Packers promoting tight end from practice squad

The Packers didn’t practice yesterday, but if they did, Jimmy Graham wouldn’t have.

So they’re bringing in some help at the position.

According to Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Packers will be bringing up tight end Evan Baylis from the practice squad.

They had the roster spot after trading receiver/return man Trevor Davis to the Raiders. Baylis has also spent time with the Texans, Colts, and Panthers.

Graham was listed as not participating in yesterday’s walk-through because of a groin injury.

  1. If Jimmy isn’t able to go this week then Baylis would be the 3rd TE behind Bobby Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis.

It is great to have great depth when Jace is on IR and Jimmy is banged up a bit.

Some teams just don’t have these luxeries.

  2. *luxuries

You knew Evan Baylis was moving up in the world when he showed up at practice today wearing his new #88. Baylis wore #49 previously.

Jimmy Graham went through stretches today, but Jimmy was not in pads and did not practice.

  3. It feels like GB can’t catch a break at the starting TE position everytime there is promise it ends up falling apart or something crazy happens, It seems like for the last decade, starting with Finley he showed promise but always ended getting banged up and Andrew Quarless ends up being the starting TE, and then he had that terrible injury causing him to retire.

Richard Rodgers who was all right as a TE but not the dynamic fast threat the Packers that could help maxmize the offense, but did have some very notable plays during his time in GB. Jared Cook then came into town and while starting the season hurt, after getting some reps turned out to be a GREAT compliment to the offense, and also made some amazing plays in the post-season for them, but that was his only season.

Then Bennett came into town, and we don’t need to say much other than he was the kind of person that showed exactly why TT was hesitant to bring in older vets at some times, because of injurys, attitude, and declining play.

They sign Graham he is banged up alot which was a knock on him, so then they go out and draft Sternberger and he ends up on IR. Its frustrating, they haven’ had any stability there for a while.

  4. Wait, Irv Smith was going to have a HUGE IMPACT this season and be the reason the Vikings don’t need a #3 WR. Are you telling me that I was right about Irv Smith when I said it takes at least a year for most rookie TE’s to blossom in the NFL?

Don’t laugh at Vikings fan though. He gets very butthurt when it has been proven that the current Packers roster is superior to his precious little Vikings. He really thought this was the Vikings year.😭

    Poor Barney
