Antonio Brown agrees to terms with Patriots

It didn’t take long for Antonio Brown to find a new home.

Brown was released by the Raiders on Saturday morning and agent Drew Rosenhaus said he’d go to work on finding his client a new place to play. Rosenhaus told PFT on Saturday afternoon that Brown has agreed to terms with the Patriots.

It’s a one-year deal worth up to $15 million with a $9 million signing bonus.

Brown cannot play against his former team on Sunday night as the Patriots’ roster is locked for the matchup with the Steelers. The signing becomes official on Monday and Brown’s already given a sneak peek at how he’ll look in his new uniform.

Many wondered if the move would be coming as the Patriots have taken chances on players who have fallen out of favor with other teams in the past. Some of those moves — Corey Dillon, Randy Moss — have worked out while others — Chad Johnson, Albert Haynesworth — have not been as successful.

Watching to see how this one works out after Brown forced his way out of Oakland without playing a snap for the team will be one of the biggest storylines of the 2019 season. If it does work out and Brown plays to his old form, the Patriots offense is going to be a tough one to stop this year.

  1. I’ve said a lot of things about AB lately but not once have I said he’s not a great player on the field. If he’s able to keep it together for a whole season the rest of the league is just fighting for second best.

  2. I hope with all my heart that AB turns on Tom Brady.

    What a walking, living, breathing, toxic waste dump of a player. “Hide your kids, hide your wife…”

  3. Good Lord, will he play against the Steelers tomorrow night?!?! Kind of reminds one of how Blount got himself kicked off the Steelers only to sign with the Pats.

  4. Wow, I thought the way things were shaping up roster wise and in Brady’s twilight, they’d shift to more of a running team…. Now with Edelman, Gordon, AB, and DT… Wow… Brady has some talent around him.

  5. I have lost all respect for the patriots. This guy is absolute garbage. This was browns plan all along and he got exactly what he wanted.

  6. This was as obvious as it gets. This is the Patriot way. Talent over everything. The same people who swore up and down BB and the Pats would NEVER tolerate such a player in their locker room will quickly charge the narrative to “what a sly, low-risk pickup for the Pats.”

  7. Of course the patriots would sign this diva. This is looking like a randy moss all over again. Hope this backfires on both parties.

  8. Well, it fits. Going to a low character ownership. Happy ending? So this basically follows- with a slight side track- Blounts antics getting out of Pittsburgh and going to NE.

  9. I’m just stunned the Patriots would do this. This isn’t Randy Moss, this is TO at his Eagles worst. Maybe worse than that. No way. The team always surprises me, but I just told my son this morning there is no way they would do this, and now they have. Not excited about it at all.

  10. Welcome to New England, AB…..where you will most certainly add to the dysfunctional diversity!
    1. An owner / “love broker”…..at least it wasn’t a theft of service, apparently.
    2. A QB who destroys evidence (phone) to inhibit an investigation.
    3. A Safety who was just Federally indicted for drug possession
    4. A rehabilitated (ahem) WR addict who is now getting his 254th chance in the NFL
    5. ….and now another WR who is just plain “crazy?”

    It just sounds right, doesn’t it? Go Pats?

  11. I’m pretty certain, even though he had yo know it going in, that the Pats made it perfectly clear they aren’t putting up with any crap. All AB has to do is keep his mouth shut, do his job, and, odds are, collect a SB ring.

  12. I realize a lot of people called this, but I’M STUNNED. Not even sure I’m happy about it, but stunned. Maybe a dine deal when he asked for his release? Could very well be.

  13. Was this a work from the beginning? Did someone this childish, this immature have the whole thing planned? Or did Rosenhaus? Can’t think NE would be that stupid to give him any guaranteed money. Maybe like what Gordon did last year. SMH.

    Stop lying. Your name alone says you didn’t like the Patriots anyway.

  15. All the Patriot fans gave me thumbs down when I said this was going to happen, that there is no out of bounds when it comes to Belichick…anything goes to win a football game. So now lets see how they spin things.

  16. Randy Moss redux. I thought this would be the ultimate outcome from the moment that Gruden traded for Brown last spring. Although I have to admit that I thought that like the cancerous Moss Brown would last at least a season with the Raiders before they would have to get rid of him and the Pats took him in.

  17. A proven cancer to the locker room – we’ll see how long this can last.

    99% chance he gets traded mid season.

  18. If there truly is a 9 million dollar signing bonus, I can definitely see a tampering investigation. Why would anyone give him 9 million to sign his name after watching this BS?

  19. AB is a spy for Steeler Nation. First he helped pilfer the Raiders now he will bring down the Patriots from within….mooohahahaha

  20. So this was AB doing an act just to be a FA? Like many suggested yesterday, the Raiders should have suspended him and prevented him from playing this year.

  21. Total classless that a player would do as Brown and throw in threaten a GM and a team would pick him up. But then you look who signed him enough said

  22. Just for future reference if you are a diva WR, just whine your way out of your team and whatever team you get traded to and you will too get to play for the Patriots.

  23. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!!! I did not believe this would happen. But, he get crazy here! He is done in the NFL.

  24. And just like that…all those Patriots fans that were making fun of the Raiders for putting up with this guy suddenly think this guy is the greatest thing ever. Anyone who thinks he can behave is just fooling themselves. I bet he doesn’t last four games before they get rid of him.

  25. Hope there is still some room on the Patriots “hater” wagon. I’m coming aboard. Now the only question is who implodes first, Josh Gordon or Brown.

  26. No one knows what the terms of his employment with the Patriots. But they are doing nothing for the guy if they ignore, what is clearly some erratic behavior from this guy, irregardless of football.

  27. Woooww, hopefully this is the straw (AB) that broke the camel’s (Patriots) back.
    Seriously, they’re due for this kind of move to bite them in the butt.

  28. What a terrible statement to make giving $9M to the biggest tool the leagye has ever seen. But then it’s the Patriots so is anyone really surprised? Just sayin if karma is real, look out.

    ————————————–

    Well watch us slime our way through the Super Bowl while your team is playing golf and showing up at the Pro Bowl

  30. It is a business, not the moral compass Olympics. Zero reason for the Pats to be faulted for being opportunistic. He pulls any garbage antics and he is gone, that simple.

  31. What the Patriots don’t yet see is that Antonio Brown is bringing hell with him to NE. If this really is true, you have just signed a completely mentally unstable man to your squad. It will not end well for you.

  32. Absolute trash move by the Patriots. They were already good enough to be competing to repeat without him, now you send the message to any other similarly-minded players that being a big baby gets you whatever you want.

  36. If anyone can salvage him its belichick its a win for both sides if he can stay grounded in ne he will cash in again next year. Rev for sev !🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

  37. It’s only a matter of time before he throws TB12 under the bus. Everyone knows how that’s going to turn out.

  38. I’ve said this before. Brown wasn’t going to play with a mediocre qb like carr and watch his numbers drop and listen to everyone say AB was only good because of big ben. Because we all know that would have happened if he played.

    And IF it doesn’t BB will just cut him.

    It’s a SMART move

  40. Win at all costs pats. Just keep bringing and buying horrible human beings. Classless. Especially since all pats fans called this guy a turd. Now he’s the best thing ever. I’d rather my team lose with dignity, than win like that.

  41. Only in the sick world of the NFL could a player yell racist remarks at the GM and threaten to punch them and another team signs them. Whats worse is the CBA and rules explicitly talk about disciplinary actions about this stuff and nothing has happened!? What a joke.

  42. Get the popcorn ready. Watching him and BB spar on the sidelines (if he ever makes it to the sidelines) will be hilarious.

