Titans and Patriots fight during joint workout

A day ago, Titans coach Mike Vrabel was engaged in some friendly trash talk with former teammate Tom Brady.

Today, he had to break up an actual fight.

According to Jim Wyatt of the Titans official website, a “brawl” including 15 to 20 players broke out, which Vrabel and Titans General Manager Jon Robinson ran in to break up.

Tom Curran of NBCSportsBoston.com called it a “pretty good dustup,” which escalated after Titans rookie wide receiver A.J. Brown “remained locked up” with Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore after the run play.

Without seeing video of it, it’s hard to know how bad it actually was, but the fact the coach and G.M. had to run into the pile says something.

Most coaches try to limit such events ahead of time, as Panthers coach Ron Rivera did this week in advance of his work with the Bills, calling such fights “bulls—.”

Why didn’t Belichick go out and stop the fight? What a wuss.

He was making notes to consider during his upcoming roster decisions.

New England has a score to settle with the Titans. The Titans stomped them last season.

I think when you win the Super Bowl you have pretty much settled all scores for that season.

The players probably just wanted to get tossed from practice so they could go back to the air conditioned locker rooms.

    Preseason score – Patriots 27 and Titans . . . brused.

Winning another Superbowl settled that score.

Umm, no. Many don’t think that. In fact, nobody thinks that. Good? Yes. Elite? Nope.

He had to save something for the SB…..something Marcus and the Titans don’t have to worry about

In camp guys are fighting to establish themselves or to remain more established than their competition. They are literally fighting for their hopes and dreams as well as their livelihoods during these drills. I think they are far more fired up over that than some regular season game that is by the clocks these guys live on ancient history (or pre-history for rookies)

So getting excited over a pre season game and then getting excited back with one of last years regular season games. You guys do know that neither of those matter?

  12. Why didn’t Belichick go out and stop the fight? What a wuss.

    ________

Right. A guy in his mid-late 60s stopping a fight.

    He has coaches for that.

  13. From a respected reporter.
Emotions rise at Patriots-Titans joint practice, with Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore and Titans rookie WR A.J. Brown locked up after whistle, with Patriots S Terrence Brooks getting in a few shoves as a crowd arrived at the scene. It was extinguished shortly thereafter.

  14. The two guys fighting are showing a lack of respect for the Packers new coach because they don’t like joint practices. Vikings trolls will be here shortly to blame Aaron Rodgers.
