Final 2019 NFL Draft order is settled

OK, football season’s over, what do we do next?

Oh yeah, football season.

With the Patriots winning Super Bowl LIII last night, they locked up the 32nd and final spot in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Rams will own the 31st overall pick. It’s that time of year (the Scouting Combine is later this month).

Even though the Patriots have won six Super Bowls — which comes with the privilege of picking last in each round — they’ve only actually used the 32nd pick three times because they trade a lot too. Those players were Benjamin Watson (2004, when they also took Vince Wilfork 21st), Logan Mankins (2005), and Malcom Brown (2015).

Of course, picking 31st didn’t bother the Patriots last year, as they used that spot on running back Sony Michel who was as big a part of their title run this year as any offensive player not named Tom Brady.

Here’s a look at the draft order as it stands after the conference championship games:

1. Cardinals 3-13

2. 49ers 4-12

3. Jets 4-12

4. Raiders 4-12

5. Buccaneers 5-11

6. Giants 5-11

7. Jaguars 5-11

8. Lions 6-10

9. Bills 6-10

10. Broncos 6-10

11. Bengals 6-10

12. Packers 6-9-1

13. Dolphins 7-9

14. Falcons 7-9

15. Washington 7-9

16. Panthers 7-9

17. Browns 7-8-1

18 Vikings 8-7-1

19. Titans 9-7

20. Steelers 9-6-1

21. Seahawks 10-6

22. Ravens 10-6

23. Texans 11-5

24. Raiders (via Bears 12-4)

25. Eagles 9-7

26. Colts 10-6

27. Raiders (via Cowboys 10-6)

28. Chargers 12-4

29. Chiefs 12-4

30. Packers (via Saints 13-3)

31. Rams 13-3

32. Patriots 11-5

  1. The Steelers are hard at work seeing what malcontent everybody else is going to pass on so they can get another diva in the fold.

  2. The eagles need to draft the top cornerback left when they pick or trade up for one. Because their defensive backfield was their achilles heel in 2018.

  3. Sooooo once again we pick in one of the last 2 slots…..

Don’t matter……. we don’t need superstars we need football players….

Once again as Super bowl champs we face the tougher schedule yet again next years….no matter we are champions and the best of the best rise to the top no matter the challenge.

    #6 #6 #6 #6 #6 …..now we begun the hunt for # Seven…….

  4. Where are the Bears? Oh, that’s right Pace gambled them all away with Trubustky and Mack. They will miss the playoffs next year. BOOK IT!

You’re right, Bears are screwed without that 24th overall pick. Would’ve been much more of a difference maker than Mack.

I think what you meant to say is this, “With little cap space and only a few draft picks in the 2019 (3,4,5,7) the Bears will probably lose 2 starters on defense and 1-2 on offense with little chance to getting better at those positions.”

Patriots need a young TE, but even if the #1 ranked guy is avail at 32 they’ll take a DT or o-lineman.

If T.J. Hockenson (TE, Iowa) is there at #32, the Patriots _HAVE_ to take him.

  8. Pats actually got a young TE on the team already…..
(Stephen Anderson)….he’s more of a MOVE TE as opposed to being the complete package that Gronk is, so my guess is they don’t draft one this year, especially if they end up restructuring D Allen’s contract & keep him

Pats with 12 picks, 5 in the top 100
    lol

    Actually, I believe it’s 6
    1st
    2 2nds
    3 3rds

  10. Good time to remind fans that Brady was a 6th round pick while MVP Edelman was a 7th round pick.

Unsung heros, Ryan Allen was undrafted and Mathew Slater was a 5th round pick.

If TJ Hockenson is available at #32 I’d put my money on Belichick drafting him.

  12. Patriots probably won’t draft Brady’s successor this year as the quarterback draft class seems weaker than usual I’m guessing a defensive lineman or a linebacker for Belichick’s first pick.

Raider Nation was sure hoping those additional 1st Round Picks were a lot higher than they are.

I’m perfectly happy with those late 1st rounder for us. We’re much better off with those financially. And we have a far better chance of trading down (and acquiring a 2nd or 3rd and a future 1st) at the back end of round one.

  14. It’ll be interesting to see what the Cardinals do at #1. I wouldn’t be surprised if they stand pat and draft Haskins. Only they know how Josh Rosen is behind the scenes. Of course they’ve already said they’re committed to him. To do otherwise would be to forever alienate him and also kill any trade value before things get rolling.

  15. Congrats to Patriots left tackle Trent Brown. He did nothing wrong but was dumped by the lowly Frisco 9ers, and he got a Super Bowl ring from the team he was traded to for next to nothing.

  16. Patriots Cheating. Groundhog day.

Patriots picking #32……All is right in the world once again!!!!
    GROUNDHOG DAY!!!

  17. Seahawks will get a trade offer to move down and stay in the first round, then they will take ALLEN out of Boston College. Many will see this as a reach but the kid is talented in a deep draft class for DE/EDGE rushers but the Seahawks don’t have a 2nd/3rd pick this year so they’re going to get the kid they really like. He is a beast.

Are you KIDDING me? Mitch was the third best QB (total QBR) in the NFL and if Mack isn’t worth a late first round pick, nobody is. If Pace “gambled” I want him by my side the next time I go to Vegas.
