Offensive lineman Korey Cunningham announced on Instagram that the Cardinals traded him to the Patriots on Wednesday.

“Arizona!! Man, it’s been a fun year and a half out in the desert!” Cunningham wrote. “Thank you to Mr. [Bidwill], Steve Keim, and the Cardinals organization for allowing me to start off my career here. Wish you guys nothing but the best of luck this season! With that being said, I was just notified that I have been traded to the New England Patriots. Beyond excited to continue my career and to get back to work!!”

The Cardinals will receive a sixth-round choice in return, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Cunningham is a second-year player out of the University of Cincinnati. The Cardinals listed him as the second-string right tackle behind Marcus Gilbert.

Arizona made him a seventh-round choice in 2018. He played six games last season, with all six being starts at left tackle.

  1. Patriots will be happy with this guy, super athletic and I really liked him but they drafted another very massive mauler at LT in Joshua Miles as a backup who looks very very good and definitely has a future. Good luck, ya’all will like the guy.

  2. Good depth move. Korey was a 7th rd project forced to play due to injuries last year. Wasn’t great, but flashed enough to show a lot of promise. Can also back up both sides. Sorry to see him go, I assume (hope) Cards are making a trade or waiver move to replace him.

  3. Good for him! Talk about being released from Hell to rise to the promise land, lol! The Cardinals 0-line is the longest running joke in the NFL & at least he will be in a setting that is rich in football knowledge where he will be exposed to quality coaching and football elite. Good Luck young man, you just won the lottery…and the weather beats triple digits too!

  4. There must be something about the guy, for the Ats to go after him instead of waiting for him to hit waivers & hope he makes it thru to them they decided not to risk it…,,
Hope it works out, depth at O-Line is a tad scary!!!

Or AZ already knew he was going to be cut and got something while the getting was good.

  6. Not sure I would trade for anyone from the Cardinals offensive line. Hawkkiller thinks every player on his team is elite but that line is one of the league’s worst units.
