Veteran guard Kyle Long was thrown out of practice by Bears head coach Matt Nagy after getting into a fight with rookie defensive lineman Jalen Dalton during the team’s mock game practice on Wednesday.

According to Arthur Arkush of Pro Football Weekly, Long ripped Dalton’s helmet off his head and sent it flying into the air in apparent retaliation for a block from Dalton against Long on an interception return. Long delivered a handful of punches to Dalton. Tackle Charles Leno forcibly removed Long from the fray.

It’s the third straight day the Bears have had a scuffle in practice with the Long-Dalton incident being the most significant.

“It’s the competitive nature of the guys,” Nagy said. “Yesterday to me was a little bit more of a pillow fight. Today I thought was a little bit, just like I said, it’s disappointing.

“That starts with us as coaches, making sure we lead these guys the right way. And we also make sure that, you know, they understand that that can’t happen. It just can’t happen. It’s not going to happen, but we’ll handle that internally. I’ll have man-to-man, one-on-one discussions with everybody to make sure it’s handled the right way.”

Long is getting to enter his seventh season with the Bears while Dalton is in his first NFL training camp.

  1. Reminds me of the scene from Rudy where the RB gets nailed and then flips out on Rudy. A rook going hard trying to make the team gets under the skin of the ol’ vet.

Raiders need a guard with Gabe going down for 8 weeks.

    __________

Considering our Raiders getting fleeced by the Bears in the Mack trade, we should not negotiate with the Bears at all. We have no QB nor a replacement for Mack, we got fleeced!

Fleeced? Then why did MIT rate it as the best trade of the year in the Raiders favor?

Because of the draft picks. They hold an unknown value though. The Bears knew exactly what they were getting in Mack and they already had a top defense in the league. Mack was worth every penny for the Bears. The Raiders got a bunch of high draft picks that could be busts or just average players. Raiders lack in the QB and DE department, so the Bears fleeced them guy.

    Genius. Amazing. Think next time.
