Josh Jones slated to visit Vikings, Lions

The Packers cut safety Josh Jones when they dropped to 53 players last weekend and the 2017 second-round pick’s search for a new job is going to take him to a couple of Green Bay’s rivals from the NFC North.

Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports that Jones will visit with the Vikings on Friday and that he is slated to meet with the Lions next week. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported earlier this week that he visited with the Bills.

Jones started 12 of the 29 games he played for the Packers over the last two seasons. He had 126 tackles, three sacks and an interception in those outings.

Jones wasn’t happy with his role in Green Bay before being released and it seems we’ll find out if another team in the division has something more to his liking.

  1. Something more to his liking is someone who will pay him.

I thought the guy has potential. Good luck to him.

  2. Division rivals? You have to do that, Jonesy? Sure, stick the knife in. Then turn it. OUCH!

I don’t know why Aaron can’t just get along with his players. I mean, they’re on HIS TEAM. What more does he want? Fake stock? Maybe he’d rather go on IR for the year. In California.
    That could happen. Starting tonight.

  3. When a guy has has done nothing asks for a trade the only thing you can do is cut him, because nobody will give up anything for him.

Jones looks like Tarzan and plays like Jane.

    Please sign in the division!

  4. great what kicker or offensive lineman will the vikings cut to sign him? not like they need help with those positions, but yeah, bring in ANOTHER player for the secondary.

    great…great idea.

  5. another player being forced to play out of position just like damarious randall.
and just like damarious randall jones will probably have success now that he is away from that square peg/round hole organization.

  6. I’m not sure why the Vikings would even want him.
He can’t kick or play Quarterback, he doesn’t present much in the way of WR depth.
    But Hey, knock yourselves out.

So that’s a yes, the Vikings should sign him?

  9. He’s a lock for the Vikings. They can pick him up cheap since nobody else wants him. And the Vikings have shown a penchant for picking up GB castoffs. I sincerely hope the Vikings pick him up and immediately insert him into their starting lineup.

Packers should have held onto him and traded him to the Vikes for a second rounder.

    That is ridiculous.

The Vikings would probably give us a 1st next year and then a few mid round picks the following year. Then dump him at the first sign of trouble.

  11. So wait. You’re telling me this guy was a second-round pick just two years ago and he was already cut? And Packer fans are talking about Vikings’ failed draft picks?

And I would pass on him. Despite everything we’ve heard about him from Packer fans for the last two years, he actually isn’t good.

  12. I could definitely see Minnesota signing him. He’s got the athleticism and love it or hate it, you have to admit Zimmer seems somewhat obsessed with corners.

Need O-line help? Add more corners.

Need depth at receiver? Add more corners.

    Again, I’m not saying it’s good or it’s bad… I’m just saying it’s there.

If the Vikings feel Jones’ upside is greater then Epps. I don’t think so but that is not my decision. One thing is for sure the Vikings won’t have to release anybody because the player is demanding to be released because of how they are being treated.

You have a very short and selective memory. Moss wanted out and Childress accommodated him. Wallace wanted out in a bad way, and signed with the Ravens at the first opportunity.

It happens. Don’t make it something it’s not, even though you think it might be a good fight to pick.

Nobody in the world has ever said Zimmer has an offensive mind (aside from you right now). He’s known for developing DBs.
