hurry up with 2 minutes left and down three possessions.

It’s right to keep working, but your face should demonstrate the awareness that they are literally just letting you march down the field. They’re not even going to challenge the td pass when you’ve crossed the line of scrimmage, because they can’t even be bothered.

Hard to explain, but it just looks like Kirk thinks it means something that it doesn’t.

  34. I love that the Vikings fans are whining about the officials when they all were giddy when the officials called Clay Matthews for roughing Kirk Cousins when the whole world saw it was a perfectly good and legal sack. That penalty cost the Packers the win against them and everyone knows it. So tonight you got a taste of your own medicine because they didn’t call a penalty on Bobby Wagner for illegally using his hands to jump over the line and block that field goal. But the truth is — even if they called it, you would have still lost the game and probably wouldn’t have scored a TD there anyway because your offense stunk so badly.
So — Vikings fans — here’s the deal — the Seahawks defense completely dominated your offense in that game and made Kirk Cousins look like exactly what he is — the most over-paid QB in the NFL. Now you know why the Redskins were glad to get rid of him! The only good news for you is he didn’t fumble tonight as he usually does!
Great job by the Seahawks tonight. I love seeing the Vikings “great” defense get dominated once again in a big game. The Seahawks offensive line owned the line of scrimmage.
For the 100th time Vikings fans — they do not hand out the Lombardi Trophy in September!!!!
As a Packers fan, I will sleep very good tonight knowing the Vikings fans hearts are broken again, just as they always are!

  35. As expected, as has been the case all year, awful officiating. But still, cousins and the Vikings looked awful and inept. And yes, I vike that….

  36. the no-call on Wagner may have been wrong – but Hawks were pretty clearly the better team all night. that’s a very solid win over a team that needed it more than we did.

russell won’t have many games that bad – winning it when he plays like that is a good sign for the team’s chances.

We kicked the crap out them…..GO HAWKS

    —————

No u didn’t bro, u got handed the game by corrupt officials. That Bobby Wagner block has always been called as a 15 yd penalty until tonight. It changed the game. Ref calls need to be reviewable, ESPECIALLY with the NFL going to Vegas.

  38. Emotional people trying to yell about the blocked field goal and how it “changed the game”. That kick was going to miss anyway.

Minnesota kickers always miss in crunch time.

Funny how you’re all acting like it was a last-second kick to win the game. Still down 6-3 even if he makes it…calm down.

  39. Can’t put this all on Cousins. The play calling was curious, to say the least, and the offensive line play was terrible. Maybe Cousins should have changed some plays at the line after reading the coverage, but the OC clearly needs to get a clue.

  40. I hope this crew doesn’t get used in the playoffs or they will ruin a game. They were as bad as the game was boring. Both defenses limited the offenses for the most part.

  41. as bad as the offense played, the Vikings had a very good chance to win and it was taken away by the refs. That clearly was a foul and the ref that threw the flag knew it. That’s why he threw the flag. There was no evidence anywhere to concluded that it wasn’t a foul. Think about it, the Vikings should have had a first down at the 15 trailing 6-0. GAME CHANGING BAD CALL BY REFS. AGAIN!!! When is gonna stop?

  42. Minnesota’s stacked roster is built to win now, given the franchise’s investments, and remains on the verge of missing the postseason despite miserable wild-card competition. The Vikings enter the final three weeks of the season hanging onto the sixth seed by a half-game with a divisional road test and two home games against playoff contenders remaining. If the Vikes miss the postseason, it should be considered an organizational failure.

  43. Cousins name and 84 million was mentioned 7 zillion times tonight by the announcers and now every NFL fan. Not one player wins or loses games. The offensive line is horrible and the play calling terrible. Can Cousins play better, of course. But mentioning his salary over and over is tiresome. How much is Aaron Rodgers getting paid, and what is his record?

  44. GM Spielman needs to be fired. He can’t evaluate the most important position on a team. Thinks Ponder is good, thinks Bridgewater is good, thinks Bradford is good, has a QB that gets the team to the NFC Championship and gets rid of him, and thinks Cousins is good. The Wilfs are stupid for letting this idiot run the team.

  45. DeFilippo lack of creativity in situation football & quick-play design is rearing its ugly head. It was obvious the QB did not have time. Where are the quick slants & pick plays?

He may not land on the MN tarmac with the job still in hand.