    I can’t believe the Pats are willing to sign this cancer. He will be the unraveling of this team.

  43. Robert Kraft got so excited about the acquisition he tipped his two massage therapists a C-note each, and gave both an autographed, tampered-with football!

    Betcha the equipment manager is stocking the shelves with banned helmets as we speak.

  44. Patriots fans who are celebrating this — you know that the thread where you said this would NEVER happen is still up on this site right? Classless player and classless team — a match made in heaven.

  45. As a Bills fan, unlike other Bills fans, I really haven’t minded the Pats, who’ve simply done things well and won doing so.

    But this makes me want this to be the season that Father Time catches up with Brady and watch them plummet.

    By that time we’ll be 9-0 and well on our way to the #1 seed. Worth the money to me.

  47. Belichick has lost his mind! The Patriots don’t need him or his kind to win SB. That’s a lot money for cancer.

  48. How can this have been planned or been Brown’s plan all along?

    He just gave up 30 million guaranteed for 9 million. People claiming this was “the plan” are nuts. Nobody gives up 21 million like that.

    As a Pats fan this makes me sick. I don’t care how good a player he is I don’t want this guy on the field in a Pats uni. They were fine at wideout already.

    Bill must have a lot of restrictive language and triggers built into the contract to keep this guy in line, that’s all I can say. Hope he doesn’t destroy the carefully built Pats locker room.

  49. Leave it to Brown to “Kiffen” his way to a better gig. Mayock and Gruden couldn’t even get back the pick they gave up to get that nutjob. It’s not easy being a Raider fan.

  50. Did AB just Favre the Steelers? They’d never trade him to NE, just like the Pack wouldn’t let Favre go to MN…but Favre ended up where he wanted to be. Maybe AB did too. That’s probably giving him too much credit and his agent would have no reason to do mastermind it, but it’s easier to swallow than thinking NE is that pathetic.

  51. League should subpoena phone records between AB, his agent and Patriots. Things happened a little fast here. Also, why did the Raiders let him out of the contract in such a way that AB could sign anywhere he wanted this quickly?

  52. The Clown is being signed by the unscrupulous Patsies** – –
    makes perfect sense they would be the one team to wrap their arms

    Like Tyreke Hill and Kareem Hunt?

  54. I am amazed how so few people are missing the obvious tampering. It’s absurd. That’s the only reason Brown acted this dumb. No one is that dumb, he was trying to get released!!! He had a wink and nod deal.

  55. This was planned all along..
    No way he gets that much money …
    In 5 years I hope to watch an nfl film that it’s named “the end of a dynasty the rise and fall of the new England Patriots “

  56. Reeks of tampering, the whole thing probably orchestrated by the Cheats, but will Roger investigate?

  57. All the Drama was orchestrated to get out of Raiders contract. Looks like Tampering & collusion to me, not to mention unethical. League should investigate this immediately. If they do, stand by for all the New England fans crying foul

  58. AB wanted a no pressure situation. The Raiders situation as the face of their franchise was too much for him. The interesting thing to look for here is going to be how AB handles questions. There is a Patriot way to handle questions as everyone knows.

  59. Guy is a looney toon of the highest order but I’ll roll the dice on this guy given his talent.

    Just lmao @ all the Pats Haters claiming this was somehow shady. 0% chance this is said if he signed with any other of the 29 possible remaining teams that would have been on him. If the Patriots DIDNT another team would have.

  75. Remember this Pats Fans – with Moss NE got to 18-0 and then it was a GIANT Loss.

    AB, like Moss, is not SB worthy!

    Be careful what you wish for…………

  76. Im already skipping Fantasy this year, and now I won’t be watching at all. This is not why I became a fan of sports to begin with. Gonna do more productive things with those dozens of hours, like hit the gym, ride bikes, read some books Ive been meaning to read, go to a nice restaurant, etc.

  77. The pats are such a shady team from the top too the bottom. Cheaters and always will be. The nfl should have suspended this guy and this is why these players will never change and just get worse. This guy gets rewarded for all his crazy behavior it’s a joke too the sport and really rediculous.

  78. Pats fan here 50+ years…disgusted by this. The good news is that he should flameout here before the first frost. Hell, he might get his arse thrown out of the locker room if he’s strutting his stuff when he walks into it for the first time…

  79. I hope the drama continues until he implodes on his new team and they have to cut him. Not because the Pats have had the greatest 19+ year run of excellence. Not because I’m tired of seeing Brady win Super Bowls. Not because I dislike Antonio Brown.

    I want to see him hit rock bottom to a point where he gets cut because I think he NEEDS it to happen. From all that we’ve seen publicly over the years it looks as though Antonio Brown has been given a free pass time and again.

    I’d bet that most of his life none of the rules of respect, team, sportsmanship, responsibility, maturity. etc., etc., have been applied to him. No one has held him accountable until Mayock did. (Gruden obviously didn’t.) AB has apparently never learned that correlation between actions and consequences. He’s never learned that the rules of life, maturity, and responsibility are there for everyone, especially in a team environment and football is the ultimate team sport. My hope is that he hits rock bottom, gets cut, and a light goes off in his head. He suddenly realizes the one single common denominator during all his low points in life, is him. Then maybe some self-inspection will take place and he will start to learn what people should have taught him as he was growing up.

  84. Can’t stand the guy. I honestly can’t see how it’s going to work, all of sudden he’s going to be a Boy Scout and play nice?

    And if he does do that, I have to say I am suspicious about his behavior for the last 2 months. You can’t just turn crazy on and off like a faucet

  85. Maybe Goodell will actually do his job and put AB on the Reserve/Commissioner Exempt List over the violence threat to the Raiders GM. That way AB can’t play but the Patriots still have to pay him normal salary.

  86. No surprise that the franchise with the billionaire owner who sex traffics with $80 hookers, with the star QB who destroys evidence and with an arrogant fanbase blinded with the most asterisk championships, would somehow find a way to embrace Aaron Hernandez 2.0

    Go (away) Pats!

    More like no one forced the Raiders to cut him, but they did because they’re idiots. And now Brown got to choose where he could go, and why not choose a team the has been in the SB almost 50% of the time since 2001.

    Get your tissues out because BROWN/EDELMAN/GORDON/ THOMAS are dropping 45 on your team.

  90. Regardless of who your team is, any time a team goes to THIS extent to compromise values like integrity and character to sign ONE player with such egregious behavior, it’s an insult to those who make countless sacrifices to do the right thing 24/7.

    AB’s behavior should be punished – not rewarded.

  91. Everyone knows that bird chest can’t keep himself under control for too long. You know it will happen. Just wait until Brady gets unhappy and chirps at bird chest like he does with other players. Wait until bird chest is late for a meeting. Patriots just signed the league’s worst team player, it’s biggest distraction and clown show. You all saw how bird chest acted since late last season, and even before that. He cannot control himself for too long. And the Pat’s gave him $9M up front lol.

  92. This is BS. I’m so done with this league. I’ve been watching less and less over the years. But watching prima donnas force their way out of teams and contracts to be rewarded by hooking up with contenders is just the last straw. I ended my Sunday Ticket. If I hadn’t already paid for Gameday, I’d skip that. This isn’t football anymore. It’s a freakin’ soap opera. Disgusting.

  93. To AB – PLEASE, PLEASE, you be you in New England! Don’t change who you are for anyone, ever, especially some old coach! If he doesn’t want to let you be who you are, you just let him know what you’re all about, the way you let people know what you’re all about. JUST BE YOU BABY!

