Report: Jaguars interviewing Darrell Bevell for offensive coordinator Tuesday

AP

The Jaguars are set to meet with a candidate to run their offense on Tuesday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that former Vikings and Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will interview for the same position in Jacksonville. Bevell, who emerged as a candidate at the end of the regular season, is slated to meet with Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone.

Bevell worked as a consultant with the Falcons last offseason and has also interviewed with the team for their coordinator opening, but the signs point for former Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter returning to Atlanta for a second stint with the team.

The Jaguars fired Nathaniel Hackett during the 2018 season and quarterbacks coach Scott Milanovich took over the job for the remainder of the season.

  1. With Coughlin and Marrone in charge, the Old Boy network knows exactly where to go if they’re looking for work.

  2. If the Jags want WR screens on third and long, or HB Draws please hire this guy you’ll get exactly what you want. Also with Fournette in the backfield the gameplan every week will look like: Run, Run, Pass, Punt…Rinse Repeat till someone makes a magical play.
Really the Seahawks offense worked well under him for so long because Marshawn broke so many tackles in the backfield and Russell made ridiculous escapes from the pocket and made a broken play happen or when Russell was in a two minute drill and he was calling plays at the LOS. The play design to get a certain person open on a route concept or scheme up a running play to pop a big run didn’t come from Bevell’s head…

  3. Jags…. they could hire ANYBODY as offensive coordinator & it wouldn’t make a difference…. they have a BACK UP AT BEST for a QB….until that changes, their Super Bowl will always be when they play the Patriots……

  4. Lol the Seahawks replaced Bevell with another guy who calls for WR screens on third and long, or HB Draws, and the gameplan every week will look like: Run, Run, Pass, Punt…Rinse Repeat till someone makes a magical play.

  5. I see the continued trend of Patriots fans having to add their 2 cents to Jaguars articles. These articles have literally nothing to do about the Patriots, yet they always crawl out from under their bridges to add some remark about playing the Patriots = their superbowl. Your dynasty is coming to an end soon and I imagine you all will finally be quiet when you return to being an average team once Bill and Brady are gone. Gronk is already on his way out. Move along trolls. The regular season has been over for a few weeks now.

  6. They can’t be serious about hiring this guy. If I were the owner I’d step in and say if you are going to hire this guy then I’m firing all of you.

Does he get to have Russell Wilson? The Jags better draft well at QB or they’re in trouble.

Wilson is not coming and the Jags have already demonstrated that they don’t know how to draft a QB. Solution? I understand that there is a former Super Bowl MVP QB available in B’more. Management should seriously pursue Flacco. He would instantly become the best QB the Jags have had since Brunell.

  8. I thinks it’s a good fit. If the Jags ever make the playoffs again and have a second and goal from the one you can bet Bevel won’t call a pass play with Bortles behind the wheel.

  9. He wouldn’t be so bad if her didn’t wear a blindfold during the games and try to call plays. Also…if he understood that establishing the RUN makes play action a viable option. Instead…he likes to establish the run…then on 3rd and short go empty backfield. That’s always fun.
