Hard Knocks reportedly interested in Jets, but Jets aren’t interested

Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted that the G.O.A.T. title doesn't apply to any team because there hasn't been one who has won three consecutive titles.

Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams had a starring role on Hard Knocks last season as a member of the Cleveland coaching staff and there’s reportedly interest in having him back for another run in 2019.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that NFL Films has not spoken to the team yet, but that there’s interest in having the Jets appear on the program. Their interest is likely connected to a coaching staff that features Williams and Joe Vitt, who told NFL investigators that Williams lied when he spoke to them during the investigation into bounty allegations against the Saints.

If they do approach the Jets, it will be a short conversation. Mehta reports the Jets aren’t interested and a league source tells PFT that there’s “no chance” the team agrees to take part.

Because they have a new head coach in Adam Gase and because they appeared on the show in 2010, the Jets cannot be compelled to welcome cameras to training camp. Given Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer’s recent comments about picking up the Rams offense from similar series, the Jets probably won’t be the only team reluctant to have their moment in the spotlight.

Five teams -- Washington, Detroit, Oakland, San Francisco and the Giants -- cannot refuse to take part in the show this year.