  96. “And just like that…all those Patriots fans that were making fun of the Raiders for putting up with this guy suddenly think this guy is the greatest thing ever. ”

    Actually I see a lot of Pats fans enjoying the angst of the Pats haters, but not many who suddenly think AB is “the greatest thing ever”.

    ————————————–

    The Raiders nullified the guaranteed money, so Brown puts on an act to get out of town orchestrated by the Patriots, signs a new 1 year deal with 9 million guaranteed. Can become a FA after the season for big bucks if he gets his act together, with the Patriots holding the option to transition tag him and match other offers. Get the picture?

  99. Well, if any human being alive (or dead, for that matter) can do anything at all with this clown, it would have to be Bill Belichick. I wouldn’t bet on it, though.

    I also wouldn’t bet against it though, either. This is like the old quandary “What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?”

  100. The NFL. I’m not even sure what to think at this point. The only place scumbags and criminals can make millions. Talk about bank robbers being bad people.

  101. “This was planned…I mean come on, at what point does someone call out the obviousness of all of this? ”

    What obvious is the people who think this was planned aren’t very good at math. He just went from 30 million guaranteed to 9 million. That’s 21 million out the door that he already had in hand.

    Who gives up 21 million like that?

    Nobody that’s who

  102. I love the comments about that we Pats fans have no soul are probably the same people who give thumbs down on peoples comments when some one passes away. Actually it’s more split. As a pats fan myself, I’m not a fan of the signing, but I trust Bill to do what he thinks is right. I presume there are safeguards built in for his behavior.

    Everyone complaining about tampering, I agree with you. If the NFL investigates, this Pats fan won’t be surprised or angry. That was so fast. That said, the NFL will take any opportunity to drop the hammer on the Pats so there we go.

  105. Oakland traded a # 3 and # 6 ….. if they had suspended him he’d of been forced to stay w/ Raiders all season .. he was pleading for his release which I couldn’t understand with a $29.125m guarantee payout just hours away.. NE had to of been awaiting in the background while Drew Rosenhaus and AB orchestrated this. I’m convinced of this. Nobody who’s within hours of a $29.125m guaranteed payout is gonna go to this extreme to get out of a deal, with 4 pm EDT so close. He apologizes yesterday, all is well, then records Jon Gruden and puts it on social-media and then today pleads to be released after a measles $215,000 fine … I smell a NE tampering job w/ Drew Rosenhaus involved.

  106. This Pats fans is not happy at all. I was happy with our current crop of receivers, I see future in the younger guys so I dont want to drop any of them. And no kidding he is going to spit on us eventually, the only hope is in how long. But it will happen thats not in doubt. And a lot of yall will have a laugh and we will just have to take it.

    In tomorrows news…NFL slaps some suspensions on AB for infractions committed these past couple weeks. Frankly it would not surprise me. And I might even have to just nod and agree.

  107. This is one of the situations that slowly drives away fans in the long run. Very WWE like drama that feels scripted. They are setting a bad precedent by letting a player manufacture his release and signing to another team. Probably all backdoor dealings between AB and the Pats, but the NFL will not investigate. The Steelers have their legacy and the Raiders are getting a billion dollar stadium so eff them. Roger wants his drama, so he gets it. This has cast a huge sense of distaste over the 100th season before it even starts. Most fans are disgusted by this.

  108. Why does Tom Brady get compared to Father Time. Because of moves like this that fall in his lap… That can be taken as a negative or a positive and I’ll leave it at that.

  109. When New England had Randy Moss, they compiled a 16-0 record in the regular season, and went to the Super Bowl, but the Giants spoiled it by beating them with a good defense. There is some truth to the claim that defense wins championships. If people look back on the Super Bowls New England has won, including last year’s, they should see that the Pats have only won Super Bowls when they had a strong defense. They won against Seattle with an end zone interception. They won against the Falcons with a Dante Hightower strip sack, and they shut down the Rams last season.

  110. Patriots should be embarrassed doing this. Low class org. who’s win above all else shows exactly how they operate. Break all rules, circumvent known class ways to act, and don’t worry about morals as long as you get to put another ring on.

    Sad part is – whenever the all time great teams are brought up, the albatross around the Patriots neck that will always knock them out of the discussion is how they operated since Kart/Belicheck took over.

    Would really love to see how that org. and all the people in it tell their kids at night that someone like AB is how you conduct business. Dirty franchise and low class people in it.

  111. You knew New England had to take a chance. They needed another big weapon on offense but this whole thing just doesn’t seem right.
    If a guy signs to play for you then doesn’t show up for practice and tries to sabotage the contract he signed he needs to suspended for a year.
    What’s to keep other players from pulling the same thing if they decide they don’t like the team they signed with ?
    Needs to be a law for that crap and the Radiers got egg all over their face.

  112. While the Pats are stacked with talent at WR, I cant give them the Superbowl win yet, they have the same record as the Phins right now, and even when they had Moss and Brady screamijgnupnand down the field putting up points all over they didnt win a title.

  113. The Patriots just signed “AB” to a contract; only hours after he was released by the Raiders? That doesn’t pass the smell test. The Patriots know no shame.

  114. The great Steeler recievee helps the Patriots win the tie breaking Superbowl with Pittsburgh, and instantly becomes the most hated person in Pittsburgh sports!
    Can’t write this stuff!

  115. The NFL has become so rigged I can’t even stomach to watch this charade of a sport anymore. I am disgusted beyond belief at how something like this can even happen.

  116. This is actually a good thing. Once he gets cut by the Pats, he’ll be done. No one else will pick him up.

  117. “The NFL. I’m not even sure what to think at this point. The only place scumbags and criminals can make millions. Talk about bank robbers being bad people.”

    Guess you haven’t been paying attention to the white house and GOP the last few years. Thought its true this is only millions and the GOP is stealing trillions.

  118. Just talked to Tom Very happy . AB is Coming tonite be there tomorrow nite Never bought a house out there rented a place knew it was a bad fit after he got there He will make it up in endorsments here . Likes winning They hate us because they aint us

  119. This moron will screw this up for sure. He’s just not mentally fit to exist in a public setting. His brain is mush. Wait til he starts being late for meetings, missing practice and tweeting things about BB or Tom. Plus the NFL has something for him for his conduct in Oakland. Threatening a GM, my guess is 4-6 weeks.

  120. Not a Patriots fan, but if there is one coach who will get Antonio Brown’s attention is Belichick and the contract is more than likely loaded with clauses that if he acts detrimentally, he’s gone.
    In short, Belichick is the NFL’s equivalent of General Mattis.

    Didn’t think the Pats were this stupid. Good luck getting Brown to conform to the “Patriot way”.
    ___________________________

    One thing about BB and the Pats is there are ONLY 2 options:

    1) conform

    2) DOOR!

  122. I don’t ever want to hear about the “Patriot Way” and all the pious superior talk about guys the Patriots would never take, like Edelman and Hogan bragged. I’ve said it many times, the Patriots are the biggest fakes in football.

  123. I think the Pats will regret this one. Pats fans, with all due respect to you, and to that historic franchise, you just brought in a racist that obviously doesn’t like white people. Your HOF G.O.A.T QB is white, and so is your no nonsense HC, and OC. Once he doesn’t get his way, it’s going to be chaos.

  124. I see this move a Josh Gordon insurance. Probably doesn’t think he’ll stay clean for full season. Shrewd move.

  125. If any other team signed AB the comments here would be minimal…But it’s NE so everybody loses their minds…
    NE has lived in a lot of people’s heads for 20 years now, lololol!