Tired of hearing him being talked about as a “hot coordinator” in line for a head coaching gig.

  46. I’m really hating to NFL and how the officials control the game. BTW I have no dog in this fight.

  47. Whi was the back judge who called PI on Vikings when the ref right by the play didn’t throw the flag? Was he the same that talked the other day ref out of the leverage penalty on the field goal?

    National FIXED League

  48. The flag pickup on the FG block was hanus.

Not the reason the Vikings lost, but any fool can see that it was a foul, should be challengable & quite obviously was a huge turning point. It was still a 6 point game.

Lots of hardcore fans murmuring about the NFL being like Pro Wrestling. The execs need to listen. Peak NFL has already happened, don’t tick off your hardcore audience with integrity issues. Get it right.

  49. Question…Both Hawks and Boys are 8-5. NFL.com shows Cowboys as 4th seed and Hawks as 5th seed. We beat the Boys in week 3, shouldn’t this be reversed??

    *****
Please remind me which Super Bowl the Bengals, Bills, Browns, Cardinals, Chargers, Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Panthers, Texans or Titans won. I must have missed those.

  51. I thought the Seahawks were going to finish last in the NFC West and be irrelevant? Instead they’re going back to the playoffs? Where are all you guys? Hello? Hello?

  52. Hey Viking fans, Cousins isn’t the problem. Your O line sucks and as a result you can’t run the ball, and this really limits the play calling. Cousins was brought in to be the final piece, not THE piece. It would help if you guys could stay healthy on both sides of the ball too.

  53. How come no one is mentioning the Blatant Hold on Wilson’s 40 yard run! They Call Diggs, and our lineman but miss this! Unacceptable!!! Vikings played Poorly and were out coached but the officials gave the game to STEELattle!

  54. “They’re not even going to challenge the td pass when you’ve crossed the line of scrimmage…”

That happened under 2 minutes so Pete couldn’t challenge, but all scoring plays are reviewed so I guess they deemed it acceptable. Pete did still call a timeout before the PAT to grovel it appeared. I’m sure Pete knows that the Seahawks have the most MNF shutouts in the history of the world and I’m quite positive that he would’ve liked to tack on another.
I would’ve liked that as well.

    )))))))))
Russ passed for 72 yards total in this game.

  56. I guarantee you the Seahawks won’t win another game. If they do I’ll eat Bart Simpson’s shorts.

  57. I loved it in the SB when Wilson threw the losing INT and the Hawks had a childish meltdown. Did you all see the replay of Butler wiping that smirk off Sherman’s face and turning it into tears? That was funny. Or when those two SEA clowns ganged up on gronk only to both get body slammed by him? That was even funnier.

  58. It’s crazy how identical stafford and cousins are. Both don’t seem to be the guy for each squad. As a lions fan I felt like I was watching Stafford playing for the vikes.

    ——-

You are aware that the Lions squad is currently an un-drafted RB who broke his back in the off-season, 3rd string TEs and a basket of breadsticks at WR? Doesn’t matter much who’s ‘right’ for that mess, if anybody even could be. Meanwhile the Vikings offense was missing exactly zero starters today.

  59. Are we really in fire Zimmer mode? He would have been elected governor at this time last year (see Jesse if you doubt that). Suddenly he’s a lousy head coach? BS. It’s the same story just a different week. A glaring mistake was made when they failed to improve the offensive line in a substantial way during the offseason. Zimmer’s defense is still good, and the offensive skill players are still talented, but you will not have much success without solid offensive line play.

  60. Cousins got an huge contract which the Vikings will regret, the crazy part is, he has WRs that can give the illusion he his might be a top tier QB and is worth the $.

Throw it up there and let them make a play, it wasn’t until he threw up a 50/50 ball that Diggs made an amazing play on did he get an drop of confidence.

I don’t know if the WRs will have continued faith in him after performances like this (especially in Primetieme), I wouldn’t blame them, but that is when the Attitude or Diva WR comes out.

  61. Hard to explain, but it just looks like Kirk thinks it means something that it doesn’t.
    +++++
Garbage time stats helped him secure his $84 million. So it means something, just not what it should.

  62. I had no dog in this fight.

The officiating was beyond bad. Seattle got away with pass interference, face masking, and numerous times, holding. Is Seattle the NE of the NFC or something. It was pathetic officiaing and hard to watch.

