James Conner return against the Patriots is “possible”

The Steelers ruled running back James Conner out with an ankle injury early last week, but that’s not the case this time around.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said at his Tuesday press conference that Conner had a good week rehabbing his injury and that it is “possible” he returns to the lineup against the Patriots.

Tomlin said the team will monitor Conner’s condition throughout the week and see how everything unfolds before making a final decision. Wednesday will bring the first practice and first injury report of the week.

Jaylen Samuels and Stevan Ridley stepped into the running back role with Conner sidelined against the Raiders. They combined for 32 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, so the team will be looking for better production on the ground regardless of who is active for the game.

  1. I’ve learned to never listen to any “medical report” coming from the mouth of Mike Tomlin

  2. Ridley and Samuels didn’t catch any passes or score any TD’s?

Sure they didn’t put up Bell/Conner numbers, or anywhere close to what anyone wanted. But give a fair comparison.

The team that can run the ball and get play action going will be greatly advantaged. If the Patriots can move the ball on the ground, the Steelers shaky secondary will hard pressed to stop Brady.

  4. I’d love to see Ridley AKA Fumblina out there against the Pats instead of Connor. He’ll be good for 1-2 turnovers all on his own

  5. I hope Belichick goes so Old School on the Pat’s in practice this week that it will be a relief for them to get to this game, and they’ll be so afraid of another Hell week that they actually play their first good road game of the season. That stink has gotta get washed off before the playoffs.

  6. Conner’s injury sounds more serious then they’re letting on, hopefully he will be good to go because samuels is still not performing up to potential

Much as it pains me to say, I think this Steelers secondary would be hard-pressed to stop Bledsoe … coming off his couch … without any prep.

  8. Mike Tomlin will try to outsmart Bill again and it will completely backfire.
It will be great. I can’t wait.

  9. Patriots’ defense would like nothing more than to stuff an injured player right into the ground. I realize Samuels and Ridley put up an awesome 2 years per carry last week, but forcing an injured player to go out there and get demolished is just foolish. Plus, I thought the whole problem was the kicker. Get your story straight.

    LOL…. nuff said

  11. You can bet right now that after the spewing. Steelers lose this game that the NFL dram queens will be spewing lots of nonsense. And Tomlin will be blaming the Patriots for some imaginary carp like he usually throws out there. He never has been man enough to admit when he’s been out coached.