  126. AB wanted to play for the Pats all along. But he Steelers did not want to trade him to NE. Instead they traded him to a team where he could do no harm….the hapless Raiders. And AB played Gruden and Mayock for fools. He deserves and Oscar for his performance. Instead of putting him on IR they release him and boom…he gets what he wanted all along. And Oakland has to give the Steelers two draft pick to boot!!

  127. 1. An owner/love broker…..at least it wasn’t a theft of service (presumably).

    4. A rehabilitated (ahem) WR addict who is being given his 100th reinstatement in the NFL.
    5. ….and now a WR who is simply “crazy?”

    You don’t have to like it (Pats fans), but you own it! A “Thumbs down” doesn’t change the truth.

  128. Sad day for the Patriot way legacy….. you get what you deserve. Remember when you guys won that super bowl with miss? Me neither

  129. I would have thought that this organization had long since passed the saturation point on stench molecules.

  130. #1 Brown still has to wear a helmet he doesn’t like, and
    #2 He will have to compete with Brady for the team Diva. Brady won’t allow that, or his wife will cry.

    __________________________________________________

    Actually it’s more split. As a pats fan myself, I’m not a fan of the signing, but I trust Bill to do what he thinks is right. I presume there are safeguards built in for his behavior.

    Everyone complaining about tampering, I agree with you. If the NFL investigates, this Pats fan won’t be surprised or angry. That was so fast. That said, the NFL will take any opportunity to drop the hammer on the Pats so there we go

    —————————
    Yeah, the timing is a bad look. I would rather there was an investigation just so the matter can be cleared. I actually think his known propensity for putting stuff on the internet (oh and he secretly records too) would scare away any team from colluding with him. But still I would like to see it cleared. Also, even if the Pats are cleared someone should be looking at what Rosenhaus and AB may have been deliberate about. This stinks in a way that its better for the health of the sport (I refuse to say “Integrity of the league”) if it be looked at closely from all angles. I would rather lose a receiver than have this become a thing in the NFL.

    Doesn’t chang that they are better than the team you root for?

    #crybaby

  133. I’m really confused where the tampering accusations come in. This situation has been smoldering for weeks. As soon as it started, you have to think the cap guys started doing the potential math ahead of time, ready to act fast, as I’m sure any other interested team should have and likely did. Then from there it’s not a tough sell to AB and Rosenhaus. “Hey AB, want to come play for a top Super Bowl contender and the most attention-attracting team in football?” [Ace Ventura voice] “Let me think about that for a second, ummmmm, SURE.”

  134. Won’t say a peep once he’s in there. Will Brady be able to throw it far enough howrver? Deep threat but no deep arm! Edelman’s numbers just went even higher however.

  135. Even though AB cannot play against the Steeler’s, I would love to see them Whop them tomorrow. Even though Tomlin has never had a losing season he has squandered the last 10 years as head coach of the Steeler’s with all of the talent he has had. They say he has the 2nd best record in the AFC after BB.But since the last time Steeler’s won the Super Bowl they have only played the Patriots once in the playoffs and lost it. I will be rooting for every team the Steeler’s play until he is gone.

  136. Don’t blame BB, Mayock is the slime ball by not telling Brown he was getting fined and his guarantees were voided. Mayock had to delay things and Gruden played along like Sgt Schultz. The Raiders did some shady things. Planting a story about being called a cracker was a nice touch. Of course, the media and haters were revved up beyond control.

  137. Im just here to read the comments from the pats fans. Many was laughing at the raiders and even this morning saying “the pats would never sign slime like that”. Well heres to yall lol

  138. Steelers fans are the worst. Complaining about classlessness….Nothing says class more than cornering a teenage girl in a bar and having your body guards run interference.

  139. There is more bile coming from the comments here towards AB than towards Tyreek, Incognito, Duane Brown, or any of the *actual* disgusting players in the league. AB may be a head case but has been proven to be an elite player in the right circumstances and with the right motivation — and hasn’t abused, stalked, or harassed anyone. Get a grip, people.

  140. On an earlier post, I said that if the Pats signed AB, then I didn’t know if we could “ trust in Bill” anymore.But maybe AB isn’t crazy like a Fox and figured out to use the “ Klingermethod” ( I’m MASH Corporal Klinger tried to get out of the military by feigning mental illness). I have to believe Bill has confidence that AB will behave, lessen incendiary use of social media, and give the Pats the best receiving core in the NFL. I do feel a little bit bad, but still have to laugh at Pittsburgh, who did not want to see him in New England. Haters! Commence with your vitriol! We LOVE IT WHEN YOU HATE US!!!!!

  141. Doesn’t pass the smell test. There’s no way this wasn’t all planned out between AB and the Pats in advance. The NFL needs to step in and protect the Raiders here and suspend AB for at least a year. They can’t set the precedent that a player can selfishly sabotage a team like this to get out of a contract or for playing on a team he doesn’t want to play for. Regardless, the Patriots are dirtbags for this. I don’t buy that they didn’t set this whole thing up for a second.

  142. If I were Mayock, I’d go to the league and file a grievance or whatever you’d call it, over the confrontation. Get this clown suspended for conduct violations. I wouldn’t care if/who he signed with after the fact. Where the hell is the Raiders owner? He should go to Godell and demand a suspension.
    There has to be accountability for that action. Mayock is a GM, not some shlub locker room guy.
    If this all gets swept under the rug, it will speak volumes about the “integrity” of the NFL. Lack of action by the league and the commissioner, and the long rumored lack of integrity of the “shield” will be validated. What a way to start the celebration of year 100! Disgusting.

  143. There is ZERO chance BB did not find out in advance from Roger if they were going to suspend him. If the league was going to BB would not of pulled this move. This is why the Pats are winning each year. The man is a genius.
    Best HC to EVER stand on the sidelines and it is not even close. This coming from a Miami fan that hates losing to them. But the facts are the facts.
    I saw in interview where Gronk said that BB does not treat TB any better than a 2nd year special teams player. That is what makes that team great.

    BB could release AB before Tuesday.

    Or AB could help the Pats win their seventh Super Bowl in February.

    Either way, there is nothing you can do about it, so relax.

  147. I think this makes the Pats worse not better. At this stage in his career, Brady needs this bs dude like a hole in his head. BB and TB no dopes we shall see but…

  150. I’ve been a day-oner on saying Kap has no case for being out of the league. Reap what you sow, dude was out of his mind to begin with. But, with the recent signing of this total whack job, I am having second guesses. The dude recorded his coach and put into some hype video just to hype HIMSELF. I hate the patriots, always have. Lucked into TB12, and have gotten a few calls along the way. But, this is honestly pretty low. I hope this blows up in their face because this is simply BB saying “I can do better than you” to every coach in the league, and it is pretty slimy to say the least. It won’t, though. They’ll go 12-4, end up in the Super Bowl, but probably lose. Whoever said it above is kind of into something. This reeks of WWE style drama.

    ———————————————————————————–

    Patriots will eliminate the my Chargers in the playoffs. Belichick eliminated the Raiders in Week one. Sorry.

  154. A….I wonder if it’s legal for someone to record another person without their permission ?
    B…. Was actually hoping ALL the NFL teams would avoid him at all cost.