  63. @greenandgoldgirl,I dont think the Bears are worried about the Packers,,,Kyle fuller dropped a pic 6,that Princes Erin threw, plus dont forget they have the same record as the Browns,oh wait ,my bad,I forgot your princes and the jesters beat the mighty Falcons!

  64. Said it for weeks, Vikes are a solid team with a great defenses who will make the playoffs…..and go nowhere from there.

  65. Among all the NFL headlines of last spring, Cousins signing for $84 million guaranteed was arguably the biggest. After a season where the Vikings only lost 3 regular season games (they already doubled that this year and we still have 3 games left to play), this was the additional player that was supposed to put the Vikings into the Superbowl.

All the detractors were saying the same thing, no team lets a true franchise QB walk away and Cousins chokes in the big moments. The Viking fans were singing a different tune, all Cousins needed is a better supporting cast.

Now that we are 13 weeks into the season, can the Viking fans accept Cousins as the QB that his record says he is? Or maybe they would “Vike that”

  66. 1. The Vikings defense is fine. They gave them unlimited chances to come back. They have been good almost the whole year and have given the Vikings a chance in most games.

    2. The offense is a mess and there is no obvious person to blame. You can entirely blame Kirk, because he has almost no time to throw, you cant entirely blame the OC because maybe his play calls are good, but the Line just is that bad. You can’t entirely blame the line because there are play calls that you can do to mask a bad line. The blame is a combination of all those.

    3. It had no barring on the actual outcome, but the Seahawks are cheaters. That blocked kick is absolutely illegal. It’s one thing for officials to miss something not obvious, but that was completely obvious. Why do the Hawks get away with everything at Centurylink? This blocked kick, the fail mary (Packer fans can vouch for that), the batted ball against the Lions. So many countless no calls. It’s sickening. Either way I’m not going to blame the out come of the game on this.

  67. Zimmer seems to be following the yo-yo pattern established by old boss Marvin Lewis. 2014 down, 15 up, 16 down, 17 up, 2018. Sure, there’s way more that goes into it with injuries and unexpected turns, but Lewis’ Bengals finally settled on ‘down’ and stayed there.

As a fan I had my doubts about this squad when they failed to take the division in Chicago a few weeks ago, and Cousins’ comments on the disruption of his sleep pattern following a tough road game against New England didn’t inspire much hope for this week. My gut told me the Vikings would fold in this game and I was half right. This is a good defensive squad, and as a squad they have improved over the course of the season. The offense has regressed – a shocking development that flies in the face of a 84-million QB. I loved Case Keenum but still understand the decision to sign Kirk Cousins, given his arm and durability. Case sold out in nearly every game last year, just a bit reckless and on the edge. Successful and fun to watch. Unlike this.

I do not know who New England will defeat in the Super Bowl this year, but I’m reasonably certain it won’t be Minnesota.

  68. 21-7; with the 7 coming in garbage time.

    A blocked FG or not doesn’t = 14 points.

And the PI was one. You can’t grab the arm and the pass landed just out of bounds.

Russ had the worst game of his career and Hawks dominated horrid NFC North.

Kendrick makes a big diff with KJ out.

    Dallas should be very worried.

  69. The Broncos blocked a kick the same way earlier in the Year and no one said a thing about the blocked kick back then. Watch the video and the jumper also touched the players he’s jumping over too.

Who cares if that illegal blocked kick had nothing to do outcome of the game. It was against the rules, and they even picked up the flag. Why have a rule for it? It doesn’t take the fact away that it was cheating and the game did turn after that. The Vikings would have had a fresh first down in the redzone if that flag stayed and the game was 6-0. The game was not out of reach.

I understand the Vikings played bad…but guess what. The Seahawks played bad too, just slightly better. But stop with the whole “Vikings wouldnt have won anyways” crap to justify a terrible no call. Every little thing changes the game script and the outcome. Both teams didn’t play very inspiring football and didn’t deserve to win. Both teams should by a steak dinner for their defenses.

  72. Kirk Cousins 6-6-1
Case Keenum 6-7 (10-3 at this point last year)

$84 million to improve 1/2 game in the standings (or regress by 3 1/2 games if you prefer)

Real smart investment there, Vikings (sarcasm)

  73. There was 5 min left in the 4th quarter, and the Hawks hadn’t given up a point yet. 0 Points. But yeah, the blocked field goal was the problem that “gifted” them the win..smh Plus it was 47 yards out. Dan Bailey is 3 for 8 on the season from that range. Very far from a sure thing.

