NFL suspends Jets’ Chris Herndon four games

The Jets have indicated this offseason that they think tight end Chris Herndon is going to have a big role in the new offense, but that won’t come until the fifth game of the season.

The NFL announced today that Herndon is suspended for the first four games of the season.

Herndon’s suspension comes as a result of his guilty plea to a DUI case. His suspension is longer than most for first-time DUI offenders, which suggests that there were some extenuating circumstances that led the NFL to view this case as more serious than most.

As a rookie out of Miami last year, Herndon caught 39 passes for 502 yards and four touchdowns. He played all 16 games in 2018, but he won’t be eligible to join the active roster this season until Monday, October 7. Herndon will participate in training camp and the preseason but go on the suspended list in Week One.

  1. He got four games from an almost two year old DUI because somebody “claimed” they were hurt. Yet Tyreek and Kareem Hunt can go out and beat the breaks off people and still play welcome to the John Dorsey football league!

Hey, your buddy Goodell makes the rules. HE is a big, big fan of the NY teams, being a former Jets employee a fan and a NYer himself. He also just absolved Ezekiel Elliott with video evidence after framing him with NO evidence, so you tell us.

  3. This guy is like a big RB with the ball in his hands after the catch. One the best in the league at it.

  4. Setting the stage for throwing the book at Tyreek Hill. Not that Hill doesn’t deserve it.

    LOL

Goodell worked for the Jets as a college intern under Leon Hess, he was never an employee. I would also like to clue you in that the Hess family sold the Jets 20 + years ago..you need a break from this website man.

It happened in June 2018. And despite video of his drunken 100mph crash into another car and a rollover, he ridiculously actually fought it in the courts last year so that he could play. That alone deserves a 4 game. The woman was reportedly in the other car. They are both extremely lucky to be alive and frankly, I’m amazed he got such a light sentence but then he is a Jet and it was NJ courts…

  7. Maybe goodell can use his internship with the Jets as a resume item. When he deservedly gets ousted, he can become a jets ballboy and check on proper ball inflation.

  8. Goodell was never a Jets employee, he was an unpaid summer intern. Tlaw never lets facts get in the way of a good troll comment! Loser

An intern means you are working for a company, mouthbreather.

I interned in college and got paid, for example.

    Get to college, kid.

  10. Some players never learn from the past, when time comes wjere there is no passes for these guys the NFL will be better for it

It doesn’t matter how the green slime got on him. It never washes off.

  12. I hear wearing tin foil on your head also helps…

There is no conspiracy. No one likes NY teams more than any other. And this is probably the right call.

  13. Someone needs to tell TLaw we understand how tough it must be for him to love a team that has won it all for a decade but will forever have their victories tainted by multiple incidents of cheating, corner cutting and rule breaking. They could have been the GOAT, but never will be due to their own lack of character and integrity. Is that why he is obsessed with the Jets?