  155. I’m not one of those fans that blast the Pats constantly but this does look suspicious. Brown was acting super crazy–even for Brown. He had several incidents of non-compliance and the main one was a racially charged threat to the GM. That still somehow did not equal a suspension and when he got the obvious letter to void his guarantees he snapped again, demanded his release, got released and then had a deal in place with the Patriots within a couple hours. C’mon. That isn’t enough time to check on his feet or even talk to the Raiders and fully evaluate the situation. It seems logical to think Brown was trying to get released because he found a more suitable option. Remember when the league said no comment about a suspension after the Mayock confrontation? Maybe they will soon have a comment if they choose to suspend him for the remark. All that said, I am surprised BB went for this because AB off the field is EVERYTHING BB avoids. On the field there is no question about his talent but how could this work? One of two scenarios MUST happen. Either BB abandons his principles that have made him the most successful HC and tolerates the individualistic drama or AB suddenly stops being a drama queen and does everything he is supposed to. I can’t really see either thing happening.

  156. All planned…now AB will behave like he did in his early Steeler years and put up big numbers with Brady. He will end up making more money than in his Oakland contract over the same years. So easy to see this.

  157. Pats fan here. Have to admit I hate this signing. I would prefer to go with the hungry youth we have right now. But, all you haters spewing all this nonsense is making me want it to work out big time. Jealousy is a bad emotion.

  158. Pats had 9.1 mil in cap space. A signing bonus is guaranteed. How does he reach 15 mil? Appears the Pats will have to restructure/cut someone to make this work

Heard the same in the past i.e dillion, moss ,Harrison, hotrod,johnson they have had mixed results but its about football in Foxboro all busines some last some dont.

  160. Some of tylawspick6 comments when AB was in Oakland are a lot of fun. Included amongst them were these nuggets,

    “LOL!!!

    Good thing they did Hard Knocks and are focused on the TEAM. Really good teambuilding approaches by so many NFL teams.

    Gee, I wonder why the Pats are in the SB every year.”

    And,

    “If this was BB, he’d cut him outright on principle alone. A minor suspension like this is still a bad look….
    Enabling the behavior is bad leadership.”

    You’re welcome sports fans.

    Good times.

  161. “Seriously you are not ready to give the Pats the Superbowl yet? Gee what is it gonna take?”

    As a Pats fan I say its going to take, you know, actually playing the 16 regular season games, winning through the playoffs and then winning the Super Bowl.

    The other teams in the Super Bowl do usually come to play you know. Every Pats win in a SB has been close as have the losses. There are no guarantees.

  163. It was bad enough when Kraft gave Josh Gordon a Super Bowl Ring even though the latter gave him the finger last year by screwing up yet AGAIN. Now they reward total irresponsibility in the vain hope of keeping the flickering flame of the aging Patriots alive for one more year. I’m very disappointed in Bill Belichick for agreeing to this and will root against the Pats even when they play my nemesis, the Steelers. This is truly despicable.

  164. This was the only team I could see him going to and not being able to be the team cancer he is. No way Bill and Tom will let him do the crap he was doing in Pitts and Oakland and I think his career may be done if he wears out his welcome there as the league knows if you can’t stay in line on the Pats of all teams then you’re sure not going to anywhere else.

    As for those crowning the Pats as SB champs because of this, 2007 would like a word with you.

  165. “Will AB be willing to run extremely short routes for 2 yard Tammy?”

    Yeah guess you missed the 20, 30 and 40 yard seam routes he was throwing to Gordon and Gronk last season.

    But yeah, I’m sure you think all QBs should constantly thrown low percentage high risk bombs instead of taking what the defense gives you most of the time. Always a great strategy. Hope your team follows it all the time.

  166. Typical.

    Pats fans: Chess not checkers

    Everyone else: So what? OMG noodle arm QB who really has never been a downfield QB in the first place united with a downfield receiver. Easiest schedule in the NFL. Yawns.

  171. I’m kind of surprised, I know they’re willing to take chances on players but not ones that can rip apart an entire organization. It’s a real bummer he can’t play tomorrow, that would’ve been one hell of a way to put an end to the first day of games this season. Will be very interesting to see which way this goes, it’s not often you can sign a player that can either significantly improve odds of a chip & could also decrease the odds of even being a playoff team. Even if it goes bad, I can’t see them missing the playoffs but between he & Gordon, holy lord-the talent but also, the uncertainty.

    Yeah, cause belichick has always been terrified to cut players with big names when they become a problem or obsolete. Drew Bledsoe told me that in person once. Bernie kosar called to confirm he wouldnt do it in Cleveland either.

    So the steelers traded him to the patriots for the raiders 3rd and 5th round picks is how this worked out. That’s kind of funny.

    Don’t forget, this year the Steelers are hit with his 21 million dead cap space too. That’s a lot of money that could’ve been spent for his old teammates or signing two or three very good players to give them a SB chance. Steelers fans have got to be double pissed now. This is not good for the game at all. It’s turning out to be like the NBA with the dynasty teams.

  177. I am no Patriots fan but this is another example of how much better the Patriots are than everyone else. They signed Brown and Bill Belichick will tell him he either does what is asked of him or else.
    Jon Gruden’s mistake was while his boss was explaining all the crap Brown was doing, Gruden was saying what a great guy he is and people just don’t understand him. If I were Mike Mayock, I’d bring Gruden in and tell him in no uncertain terms where the bear squats. I’d tell him don’t ever undermine me again with any other player, or else.
    Gruden has always been out of control and Davis, Jr has to back his GM against this kind of bull.
    Mike Mayock has his hands full dealing with Gruden, that’s for sure. Gruden has always had that small man complex where he feels he has to act tough, when everyone knows he got his butt beat many times as a kid.
    Here’s a prediction for all you Raiders fans — you will never win a championship with Jon Gruden as your head coach. He’s a dog that’s all bark and no bite.

  178. Wait till Tom Brady gets into his head. He will either step up or get stepped on. Brady demands players go all out. If Brown goes Diva 8itch with New England, he will be broken off ASAP. I would never have given him guaranteed $ though.

  179. Did I just read someone commenting on The Boston Tea Party? This is priceless haters..Sorry the Pats just ruined your seasons.To be honest, they play better as underdogs so not too sure about this signing. Betting odds have plummeted though.. Chiefs yesterday Pats today..

  180. And with that move, 2 possibly 3 AFC east teams season is over before it even got started. That one possible is what will happen to the Pat’s? Will AB be a good boy and be on his best behavior or will AB rip the Pats locker room apart. This should be a interesting year.

  181. Think about what moves the owners are going to take after all of this shady nonsense. AB has effectively screwed every other player in the NFL with his manipulation and ego. Think there are gonna be some serious head hunters this year? I think he in line for hits like the Burfict one in every game this year, if he’s able to stay healthy. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

    League should subpoena phone records between AB, his agent and Patriots. Things happened a little fast here. Also, why did the Raiders let him out of the contract in such a way that AB could sign anywhere he wanted this quickly?
    ———————————————
    I should subpoena your phone records. Oh wait, I just like the NFL, don’t have the power of law enforcement agencies. This happened no faster than any other player signing who was released. About 8 hours it took from when Brown was released. Fans claiming tampering are a joke. No clue what they are talking about. Those bashing the Pats for signing Brown, he has never hurt his wife, girlfriend or broken his child’s arm.

    ——————
    That sounds good, but unfortunately, Gruden is actually Mayock’s boss. Yes, Mayock is the GM, but Gruden hired him. I know it’s messed up! Gruden got a 10 year $100m contract. You’re right though, the Raiders will never win with Chucky. He’s a far better broadcaster than coach.

  184. Belichick must have had a third party in touch with Rosenhaus all this time. This is an embarrassment to the NFL. This is beyond tampering – this is blatant conspiracy. There is no concern about optics at all.If Florio wasn’t such a Patriot’s homer, he would be screaming at the top of his lungs about this sleazy situation.

