Trevor Siemian injured, Luke Falk in for Jets

AP

This night could not get much worse for the Jets.

They began the Monday night game without linebacker C.J. Mosley (groin), defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (ankle) and quarterback Sam Darnold (mono). They trail the Browns 13-3.

Now, backup quarterback Trevor Siemian is hurt.

Luke Falk entered the game with 7:44 left in the half as Siemian limped into the locker room with a lower leg injury that did not look good.

Siemian was injured on a roughing the passer penalty on Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, his second 15-yard penalty of the night. Siemian’s left leg bent underneath him.

The Jets promoted Falk from the practice squad last week. He had never previously played in a regular-season game, but he spent last year with the Dolphins with Adam Gase as his coach and joined the Jets in May. So Siemian knows Gase’s offense well.

The Jets scored a field goal after Falk entered the game, but his only attempt and only completion went for only 1 yard.

  1. Dirty play by that Cleveland player – ban him for the rest of the season. Absolutely unnecessary action. Dirty and unethical.

  2. Weird this happened with a Gregg Williams coached defense. They are obviously taking shots, obviously. NFL let him back and people are getting hurt.

  3. Myles Garrett is a complete lowlife. There should be a rule that 2 roughing the passer in the same quarter is an automatic ejection. That second one was painful to watch.

  4. “This night could not get much worse for the Jets.”

And it’s not looking any better for the Jets come Sunday afternoon either.

Wishing Trevor Siemian all the best and a speedy recovery.

Why on earth is this a MNF primetime game?

  6. Weird this happened with a Gregg Williams coached defense. They are obviously taking shots, obviously. NFL let him back and people are getting hurt.

You do realize that Greg Williams is the DC for the Jets, right? Myles Garrett is the one that injured Siemian

  7. Just awful to see a guy get hurt on a senseless, unnecessary, illegal hit.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Gregg Williams try to extract some revenge in the second half.

    Williams coaches the Jets Defense.

  9. Serious question: is ESPN trying to forever kill the MNF franchise? Keeping these guys in the booth and these god awful, just wretched halftime “performances”? Surely there are people there in programming who know better???

“Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”

  11. The Browns are talking lots of late cheap shots. It sure looks like they are playing to injure people.

  12. This Myles Garrett guy is another dirty player like Vontaze Burfict and Suh. He needs to be suspended for the year! He is the #1 pick so he is desperate to make plays but only plays dirty. He is a piece of garbage on a garbage team led by an arrogant tool for QB. So sad to see the Jets play totally undermanned and get penalized at the most important position for the Jets. Garbage Browns and I’m not even a Jets fan.

  13. Garrett just did another dirty play – body slammed the opposing QB directly on that player’s shoulder. The intent to damage players is coming through – ban this jerk!

  14. With CJ Mosley, Quinnen Williams and Sam Darnold all out, this piece of garbage for the Browns Myles Garrett has to injure the back up QB! Is this what this moron Kitchens preaches or is this Garrett dude just a dirty player like Burfict and Suh?? Knowing the culture of the Browns I would say he is just a dirty sucker because he can’t do much without being dirty.

  15. I’ve been telling you all, Gase offense game planning and play calling is the most predictable in the league. The NY media will have his lunch by week 6.
This guy is a fraud and only got a HC gig because of coaching Manning and we all know it was Manning that ran that offense in Denver.
Injuries or not the Jets are almost as bad as Miami. He will single handedly destroy 2 AFCE franchises by the end of 2019

  16. Hey browns fans guess what your going too win tonite. But the bigger news is that your all star team looks like crap. Mr mayfield is going too get laid out and I can’t wait. Mayfield or Odell is going home with a limp. And your team isn’t winning a dam thing anytime soon

who do the JETS play next week?
    —————————————–

    Does it matter?

  18. A team with bad coaching and injuries all over and 2nd then third string QB vs. a team with bad coaching but the starting QB and a hundred million dollars of healthy free agents and yeah, that final score makes sense. And all the penalties. And the cheap shots.

On a positive note, this is first game of NFL season where refs were most competent and professional element on the field. The refs actually did a good job, don’t think I’ve seen that crew work a game yet either.

    Anywho…how your Jets doin?

  20. Think I saw at least eight different fans wearing the same puma track suit in the stands tonight.

  21. Lousy game. Blame it on the coaches. Bell got no help from his team. You’d think when you have no QB you would game plan to have your star runner get your team some points. Browns looked flat with a few flashes.

  22. Florio’s prediction: Jets 24, Browns 23. Well, at least he got the second half of the score right. Bahahahahaha.

Why on earth is this a MNF primetime game?

Cuz the rest of the world didn’t want to watch the Patriots play another (read ANOTHER) pop warner quality team and hear how great they are. That’s why.

  24. Myles Garrett hit–if he had tried to hit Siemian in the head, he would have been ejected. He came VERY late and landed full bodyweight on the guy–and broke his ankle instead. If he doesn’t get suspended for a game, its a total joke. Super reckless and very late.

Its easier to get ejected for a head shot, but..the Myles Garrett rule should be–two roughing the passer penalties in a game–and you are EJECTED!

  25. Many of you may be too young to remember but back in the 70s, MNF was IT! Howard, Dandy Don and Frank Gifford. It was must see tv! Roone Arledge of ABC wanted to interject show biz entertainment into football and came up with MNF. It was a very big deal to be on MNF. Today, we have MNF, SNF, TNF. saturday football in December……the product has become diluted. Sad to see what MNF has become today. It used to be the Queen of the dance. Those days are long gone.

  26. Not trying to be mean…but seeing Sieman mic’d up before the game and I’m like..this guy is a goof. He’s not very serious about this game…He just doesn’t have a clue about playing football. Sorry to see him get hurt but at least he paid for the rest of the year.

Someone find out the amount of the bounty Williams put on Semian. Scumbag!

    *****
You do know Semian and Williams are on the same team, right?

  28. I have always felt that if a player is hurt because of a dirty hit, the player that did the dirty hit should be suspended for the amount of time it takes the player to get healthy again.

  29. Luke Falk – pride of the state champion Logan High Grizzlies. Excellent basketball player too. Don’t underestimate his athleticism. Lit it up in HS and college.

  30. if the browns playing mediocre football leads to an easy 23-3 win, just imagine if they played on all cylinders. tht would be scarry.

and to the idiots saying myles garrett should be ejected, what about suh? he practiacally threw mayfield like yesterdays trash this preseason, where’s his ejection? quit qhining about the fact the browns have a real defense, something the jests clearly do not.

  31. Question what constitutes a dirty hit? Do you know how hard it is to stop yourself mid tackle that split second after the QB releases the ball. No one wants anyone to get hurt but come on man look at the play again and ask yourself if you were that big and that fast if you could stop yourself mid stride without hurting yourself almost impossible. Hes not a dirty player, but one things for sure Ny needs a new left tackle hes getting QBs hurt out there.
