Bears will wear a revised uniform for half of their home games

When the Bears host the Packers to commence the 100th season in team and league history, the Bears will be wearing their usual uniforms. For four of the remaining seven home games, they won’t be.

The Bears have announced the uniform configurations for their 2019 home games, and in half of the games they’ll be wearing a variation on their normal attire.

On September 29 and December 5 (against the Vikings and Cowboys, respectively), the Bears will wear their 1936 throwbacks. On October 27 (against the Chargers), the Bears will go hunting in their blaze orange jerseys. And on November 24 (against the Giants), the Bears will replace the orange “C” on their helmet with an all-white logo, as part of the effort to honor the 1960s era of the franchise.

It’s unusual that the Bears have opted to keep their modern uniforms for Week One, given the significance of the game. I’m still holding out hope for a post-warmups, pre-kickoffs switcheroo, Mean Machine-style.

  1. Not “unusual” at all.

“Significance” of the game is the point. Week one is a very significant game and is the opening game of the NFL’s 100th season.

You will never see teams wearing throw-backs/gimmick uniforms in the playoffs or the Super Bowl either.

  2. The opening Packer/Bear game is just business as usual for these two teams.
I’m quite sure the league will pack that night with sufficient and unnecessary bells and whistles to make any true football fan vomit.
But when we finally get to the blood and guts of the game, it’ll all be good.

  3. The Rams had to ask permission from the league to make those uniforms their regular home uniform for last season and thus that extended to the Super Bowl.

Normally a team would have not been allowed to wear any other uniform than their current one.

  4. Please, please, please LA Rams, go back to the blue and white color scheme. It is a crisp, beautiful look.

  5. Ah lets see if the Bears fans who already own all the jerseys they want will spend more money on “throwbacks” or “alternate uniforms”

  6. Please, please, please LA Rams, go back to the blue and white color scheme. It is a crisp, beautiful look.

‘deed they are! And their neighbors should go back to the pre-Nike powder blues. Of course, if Nike can’t respect red, white and blue, it’s a lot to ask of them to not screw up that glorious shade.

Not sure if you’re joking here. The Chargers announced they will wear powder blues and yellow facemasks this year.

The only people that care are the 41 up votes you gave your self. Such a life. Poor green and yellow.
