Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict takes shot at Bengals

We now can be assured of one more thing in life, and that’s that everything is relative.

Either that or after seven years, Vontaze Burfict found his spiritual home.

The veteran linebacker, who stacked up suspensions and fines like tackles with the Bengals, took a shot at his former team while talking about the Raiders’ upcoming “Hard Knocks” appearance.

“I just think it’s exciting for people to see what type of team we have because the team chemistry we have is just amazing,” Burfict told the Associated Press. “This is my second team, but it’s the first time I’ve had a team like this and everybody gets along. It doesn’t matter what type of day it is. We’re all here to see each other get better and motivate each other. We’ve got a lot of characters, in a good way.”

That must be it, that Burfict has just found his personal island of the misfit toys, a place where all the oddballs are just like him.

What the Bengals might have lacked in personality to suit him, they made up for in actual football success, having won 22 more games over the last seven years (62-50 to Oakland’s 40-72) than his new ideal of what an organization is supposed to look like.

  1. Oh and. The patience the Bengals showed for his out of control moments was …astonishing.

Well the last 3 years (MY)Raiders nor Bengals has made the playoffs so basically, I see no bright side ala (22 more wins)!!!

  3. Funny Vontaze, the Cincy locker room is echoing similar sentiments. When AJ says that one one the biggest differences are the people that aren’t there anymore, that says something. Good luck to you all the same… keep your head up when you tackle, or you won’t make it three games before you’re concussed again. Honestly, it will be interesting to see if Vontaze rebounds this year. He was a shell of himself last year. I remember watching Vance Macdonald rag-dolling him and thinking “who is that?”

  4. I put the over/under on fines for this guy at $100,000 this year…I’m betting the over.

  5. WOW just WOW! I’m no Bengals fan but how can this guy possibly lecture anybody on team chemistry. This is probably the most selfish player (not named Antonio Brown) in the NFL. Countless times he put his team in difficult positions with stupid penalties, many post whistle penalties.
Sorry , nobody’s buying it buddy. Only a matter of time until you head butt or hit late, head shot, make contact with a ref and put your team in a hole… again.

  6. Coming from the player that single handedly cost the Bengals a playoff win vs their arch rival..I put no stock in anything he says. He plays dirty because he is below average when he doesn’t.

  7. So let me get this straight …. My old car was lousy on gas, smelled like oil, and was hideous to look at. I buy a new car and say, “Hey I love my new car!”

That translates to “taking a shot” at my old car??

Interesting analogy, but I’d say this is more like you missing a payment on your 2016 Camry, then buying a $600 rust bucket on craigslist as a replacement, while acting like said rust bucket was an improvement. In other words, the guy is salty.