What makes you Viks fans think all of the sudden you would have scored?

Welcome to Seattle, Now Go Home.

  74. Everyone acting like seahawks dominated the vikings. Wilson Wilson had 70 yards for tbe whole game!!! Luckily for the seahawks, they played a worser team. If a mediocre vikings defense shutdown Wilson to 70 yards passing, the bears or Dallas defense will make Wilson look even worse. Enjoy this ugly win against the terrible vikings, but you guys will be one and done. Vikings and seahawks are the worst teams in the playoffs. That Seattle offense is an embarrassment. Wilson makes Trubiski and dak look like hall of famers. Seattle is gonna get destroyed in the first round by either Dallas or bears. Wilson will throw for maybe 40 yards, the run game will be completely shutdown by the bears or Dallas. It will be an embarrassing loss with seahawks having a total of 100 yards passing and running.
    Dallas or bears 24
    Seahawks 3

Officials won the game for Seattle. The PI call on Rhodes gave Seattle 3 points and obviously the late FG attempt with Wagner using leverage to jump the line should have set the Vikes up deep in Seattle territory with the opportunity to go up 7-6 late in the 4th.

Seattle made enough plays to win. Do you recall the unnecessary roughness penalty called on Germain Ifedi which stalled a long seattle drive? Did you see the replay of that play? Ifedi and the other seahawk players did absolutely nothing and got a 15 yarder. There were bad calls on both sides. The bobby wagner one, I’m not sure he used his teammates to vault. It looked like he may have put his hands on their shoulders, but hard to tell. Plus he did not get a running start, which is illegal and was why the ref threw the flag. He thought wagner got a running start but he did not. Go home and cry vikqueens.

Doesn’t matter. It was still illegal. Why have rules? Why can’t the officials call a correct game at your stadium? Stop justifying what was a mistake by the officials. Good win for the hawks, but stop justifying something that shouldn’t have happened.

  77. A few notes for ajzinneker: Fail Mary, actually the correct call. Simultaneous possession goes to offense. Defender should have knocked ball to ground but decided to pad his stat sheet instead of make the game sealing play. The Detroit pat, wrong call. Bobby Wagner block, looked like the wrong call. Pass interference on Rhodes, right call.

Incessant repeated whining about the refs, wrong call. Seattle should have won their first Super Bowl in 2005, we know about bad reffing. Also, almost every team benefits from refs at home, it’s not just the Hawks. Saying ‘cheating’ when referring to a penalty makes a poster sound like a fool. It’s a penalty, cheating would be a conspiracy to break the rules, like filming your opponent practicing… You don’t call false starts cheating, too, do you?

  78. I understand the Vikings played bad…but guess what. The Seahawks played bad too, just slightly better.

Not sure winning by 14 and then only because of a garbage TD is ‘just slightly better’.

“….Question…Both Hawks and Boys are 8-5. NFL.com shows Cowboys as 4th seed and Hawks as 5th seed. We beat the Boys in week 3, shouldn’t this be reversed??…”

The NFL playoffs consists of the 6 teams with the best records – the first 4 are DIVISION
WINNERS – 1,2,3,4 the extra two are WILD CARDS.. it does not matter that Your
Hawks beat the COWS earlier this season – because the Cows are been assumed to
The NFC-East Division Winner.. Your Hawks are going in as WILD CARDS because Los Angeles
are the West Winners already. 1,2,3,4,5,6 (1&2 take a nap and will risk getting
bye week rust), while 3 (Division Winning Bears) vs. the 6 seed, and your Hawks
    (5) WILD CARD Vs. the Cows In Arlington (Wild Cards can not be Hosts, unless
the remaining 2 winners are both Wild Cards).. – CyberGuard 18

  80. Lots of hate for Cousins in here, and some mentions of the OL not giving him enough time. But what about stone handed WRs? I counted at least three drops of perfectly catchable passes. Can’t blame Kirk for those, nor can you blame him for the subsequent distrust. Of course he didn’t pull a miracle out, not many could, but a QB needs to have good receiving weapons and a decent amount of time to throw before it’s fair to hold his feet to the fire for not earning his money.
