Derrius Guice posts sprinting video

The last we heard about the condition of Washington running back Derrius Guice had an infection in his knee after surgery to repair a torn ACL and needed three additional operations to deal with the issue.

Wednesday brought a more positive update about how things are going for the 2018 second-round pick.

Guice posted a video of himself sprinting at full speed that was captioned with “we working with fire.” Guice tore his ACL in early August during the first quarter of the team’s first exhibition game of the year.

The injury led Washington to sign Adrian Peterson to their roster. The veteran went on to run 251 times for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns as the team’s lead back.

Peterson has expressed interest in continuing to play and the team has reportedly had preliminary talks with him about a return for the 2019 season. Guice would presumably slot in behind him, at least to start, if both players are on the roster and Chris Thompson is also under contract in the backfield.

  1. How is this going to work with AP trying to come back? We seen what happend last time he wasn’t getting the ball

  2. Glad to see any player come back from an injury. But the ACL is as much or more about cutting than just straight running. Sounds like good progress though.

  3. Seems like every Redskin player who goes in for an operation gets some kind of serious infection afterward. Might be a good idea to check out other hospitals in the DC area.

Not just the Skins either. John Wall just got a surgery infection too.

  5. This guy is a monster. Derrius ran past, around, and through defenders in the SEC like they weren’t even there. And Derrius did the same in his first preseason game. If Derrius is healthy, he could easily led the league in rushing. He is that talented. Great to see Derrius is on the road to recovery and I wish him well.

  6. Will sharing the ball be an issue?

    Here’s the solution:

Put this man on the field at the SAME time as Adrian Peterson.

Run 2 back sets Gruden. Scare the defenses with two monsters (Guice and Peterson) on the field at the same time. Who’s getting the ball? You never know. What happens when someone is tired? Hello Chris Thompson.
