Davante Adams thinks Geronimo Allison will be “dangerous” in Packers offense

After an offseason spent discussing the possible ways that the new offense in Green Bay could look, one of the things we’ll be looking forward to seeing come September is how the unit actually performs when they put head coach Matt LaFleur’s plays in motion.

Wide receivers will play a big role in any outcome and the makeup of that group has been another talking point over the course of the offseason. One of the things that we do know on that front is that the wideouts are not expected to be strictly outside or slot receivers over the course of a game.

Davante Adams thinks that will suit his teammate Geronimo Allison well.

“He’s the guy who’s been working a lot in the slot, and he’s used to playing a little more outside, but this is making him a little more dynamic,” Adams said, via the team’s website. “I think Matt has really tested him or challenged him to widen it out so he can play multiple spots. . . . Him being able to move around right now and be healthy, be himself and just play, being able to have all those things, it’s going to be dangerous.”

Allison got off to a strong start last season, but a series of injuries caused him to miss 11 games before the year is out. If LaFleur feels the same way Adams does, he should get plenty of opportunities to make up for lost time.

Hope he’s right! Is it weird that he called him Matt instead of coach?
    _________

Not at all. Although it is a little weird that LaFleur calls Davante “Mr. Adams.”

I thought Aaron Rodgers made it perfectly clear they will he running his plays and not LaFleur’s

  3. Oh no! There is positive things being said about the Packers WR’s! I must post on several SN’s and cry immediately!

Also, Davante said Matt because if he hadn’t you could have thought he was talking about WR coach Alvis Whitted. Players called McCarthy by his first name as well. What is “weird” is that this was even brought up.

  4. The best thing about Geronimo is that he has an actual QB throwing him the ball, and not some guy that struggles to beat winning teams. Here’s a sampling for good ol’ Kirk.

    Primetime games: 5-14
VS Winning teams: 4-26! THAT’S FOUR WINS AND TWENTY SIX LOSSES
    On Monday night: 0-8!

If the best thing you can say about a wide receiver has nothing to do with the wide receiver himself, you probably don’t have much confidence in the wide receiver.

Or were you just trying to insert some irrelevant information about another team because you have a psychological condition that requires you to mention that team in every comment?

  7. I had high expectations last year for this guy.

Stay on the field, and show us.

While I appreciate the sentiment – there’s no need to harp on 4 and 26 please. Thanks.

  9. One of the best stories to come out of minicamp was the news that Geronimo was 100% healthy, and the abdominal injury that ended his season last fall shouldn’t be an issue moving forward.

Very excited about the new structured offense, and though I know there will be a few bumps and bruises along the way, I believe Adams, Allison and MVS will end up being a formidable trio of receivers.

  10. Allison averaged 253yd/yr for the last 3yrs and now he’s going to be dangerous, YEA OK!

  11. Still missing the playoffs for THREE straight years. I can’t wait for the excuse to why the Packers are a complete dumpster of a team except with one player who looks like his better days are behind him.

Never heard a player refer to BB as Bill. Even Brady calls him coach Belicheck.

  17. Geronimo Allison has 64 or more yards receiving in 7 of his 8 career starts.

64 yards per game over a full year is 1024 yards…more than Steffon Diggs has ever had over a full year. Just sayin.

  18. The 13 Time World Champions are rounding into shape nicely. I almost feel sorry for their opponents.

The only ones rounding into shape in Green Bay are Packer fans

Imaginary numbers and projections are fun! Like if Diggs played the packers every week he would be putting up near record numbers (check the box scores). Fact is this wannabe Allison is just an injury prone guy who talks a big game at this point.

Allison doesn’t talk much. This article was about Adams talking about Allison… did you skip it?

That is imagination of the highest order, indeed. How about some more looking into the crystal ball of 2019? The halcyon days of Mr Diggs comes to a screeching halt as he realizes that the revamped defense of the Packers isn't the same as days of yore. By golly Alexander and Savage AND Amos can really ball. The worm is turning.

Who would have thought that Davante was talking about Alvis Whitted? Most people have no clue who Alvis is.

Davante should have said “Coach LaFleur” if he was worried about any confusion.

    ###

Actually, it’s 2 playoff wins in the last decade. You missed the 34 – 3 drubbing of the Cowboys on January 17, 2010.

But it’s incredible that a fan of a team that didn’t win a playoff game at the end of a full season from January 1968 until January 1994 would bring that up.

What makes matters worse – is the Packers didn’t even score a single TD in their ONE (1) playoff appearance during that QUARTER CENTURY…

Just for point of reference – In the last decade, the Vikings scored 117 points in the playoffs of the last decade. The Packers scored just 3 points in the playoffs at the end of a complete season for 25 years.

George Santayana said – “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

So you’ve got two years down, 23 more to go….

Another way of saying that is Geronimo Allison has played in 30 career games and played moderately well in 8 of them.

And if we’re going to project stats out over a full year, Diggs has more than 1,024 yards in two seasons. He’s averaged 64.2 yards a game over his career, while Allison has averaged 24.9. If you’re trying to make the argument that Allison is better than Diggs, I don’t think you’ve convinced many people.

“the Vikings scored 117 points in the playoffs”

This pales in comparison to the Packers 457 playoff points in the last decade. You usually carefully select your data to make Minnesota seem more successful than Green Bay….are you feeling ok?

  27. If you’re trying to make the argument that Allison is better than Diggs, I don’t think you’ve convinced many people.

    +++++

You could just read what I said at face value, instead of inventing an argument or “rewording” my words.

In 7 of 8 career starts Allison had at least 64 yards receiving.

There’s at least one 1st round WR from the 2016 draft who never even had 48 yards receiving in any one game. I do contend Allison is better than him.

  28. The Packers top 4 receivers are better than the Vikings top 4 receivers.

And the Packers have a QB who can get the ball to them.

The Vikings won’t get to .500 this year.
