Panthers extend Eric Reid

Eric Reid will remain in Carolina.

Reid, the safety who signed a one-year contract with the Panthers during the 2018 season, has signed a three-year extension, according to NFL Media.

Before Reid signed with the Panthers, he hired the same lawyer Colin Kaepernick hired to sue the NFL for collusion. Reid was the first player to join Kaepernick in kneeling during the national anthem, and Reid remained unemployed for a suspiciously long time once his contract with the 49ers expired.

But once the Panthers signed Reid there were no issues and little controversy surrounding Reid’s protest. Now the Panthers have decided they want to stay in the Eric Reid business for years to come.

  1. One of the best Safety’s and teammates in the league. His willingness to play Outside Linebacker, injured, in a contract year for the 49ers speaks volumes of his character.

  2. The only game they won since they acquired Reed was the last game of the season.

And the Saints rested a lot of starters in that game.

    Great MOVE! LOL

I’m sure it was because of one safety and not because their QB was so worn down he admitted he couldn’t throw a ball 30 yards…

Um, what? He was benched week 2 his last year with the Niners. They tried him at hybrid linebacker because he hits hard but got burned all the time as a safety. He wasnt a good hybrid linebacker either. As a matter of fact, his last year with the Niners was his worst year. Eric Reid isnt worth the headache.

Him picking fights before one of his first games as a Panther speaks volume about his character as well. I notice as well that he’s been silent about the urine samples he had to take as well ever since the NFLPA even agreed he wasn’t being tested abnormally often. Just wanted something to complain about I guess and play victim for.

  6. A good football player and better human being. Definitely a role model and somebody who will make a difference in the communities. Good for him and the Panthers.

  7. Is this a joke or something? Beyond being a locker room “activist” this guy isn’t a very good safety anymore (watch any game he played last year if you need proof). Wow, Wow, Wow. The stupidity of some NFL teams is amazing.

  8. When he’s in position, he can really hit. Maybe the coaching staff thinks that a whole training camp with the starters will pay off. I hope so.

  9. NFL contracts don’t mean much these days….I’m sure if he’s not contributing, he can be jettisoned at little or no cost. It is interesting how the deep took a steep nose dive after his arrival though.

  10. He’s good! Had to make adjustments on a new team last season, meaning he’ll be even better! Great move Panthers, Tepper and Rivera!!!

  11. So many “talent evaluators” on here trying to say he’s not good. Lol, obviously Carolina thinks so. He’s definitely a guy a lot of people in the locker room love and respect. Very educated, respectful human being with a purpose in life. You really can’t ask for more out of a football player and someone you’d want your child to be like.

  12. So keep a guy who is not only a huge distraction on and off the field, but a guy who played half a season and allowed more yds and tds than 95% of the safeties in the league.

  13. Well the Panthers just lost my money. I take my family on a road trip every year to an away game, trying to visit a different place every year, and I know my favorite team will most likely be playing at Carolina in 2020. I have family that recently moved to North Carolina so I was already planning on that being the away game road trip for the year. I can now guarantee that this veteran will not be spending a single penny to ever go to a Panthers game.

  14. I love how he said today that his signing was confirmation of collusion by the NFL…what a complete idiot.

  15. I’m no mathematician, but if he signed in week 4 and the panthers went 6-2 before Cam’s shoulder injury, I’m pretty sure they won more than just the last game of the season with him in the locker room. But if it fits your narrative that he’s bad news, I guess numbers don’t matter.

  16. This is clear evidence of collusion by the owners – to set a market price for a safety – or in this case, overpay for a safety…. Where is “quick draw SJW” now? Normally we can expect a 1,000 word essay/manifesto within minutes of any SJW news breaking.

  17. For those who have a bias against Eric Reid, the facts are his stats are up. Good signing. https://www.rotoworld.com/football/nfl/player/7554/eric-reid
