Kirk Cousins complains about Garrett Bradbury’s sweating

The Vikings thoroughly scouted center Garrett Bradbury before using the 18th overall choice on him. They had all his measurables, watched all his tape and did background work.

But the Vikings missed something on their scouting report: Bradbury has a sweaty posterior.

That’s the word from quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is having a hard time gripping the ball when he takes snaps under center from Bradbury.

Cousins spent part of his press conference Wednesday talking about Bradbury’s sweat problem.

Cousins was asked what he wants to see from his rookie center in the preseason, and what he would most like to see is for Bradbury to stop sweating so much.

“I’m going to take it back to how much he sweats again,” Cousins said, via Andrew Krammer of the Star-Tribune. “He promises it’s not a problem in games, but it remains to be seen because his shorts today were soaked. He says it’s not a problem on game days, so the moment of truth Friday night. But apparently you know they keep these domes air conditioned. You get a break on the bench with those cooling fans. I’m hoping that really helps. That’s a big thing I’m going to take away from Friday night, was how tough was it to grip the ball after he snaps it to me? If it is tough, we might be in pistol and shotgun all year, which coach [Gary] Kubiak and Kevin [Stefanski] wouldn’t like very much.”

It is funny until it isn’t. Bradbury is the team’s starting center, so Cousins will have to figure out how to get a grip, so he doesn’t fumble.

  1. Having no filter creates awkward moments like this. Think before you speak and don’t embarrass people Kirk. None of this should ever have been said.

It’s a embarrassing thing to sweat a lot?

    This x 50,000.

  4. Wow. Where to begin…

Guess they’ll be running a lot of shotgun?
maybe this team is not good for a spread offense?
guessing this poor fellow won’t be vying for a TE spot any time soon?
you can’t blame, he can’t get a grip on the on sweaty balls…
When asked if they could make it work, the QB said “It depends.”

  5. I honestly kept waiting for the punchline as I read the article.

I’m a pretty lean muscle guy, so every center in the league seems huge and fat to me. Still, your telling me that this guys butt sweat is so significantly worse than the other centers in the league?

Further, in my football experience you put the top of your dominant hand under the center’s uhhh… groin. You don’t roll around in it and marinate in it. How wet can you get in their Kirk?

That is the problem with social media.

Cant put the toothpaste back in the tube.

  7. Waaaay… too much info. Bradbury should counter with a jab of his own like my sweat helps his accuracy cuz he needs all the help he can get. Or something to that effect.

  8. Mark Schlereth has done much much worse

    ______

Yes, he did, but he wasn’t a center, he was a left guard.

  9. ‘Mr. Spielman, line one. It’s the Sham Wow folks. The new Viking uniforms are ready.”

How can it even be enjoyable to watch football indoors??

You either haven’t been to US Bank Stadium or if you had a bad experience because your team lost the game.

  11. What a ridiculous Diva. Setting up his hilarious excuses early.
News Flash, Kirk: Athlete’s sweat! At least real athletes do.

Well, hopefully the training staff has plenty of talcum powder and fresh diapers for the rookie, so Kirk doesn’t have to sully his dainty hands.

And, I’m sorry, but air conditioning and football simply don’t equate with each other, talk about soft.
What’s he going to do Week 2 at Lambeau Field?
Bud Grant must simply be rolling over in his grave at pathetic comments like this.

  12. Kirk made a awkard attempt at being funny. He failed at the funny part, and he should have stopped there.

This actually leads me to believe that Kirk’s and Garrett’s relationship is going well and is a positive sign.

Not much else to see here.

If past performance is an indicator of future performance, my guess is he will throw the ball all over the field against the packers again.

    ____________

Actually, as bad as the Packers were last year, Cousins couldn’t even beat the Packers at Lambeau.
In fact, he threw a game sealing interception, but, well, we all know the end of that story.

So people don’t understand sarcasm when they read it, lol.

I think you mean “facetious.” Sarcasm doesn’t translate on the written page. The Simpsons did a whole show about it.

  16. Might as well just cut him then. Kirk needs perfect conditions, dry hands and an inferior opponent to succeed. Otherwise you’re just wasting every one of those 84 million dollars.

  17. Didn’t it occur to this idiot that the young fella might be nervous? Cousins forgets he was a rookie once. And why make this public to embarrass the boy further? No class. No manners. No man management skills Kirk. Sort it out!!
