Report: NFL likely to review incident involving Ezekiel Elliott

AP

If the video from Las Vegas had involved almost anyone else, no one would have batted an eye. But because it was Ezekiel Elliott bumping a security guard, the NFL likely will review the incident, Charles Robinson of Yahoo.com reports.

The league did not respond to multiple requests for comment from PFT over the past week, but the report comes as no surprise considering the running back’s history.

After a legal battle, Elliott served a six-game suspension in 2017 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. The NFL informed Elliott then that he could face further discipline for additional contact with authorities, though “it was not spelled out what the threshold would ultimately be to trigger another personal conduct violation,” per Robinson.

Robinson, citing a source in the league’s executive branch, added that a video incident of Elliott pulling down the shirt of a woman and exposing her breast during a 2017 St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dallas was deemed a personal conduct violation despite no arrest or complaint from the woman.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones and owner Jerry Jones both have dismissed any concern about the most recent incident. But then, the Cowboys also never expected the NFL to suspend the two-time rushing champion for the domestic abuse allegations made against Elliott by an ex-girlfriend.

Las Vegas police working a music festival Elliott attended last weekend placed him in handcuffs but did not arrest him. The security guard did not want to press charges after Elliott bodied him backward and gave him a forearm into a metal gate.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will determine whether he perceives “actual or threatened physical violence against another person” in the Las Vegas video, according to Robinson.

  1. I bet it drags on until November. He will be suspended the day before they play the Patriots.

  2. Will there ever be an off season when a Cowboy player does not end up doing something STUPID?

  3. At least this helps in the negotiations on a new contract, from the team and cap stand point. He’ll probably have to play out his current contract and prove he can stay out of trouble for a another year before any negotiations begin.

  4. Why do players keep putting themselves in these situations? If I was making that kind of money, I’d disappear..

You must be psyched that Flores is your new head coach!

  6. Hopefully this stays in the public eye long enough and with enough attention that Rodger can’t just ignore it and let it die from neglect.

How can the absence of action or comment on Tyreek Hill be explained?

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

There is a active police investigation going on with Hill. The NFL cannot interview anyone until the police are finished. Your hate towards Goodell is ridiculous.

simple, hill plays for the chiefs, a team that could help derail the pats

mccoy, fowler, derek wolfe, ray rice, robby anderson, shelly richardson, kareem hunt, etc, all players on afc teams that, if removed off their team, makes it easier on the pats on the schedule.

That is the pattern…Meanwhile, phantom positive drug tests pop up for pats playets with bizarre or no explanations from the league

    hmmm

  9. The NFL should be concerned that the Cowboys aren’t more concerned. This guy knows he’s on thin ice with the personal conduct policy and yet here he is again seen in public acting a fool.

  10. This really wouldn’t matter much in the great scheme of things EXCEPT for the fact this either the 4th incident in the last 3 seasons. BUT, unless the tape shows that Elliot instigated the incident and it was more violent that it sounds in the post, this probably shouldn’t engender more than a fine from the league.

That being said, isn’t it about time the league actually DOES something about all the issues they are supposedly investigating like Hill and Kraft. It’s about time they either impose a sanction on them or clear them.

It took them about 2 seconds to suspend Ben Watson for taking a prescribed medication AFTER he retired and stopped taking BEFORE he signed with the Pats. So what’s taking so long on these others. Like most things Park Ave does, incompetence rules the roost. Seems like its the Marx Brothers have been handling these investigations.

  11. Elliot is in big trouble. he doesn’t play for one of Roger’s sacred teams. NY teams, Colts, Chiefs, Ravens or Steelers.

  12. The investigation will take at least a year. Then after the investigation section
of the NFL recommends no suspension and a makes a factual finding that
Elliot did nothing wrong, he will suspended for the max. The decision will be based
Roger Goodell’s “ hunch”. Which unfortunately is legally enough for an Appellate court
to uphold Goodell’s decision. To all employees, never, ever agree to a disciplinary
procedure where the decision is not appealable to an arbitrator, mediator or Judge.
Goodell could testify that he flipped a coin and that’s enough.

I love the narrative that a league all about parity and trying to ensure new teams each year in the playoffs somehow loves and favors the Patriots, the team that just keeps winning amongst a these rule changes . So is it the stealing of draft picks or suspending the MVP QB for 1/4 year while re-writing science books that makes the NFL favor the Pats?

  14. Since the league is incapable of handing out consistent and equitable punishment for off the field issues, the only logical course is to get out of that business and leave it to the court system and public opinion to deal with it. The NFL has enough on field issues that they haven’t been able to fix without trying to be big brother off of it. And a related issue–has there ever been a union that did less to protect its members?

Yet Tyreek Hill is being left alone. SMH
    +++++++++++++++
I agree. And even Josh Gordon too but you ain’t going to anything about that.

  16. .
    lol…
    yeah he did nothing wrong…
probably should ignore the first part of the video where he was in an argument with the GF and was trying to stop her, you know without pushing her over with an elbow

  17. The league didn’t respond to multiple efforts by Yahoo Sports for comment. Yet they report that the league is likely to review the incident. So really they are guessing and have no facts from the league. Nice high quality reporting.

