Madden game will boost rating of Saints long snapper

Saints long snapper Zach Wood has the distinction of having the lowest rating in the new Madden game. Along with Raiders long snapper Trent Sieg, Wood has a 36. Apparently, Sieg will soon be standing alone.

Via Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, an EA representative has informed the Saints that Wood’s rating will be improved.

On Friday, the Saints posted a video of Wood hitting a copy of the new game from the hand of Saints long snapper Nick Moore.

“The pressure was on,” Wood, listed in the game as a tight end, said. “I’m not used to being on camera. I was worried. . . . If I miss this thing five or six times in a row, they’re gonna be like, ‘You deserved that 36 Madden rating.'”

Wood was surprised by the low rating, given that he snaps the ball to far-better-than-average punter Thomas Morstead and kicker Wil Lutz.

  1. Some day, Madden will realize that there’s no reason not to have a long snapper position in the game. It’s not a flashy job, but it’s stupid and insulting to just pretend that their job doesn’t exist and that they’re not good at it.

  2. I have never seen emotionally unstable edo-maniacs in my life!!! It is a game for cripes sake get over and do your job that you are paid to do. You are not paid to worry your video game rating wow.

Oh trust me, they know. But since they’re making so much money and there’s no competition, they don’t really care to improve anything other than Ultimate Team, since they can continue to support microtransactions there and make more money. I mean, there’s also no reason that coordinators aren’t in the game or that some of the animations/player faces haven’t changed in a decade or so, but as long as they’re making money for releasing a new roster every year, they’re not going to change anything major.

The “Madden Rating” thing is really just for publicity at this point, anyway. The guy who was in charge of it for years is gone now, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets simplified before eventually being discarded entirely.

  4. Average salary of a good long snapper is a 1 million per year. USFA long snappers are good bargains.

  5. I’m not saying his rating is right on but this is a reflection of today’s society. Cry and complain until you get your way which always happens.

  6. Do you know why you’ve never heard his name until this happened? He’s a damn good long snapper, that’s why.