  185. As a Pat’s fan, I didn’t like this until I read all the haters hating away. Rosenhaus represents Gronk, so they already had a channel open due to annual re-negotiations. I’ll be disappointed if we lose Gunner or Meyers.

  186. Keep telling me the Patriots aren’t the slimiest, most disgusting franchise I. Sports and I’ll keep telling you that you’re a liar.

  187. Patriot fan here. I was one of those that thought there was absolutely no way Belichick would want to touch this guy.

    Just shocked that it happened and so fast after he was waived. I’m very disappointed and will not cheer for him. This is going too far.

  188. There is no way a deal gets done a hour after release. This has been in the works as soon as Drew found out the Raiders were going after the 30mill probably thursday. This has tampering written all over it.

  189. This is the biggest farce in NFL History. The only thing I am sure of is this was all a planned event…unless Brown was able to whip out a Spielberg Produced Branding Video on his cell phone two hours after big fake apology. Patriots just happen to have cap space..COLLUSION.

  190. I was a Pats fan growing up in NH when they 1st became a team till I was in my 30’s & moved to Tampa. I have always had a soft spot for them watching Grogan & the Hannah Brothers etc. And I always respected Bill B & Brady even being a Bronco’s fan now for the last 30 yrs. I even gave Kraft a pass with his issues. But this? So you are willing to sign anyone no matter how insane and how much of a ME PLAYER 1st. We will see how this plays out, but I hope they blow up.

    AGAIN , you people are such FRAUDS!!!!

    If the team YOU Root for got him the fans of that team would be Happy.

    He was a free agent as soon as he was released
    That means HE can go to ANY team HE wants to.

    If he didn’t go to NE he would have signed with someone.

    But some how that makes NE “slime “

    Just another JEALOUS CRYBABY

  192. Yes, what a genius Brown is. He just turned 40 million guaranteed into 9 million guaranteed. Do you people even think before you post?

  193. Look at all the crybabies comimg out. They know what this means. That’s the problem. Slimey and classless? The raiders released him. 31 teams have the agents #. He shot his way out 2x. So what?

  194. If I never, ever, ever again… in the history of the whole wide world, the sun, the moon and all the stars… have to hear some Internet mutton-head whine about “class” and/or “classlessness” that would be just fine by me.

    ~Not a Pats fan

  195. yesterday pats making fun of the Raiders for having AB. saying he should be suspended, he has mental problems. no team should sign him.

    Today AB jerseys selling out in NE

  196. “..A….I wonder if it’s legal for someone to record another person without their permission ?…”

    To record them, yes.
    To then make it publicly available, hell no.
    That’s a federal offense.

  197. When does the tampering investigation begin? This all comes together for the Patriots a little too conveniently. AB acts like a total loon to make sure the Raiders release him and within hours he’s signed with the Patriots for 9 mil guaranteed and the possibility of making as much or more than he would have with the Raiders?
    Something smells here.

  198. Special Thanks to James Harrison This is the place to be to bad I was burnt out would have liked to stay here longer They know what they are doing here Patriots Just win baby

  199. Here’s some milk and cookies for all of the haters commenting on here, and oh yes we’ll see you next opening night as banner number 7 is unveiled…Wahahahahahahahahha