  18. why couldn’t he have walked his millionaire a** away from a really X 💯 petty situation. he’s looking at not winning another league rushing title and maybe costing his teammates a potential playoff berth. it seems to me Roger loves paddling offenders imo he has a line em’ up mentality. they ought draw a cartoon of him with a paddle in his hand doling out suspensions because imo he loves it. is he gonna suspend zeke for this. imo 2 games minimum. zeke could and should have walked away and since he hasn’t learned to stay away from the drama i’m inclined to believe he will always be caught up in petty drama his entire career. such a waste of prime talent 😔

  19. Im not a Dallas fan.. But that alleged “incident” is RIDICULOUS. Maybe in some small jurisdiction some security guy might try to alleged some pathetic assault. But “that” level assault could be brought against any number of Friday night drinking CEO’s stockbrokers, and a gazillion other drinking bar patrons across the country.

For a professional sport that is as “lawfully” violent as football to even consider this NON incident as anything worth even discussing a “suspension” is ridiculous and total hypocrisy.

  20. Tyreek Hill isn’t suspended from the NFL because there’s still no proof they can use at this moment. Don’t worry though, Hill still trash. Doesn’t mean Zeke is a good guy though.

  21. His attitude, and the fact that it happened is a big deal because of the past stuff, but the “push” wasn’t much of anything and it looked like the guy kinda flopped or was nudged into a trip. I can’t see much happening here.

  22. This was a pretty minor issue. The video showed him acting like a lout and a jerk but if we grade this on how it would be if it was not a famous figure then its nothing. Law enforcement already dealt with it following the same standard as they would for anyone so thats good for them. Those wanting it treated like the crime of the century are just letting their sports bias creep in.

But that said, if Goodell was to punish him (something small, (a game and/or a fine) not for committing a crime but simply as a way to say “quit being an idiot” I would have a hard time arguing with that.

  23. He got in the kids face and chest bumped him, then if you watch his right elbow, he shoves him and he trips over the barricade, 6 games at least.

  24. I don’t know why, but the Cowboys certainly aren’t one of the favored teams of Herr Goodell.

    How do I know this?

Because we get quick-fire ‘reports’ and ‘leaks’ immediately – contrast that to the super serious Tyreek Hill issue – and you don’t get a hint of a similar ‘report’ – and anything that is said on the subject has to be dragged out of the Furher himself.

  25. What about the girl who was trying to get away from him? His blocking her was much more egregious than the bump to a security guard…the reason the security guard was there in the first place.

Great comment, until you called people who hate Goodell ridiculous. He is garbage, no matter what Zeke or tyreek did.

  28. Why can’t Elliot act like a normal human being? Had it been anyone else, they would have been tossed in the slammer at least overnight and they might have been charged with some sort of assault. Let’s not pretend Elliot is being picked on.

  29. what a joke! It’s ok to beat children but watching a security guard flop because zeke was in his face is not, lmao Goodell you truly are a 🤡

  30. How are people on here seriously asserting that the cowjokes are favored by Goodell? His decision last time on Zeke was flimsy, overzealous, and borderline draconian. Subsequently it induced a protracted all out power war between Goodell and Jones who ultimately had to bend the knee, which I found enjoyable cause as much as I dislike Goodell at times I find Jones to be absolutely insufferable… at any rate, It’s shocking how short some of you guys memories are.

  31. This should be investigated. Elliott is a ‘me first’ punk. You never heard about Emmitt Smith being involved in any crap like this.

I cant believe how many people read an article about a Cowboys player in Las Vegas during the offseason and could only think of it in terms regarding the Patriots,

There is also no proof that Brady or any Pats employees tampered with footballs as was proven in a federal court.

Goodell then appealed based on his limitless power via Article 46.

You must have been asleep when this happened. We all warned what it meant.

We have a guilty plea on a domestic of Hill in college and an audio tape of his gf with him admitting he has hurt the child.

Has there even been an NFL interview of Tyreek Hill? Why wasn’t there one of Kareem Hunt since this is such sensitive material for the NFL?

    Hmm?

You spend 5 million to frame Brady and the Pats to cheat, but then bury Article 46 on domestics?

Just what planet are you and Goodell on? Please enlighten us.

  34. I just find it funny that Reuban foster was accused of DV 3 times, arrested twice, including arrest for guns and weed, and attacked a medical staffer at the combine before the draft and he has served 2 games
Zeke, no weed arrest, never been charged or arrested
has already served 6 games and may get more
    seems equitable

Elliott was framed, but he isn’t framed here. He’s drunk and knocks the guy down.

I find it funny how people can try to change what a video shows us.

It’s like Derek Wolfe punching a civilian out in a bar 3 years ago and Goodell does nothing.

sex between consenting adults is just that

the fact you and others so badly want more out of that, is disturbing

  37. He was bullying his girlfriend. Then, he threatened a security guy. He’s a turd. He and Tyreek Hill should share a jail cell not the privilege of being an nfl player.

  39. Zeke’s lack of having a brain will most likely cost him millions in the long run.
