Dak Prescott is “not going to allow” Josh Norman to be “a motivation”

Dak Prescott heard Josh Norman‘s “anybody can do that” comment earlier this week. How could he not?

The Cowboys quarterback, though, insists he didn’t put much stock in it.

“Yeah, I heard it, but I am not going to allow him be a motivation to me,” Prescott said after Sunday’s game. “I have enough things that motivate me and keep me going. What someone says good or bad about me isn’t the case, especially when he is not on this team.”

Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper defended Norman, putting the bulletin board portion of the quote in context.

Norman credited the Cowboys offensive line for Prescott’s perfect passer rating against the Giants in the season opener, saying, “You stand back there in the pocket all day and go through your first, second and third reads and come back to your first one, OK, cool. Anybody can do that. At the end of the day, he’s been playing well. As you can see, he’s evolved. He’s growing in the system. He’s just taking his keys and picking his targets and throwing the ball on time.”

“I don’t really think it was trash talk, because I read the whole thing,” Cooper said. “He definitely gave Dak some compliments. He just alluded to the fact that when you don’t have pressure in your face it’s a bit easier to throw the ball.”

Prescott ended the game with 18 consecutive completions, completing all 14 of his second-half attempts. He finished 26-of-30 for 269 yards with three touchdowns and an interception, a passer rating of 123.5. That came after a 4-for-6 start for 19 yards and an interception in the first quarter.

  1. I loathe Josh Norman and his overrated status.

That said, Dakota has done nothing in his career of note. And beating two winless teams in a row is not doing anything. Alice Smith with the Washington Numbskins did that last year. Dakota is one hit away from being a former QB wearing halloween costume ex-running back.

  2. Well, Brady has won 6 Super Bowls because there hasn’t been any pressure in his face. The only time he didn’t win was because the Giants actually had a pass rush in his face, the 2 times they played an then the Eagles. So, there’s truth in what he was saying.

  3. Its been only 2 weeks but somehow the Cowboys are a lock to not only be in the Superbowl but to win it all???……Child please!!!!

  4. @Ultraviolet Thunder he’s beat good teams and stepped up to win tough games in the first 3 years his young career yet you only bring up his last 2 games when making what you think is a good point.

  5. Josh Norman is all mouth. He’s washed up. He played like he was fearing for his life against a third rounder throwing to another third rounder and a couple of castoffs.

  6. The Cowboys have another very good QB. I know it sucks, people, but it is what it is.

Oh, and for the “It’s just 2 games!!” crowd: Dak is 34-16 as a starter with a 98.0 career passer rating, plus 18 rushing TDs just for fun.

That passer rating, by the way, is currently good for 3rd-best in NFL history.

Dak WINS, he puts up terrific numbers, he’s CLUTCH and he’s a great leader with a tremendous work ethic.

Hate him all you want to, but Dak was already pretty good entering 2019 and he’s still improving. He’s completing 82% of his passes this season and the ball’s been coming out on time. Look out.

Well said. I’m so sick of seeing QBs run for their life the entire game and we say they suck, while Brady sits in a clean pocket throwing 5 yard passes and we say he’s the greatest.

LOL – First game of the season -every- team is “winless”, genius. Second game half of the teams, good or bad, will be winless.

What an idiotic thing to say in Week 2 of the season.