    How is it a Black man can call a White man a Cracker and try to beat his ass and there is nobody calling out A.Brown for it? If A white player went after a black coach and called the coach the N word, there would be protest, marches, suspensions(team and nfl). Just aint right in my opinion. Should be a two way street.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It is a two-way street. You are perfectly free to go protest in the streets… if you actually care enough about the issue to do so… and I’m cool with that. If you don’t care enough about the issue, I’m also cool with that… but then don’t knock the people that DO care enough to protest.
  202. If Roger ever wanted to win fans over, veto this like Adam Silver. Let him sign and suspend him for the Shield!!!
  203. Brown and Gordon on same team. Wow. I wonder if Patriots saw a fade in Josh?
    If there truly is a 9 million dollar signing bonus, I can definitely see a tampering investigation. Why would anyone give him 9 million to sign his name after watching this BS?”
    ——————————————————————————————–Excellent question. Because you are describing as “this BS” has everyone wondering whether AB had gone insane or was a victim of an early onset of CTE. And yet NE who has about 10 million left in cap space pays AB a 9 million bonus within 15 minutes of his release.
    BB is many things but no one has ever called him a fool.And it is very difficult to believe that the had no prior communication with Rosenhaus.
    A tampering investigation is really needed here.
  206. Several comments stating NE tampered in this. If AB signed with any other team, would those claims still be made?
  207. gmitch23 says:
    I am amazed how so few people are missing the obvious tampering. It’s absurd. That’s the only reason Brown acted this dumb. No one is that dumb, he was trying to get released!!! He had a wink and nod deal.
    —————————————————
    Mayock and the Raiders controlled things. Mayock fined Brown twice without giving him prior notice. Brown thought the issues were resolved then Mayock fined him not once but twice. The last fine voided the guarantees in Brown’s contract yesterday. It was a great touch that an unnamed source accused Brown of Mayock a cracker. Noticed no-one confirmed the accusation. Mayock wanted him gone. His plan worked the media into a frenzy.
  208. Antonio Brown embodies everything that is wrong with sports today . . .
    And the Patriots have just demonstrated how “classless” an organization can become . . .
    There is tampering involved, and if the NFL wanted to try and demonstrate “credibility,” they would immediately investigate this situation.
    Oh . . . And I would like to give “props” to the Oakland Raiders for demonstrating absolute stupidity in handling this disaster.
    Nice job Chucky . . . Don’t bother attending any MENSA conventions . . .
  209. I’m a lifelong Patriots fan and this signing bothers me a lot, mostly because someone of decent character is going to lose his spot on the team to this turd.
    But the Patriot’s recieving corps is very iffy right now (Edelman’s thumb, Gordon’s mental health, no great tight end, etc.) so I guess they just had to take a chance on him.
    I don’t think he’ll last long though, so there’s that consolation.
  210. Jimmypinthe416 says:
    ——————————
    Be careful what you wish for. After he gets kicked off the Pats your team could be next.
  211. “The other 31 teams should file a protest.”
    The Raiders chose to release him instead of suspending him, creating the opportunity to sign with someone else, they have nothing to protest.
    Neither do the other 30 teams who all have GMs with Drew Rosenhaus’ number. If even one of them had reached out with an offer or interest Rosenhaus would still be working one team against the other to increase the guarantee.
    Bill called, nobody else did, and its clear Rosenhaus felt making a commission off a guarantee from the Pats was better then waiting and hoping someone else called. He’s gotta be as sick of Brown as everyone else at this point.
  213. Meh – 1 year deal. He gets out of control you cut him loose and eat some money. Risk reward seems about even IMHO. Anything more than a 1 year deal and I’d be singing a different tune. Hopefully captains in locker room can help get him under control.
  214. Let’s be clear to all here that my posts here about AB have been all negative through this whole Raider fiasco and I maintain that. I don’t want to see this nut job playing for the pats as he IS a cancer and will be a distraction, this has been past proven.
    He should not be on any team in the NFL for all the antics he pulled, but rather on a shrink’s couch trying to work out his issues.
    I feel this bods better for the other teams playing the Patriots this year as I fear nothing good can come from his signing,Patriot-wise.
    Shoot, we already have Gordan to deal with trying to keep him sober on the field.
  215. Anybody else think this was the plan all along. Accepted a trade, but it was not where he really wanted to be. Created a big enough problem that the Raiders released him, made him a free agent so he could sign with the team he really wanted to go to. Goodell should void this contract as being unfair to all the other teams in the league.
  216. You people do realize that hatred is not good for your health, right?
    After the way the receivers looked this spring, I can’t believe that the PATS have Edelman, Gordon, Thomas and now Brown on the receiving core. CRAZY!
  217. He 30 teams had a shot. Pats jumped on it. They may have the best receivers in football now. This guy shu5s up and does his stuff, could be a sb ring.
    Could be he has a fit with too many other divas wanting the ball.just have to see. You can bet the pats can walk away with no money if he screws up.
  218. Hahaha, Patriots haters, you guys are the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you for your tears the past 18 years and the absolute joy you have given me with your whining and holier than thou comments.     ———–
    Not so sure about that. He went from a perennial loser to a perennial winner. I seriously doubt he’ll show himself to be as much of a fruit cake now.
  220. There is not enough chemotherapy to prevent the AB cancer from spreading to the New England Cheaters. The fall of the franchise is effective at the signing of this miscreant. If the clowns in New England think they can manage AB better than the Pittsburgh Rusty Nails or the LasVegas-Oakland Rayduhs, then this is a true exercise in insanity!
    It’s an easy summation. Brown is misunderstood, didn’t get a fair shake, etc. He’ll have no problem with it. Pats fans had no problem with Hernandez, even though the red flags about him we’re as prevalent as that star in the sky.
  222. Conspiracy theories are a joke. It’s been well documented the Pats were in on Brown when Pitts was trying to unload him 6 months ago. Sure they had conversations with Rosenhaus. Why the big mystery it got done quickly? Especially since there may have been few suitors, the Pats are contenders and Brown gets to stick it to his old teams. Steelers didn’t want him and Raiders released him. Have fun watching the show haters.
  223. Planned “.”
    Probably been talking to BB all along and together concocted the plan of him staying fresh by taking off practices and doing whatever outlandish things he had to do to get himself released before the season kicked off so they could swoop in and sign him.
    +++
    Welp, the Bronco’s know all about shady and unethical dealings. Maybe the Pats learned from Denver?
  227. You saw how when Thomas got his deal… Better than Antonio’s, the problems began.
    Then Julio signs. Blowing his deal away.
    Antonio needs a one year deal with an extremely good quarterback to get what he wants. He will wait a year but is looking to sign at the front of the receiver pack. He is not stuck on a rebuilding team with a good not great QB on a multi year deal that is now a tier 3 wr contract.
    These things drive Antonio insane. The Steelers managed it for many years. But. Antonio has to be #1. It’s what makes him great when it is not making him crazy.
  228. Totally agree. Planned out. AT Gate now. Now patriots have 2 head cases at receiver what a joke. I guess you cannot
    win old fashion way. Honor reliability! No respect for Pats organization. karma is coming.
  229. I lost a little respect for BB on this one. SMH. Shouldn’t reward crap like this. It’s like giving in to a toddler throwing a tantrum.
  230. As a huge Patriots fan I am sickened by this news. Maybe this enabled diva will play well for the Pats, but I doubt he’ll last, and for sure he’ll be a horrible distraction off the field. Brady doesn’t need this ahole on the team UNLESS the guy wises up (he won’t), and keeps his mouth shut and sticks to just playing football. If he can do that (he won’t), then this MIGHT work out. Even so I’m disgusted he’s on the Pats team. I’d rather see him out of football. He sure as hell is no role model. Cheap price for him, though. His mouth cost him $20 million. What a fool….
The difference in AB and the rest of the Divas is HE KNOWS HOW GOOD HE IS and its up to the team (management, leadership) to figure that out….glad I have the NFL ticket to watch the fireworks.
  233. I just want to see what happens when TB doesn’t throw to AB enough for his liking. Hey AB, it’s better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove ALL doubt. This NFL season is going to be very interesting.
  234. This is Blatant tampering as stories came out yesterday about ,”should the Pats take AB?” all plannned,,SMH and Go Hawks!!!
  235. I have to say, I’m disappointed in the Patriots for this. They have a solid team, and this seems like the kind of desperation move that lesser teams feel they have to make in order to contend.
    The Pats already looked like SB contenders without him. Why take on this level of crazy?
    I thought that a guy with as much respect for the history of the game as Belichick has would find what Brown has been doing to be as appalling as many of us do. It’s hard to reconcile.
    It’s probably too much to hope the Pats are doing this just to make sure no AFC rival gets him, and they’ll actually just let him die a slow death on the bench.
  236. LOL. Gordon, AB, Edelman, James white… I would says Tom Brady has some pro bowl level receivers now. Huh, haters?
  237. Not a fan of this. Brown is going to want the ball. If he thought JuJu was hogging too much of the limelight then he is really going to hate this receiving squad.
    I was hoping to see Dorsett play some this year. He has earned a spot on the roster, in my opinion.
  238. This is awesome. It’s going to be a fun season to watch. No one knows what the clauses in the contract so he might be cut after couple weeks. Anything can happen with this guy.
  239. I cannot wait to see all the tears of sadness and gnashing of teeth when the Patriots get a 3rd round compensatory pick after AB has a monster year with the Pats and then signs a HUGE contract with another team (Seattle?) as a free agent after the season…
  240. The Pats already looked like SB contenders without him. Why take on this level of crazy?
    This could all blow up, but if everything would happen to click, it could be another run at 2007. Still, it’s hard to see AB holding it together for one week let alone a prolonged season.
  241. Patriots offered a 2&4th round picks to Pittsburg, but they took Oakland’s 3&5th to avoid seeing him deep in the playoffs. AB planned this crap the whole time to get to New England.1st, he did everything possible to stay off the field( feet not on purpose), 2 helmet greivances and he was not at the facility. 2nd, physically going after the GM using inciteful racial slur (cracker) and threats of assault until teammates physically restrain him. Thats off the hook and begs to be cut, literally. He had to be pissed when they didn’t suspend him and stated he would play on Monday. Now enter illegally recording the coach without his knowledge or consent and making it public. Now if he thinks any rational person believes that an apology, even a counterfeit one, he is crazier that than most sports journalist worry that he might be. 3rd, he ends up in New England hours later with a $9 million dollar signing bonus and a salary that total $15 million. New England is not gambling here, they know what AB was doing. I would not expect him to have personal issues at all, because his fakea$$ planned the whole thing knowing people would blame the Raiders, and NE didn’t give up a thing. POS, should be suspended, at the very least, for the way he went after a front officer employee.
    I think your interpretation of how others view your “successful” organization is rather Myopic. You are drinking your own Kool-aid, there.
  244. It’s funny reading all the silly posts with people losing their minds and inventing conspiracy theories alleging “tampering” and believing that draft picks should be taken. The Jets were only fined $100,000 for the Darrelle Revis tampering case.
    That was actual tampering and no draft picks were taken away from the Jets. About the same as a regular person being fined a fraction of a penny. The Patriots signed a play who was a free agent at the time of the signing. It’s not tampering. Would you all feel better it the Patriots pay $100,000 bucks to the NFL for signing AB?
  245. No, the haters view is myopic. They think it’s universally shared. Pats are the paragon of well run, successful franchises. Greatest dynasty sports has ever seen.
  246. Allegedly AB called Mayock a “Cracker” for being held to account. If the roles were reversed and the GM called Brown a racist epithet, this story would’ve led the nightly news and Mayock would’ve be fired. Brown’s behavior should result in a league fine and suspension.
  247. Don’t worry Patriot hater told us that Brady can’t throw further than 2 yards.
    Teams can all line up all their defensive backs 2 yards back from the line of scrimmage and Brady won’t complete a pass all season. Or maybe Patriot hater will look silly again and Brady will set even more records.
  248. Will be interesting to see how Brother Bill feels when AB shows up late for meetings. I honestly cannot wait to see this train go off the tracks. Those who think that this clown is suddenly going to change all of his bad habits, because he is now a Patriot, are really naive. AB will be AB. If you don’t recognize that already, you have not been watching. Enjoy, Pats fans!
  249. Hilarious.
    “Feels a little slimey to me. But that’s the Patriot way”
    Signing free agents? Yeah, Patriots do it. So do most teams.
    Compare and contrast how Belichick and Gruden interact with players. Gruden first praises the guy, lets him walk all over the franchise all summer long, up to and including the point when he threatens to punch Mike Mayock, the GM.
    That kind of crap won’t fly in Foxboro.
    Looking forward to a pairing of Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown on the outside, combined with the sound of a million jaws dropping around the nation, as football fans rail at the fact that the universe isn’t conforming with the moralistic structure that they demand of it.
    There is no way a deal gets done a hour after release. This has been in the works as soon as Drew found out the Raiders were going after the 30mill probably thursday. This has tampering written all over it.
    Tampering when Mayock controlled everything. Mayock did some slimy stuff. Why wasn’t Mayock upfront with Brown on what Mayock was doing? Because he knew how Brown would react to unnamed source accusations, two fines, the last causing 30 million guaranteed being voided. Mayock got the nedia to do his dirty work. I’d want to be cut also if Mayock treated me the same way.
  259. If AB had signed with any other team people wouldn’t even be talking about in unless they were actually fans of the team that signed him. Those fans would all be saying positive things about how much better their team would be with AB.
  260. All pat fans feel that everyone hates the patriots. Not true, BB is a great coach and GM. Brady is the goat (in this era) and they seem to find players to surround him with. AB though is a bad decision, he will be late for meetings, complain about not getting the ball, throw others under the bus and air internal issues in the media, what will BB do? Oh and back to all pat fans feel that everyone hates the patriots, everybody hates the obnoxious pat fans. Remember pat fans do not own or run the patriots, only packer fans own and run their team. And they will tell you they are responsible for the roaring 20s championships.
    me thinks this was his plan the whole time .
    Was getting frostbite on his feet part of that master plan?
    Or trying to find a solution to a helmet issue? I didn’t understand why Schutt didn’t create a model for AB.
    Pats are the paragon of well run, successful franchises. Greatest dynasty sports has ever seen.
    No that would be the NY Yankees (1936-1962) who appeared in 19 World Series in 26 years. Winning 16 World Championships.
  263. BB doesn’t burn his players in the media. When asked why? He answers, I do what’s best for the team. The best part is he doesn’t allow the media to bully him. It’s the complete opposite of Mayock’s antics.
    If there truly is a 9 million dollar signing bonus, I can definitely see a tampering investigation. Why would anyone give him 9 million to sign his name after watching this BS?
    ________________________________________________________________________
    If you weren’t stupid, you’d know there cant be tampering with a free agent. But, since you ARE in fact a Steelers fan, you are stupid. So, let’s be clear, no tampering, since his team released him, Patriots picked him up AFTER. It may backfire, but legal, totally. Sorry gave up a 3rd and a 5th for him, but stop crying after we picked up the trash for you.
    =======================
    Thanks for showing your ignorance. That didn’t take too long. Ever heard of before he was cut, hence POSSIBLE tampering/collusion, whatever you want to call it. Wow. Whose stupid now? You’re the same type that, had he signed with another team, would be saying how “stooopid” that team was for signing a cancer like Brown. Now, go crawl back under whatever rock you call home. Also, amazing how PFT let’s certain fanbases continue personal attacks, yet they claim to monitor the comments.
  266. I can’t help but wonder if Bell and AB will look back at their departures from Pit as the time they left tens of millions on the table due to spite. They won’t blame themselves for sure, but what a couple of dopes.
  267. set let me get this straight.
    Browns’ plan all along was to sign a deal for 50 million bucks, 30 million guaranteed, for three years then blow it up so he can sign a deal for 15 million bucks, 9 million guaranteed for one year.
    ummmm.
    no
  268. I wish the late Aaron Hernandez was still on the Patriots and they roomed Brown with him when they were on the road.
    Hernandez would make sure he shut his mouth.
  269. Popcorn time…let’s see how Bill handles this headcase. At least we shouldn’t see any social media posts by AB slamming Brady after week one, but…one never knows with this man-child.
  270. The NFL is playing with fire. Is there to be no honor? Not everyone will forget about this in February. I know I won’t.
    I totally see your point, and I’m not saying something definitely went on as far as tampering/collusion. It’s just strange that, after the guarantees went away, Brown posts that he wants released because ” I have worked my whole life to prove that the system is blind to see talent like mines.Now that everyone sees it, they want me to CONFORM to that same system that has failed me all those years.” Then he gets released, and the team that preaches conformity signs a man, that doesn’t want to conform, to a contract with a 9 million dollar signing bonus after watching the “trainwreck”, and he can end up making basically the same amount of money he was going to make this year with the Raiders had the crap not hit the fan. But, as I said before, just seems strange, and I can see how it MAY raise flags with the league office.
  272. In a fair world, Brown would be banned from signing with another team. Stuff like this hurts the whole league. And in a fair world, the Pats should be required to compensate Oakland with draft picks given the circumstances.
    Having said that, I chuckle at Pats fans claiming they don’t want Brown on their team for team cancer reasons (rather than for League integrity reasons as they should be stating.) Given his talent, only an idiot wouldn’t take a chance that he’ll behave. I’m sure if they win the Super Bowl this year, no Pats fan is going to put an asterisk next to it because Brown was on the team. Oh, and I’m no Oakland fan (Packers fan), though I sympathize with them in this.
  273. AB will succeed in alienating both Brady and Bellicheck.
    In a few short weeks the Patriots will be seeking to relocate him to the Montreal Allouttes, and will pay his airfare and moving expenses.
    Every team in the league wants to copy the Patriot Way.
    ___________________________________
    So, the Patriot Way is signing Antonio Brown?
  275. The thing is. AB hasn’t done anything that bad. But football fans are fools and drama queens, so they freak out over little things.
    What a wise man knows is that the real problem is still in Pittsburgh.
  276. Hope he has to pay his fines to the Raiders before he goes to NE! Time for the commissioner to put his big boy pants on and have this guy mentally evaluated before he plays any football!
  277. The question now is does Brady and Belacheat dare have the nerve to cuss him out when he screws up on the field or misbehaves.the guy is a loose cannon with a short fuse and hopefully he once again blows up so the country can again laugh at his foolish antics.
  278. if you think for one second rosenhaus wasnt looking for a new team the minute this all started your crazy as brown but because its the patriots there must be some scam .
    any other team it would be ok though right SMH as usual
  279. Weird that the Raiders didn’t use the five day letter on Brownto block him from other teams. Brown will either have 15 tds this year or be cut by week 6. Low risk.
  280. Has anyone noticed how quiet AB has been since this signing? No tweets, not instagrams, no You Tube videos?
    Someone was going to sign Brown and it was the Pats. He’s their problem now. If there was tampering, let it be investigated and the chips fall where they may.
    Brown should be suspended for his actions in Oakland, no doubt about it.
    As a Steelers’ fan, our goal is the Superbowl as it should be for every other team in the league. Let’s play ball and see how ends up on top.
  281. For those that claim tampering and it was Brown’s plan all along, riddle me this- why would AB and his agent throw away 30 mil. for pennies from the Patriots?
