Report: Antonio Brown harasses latest accuser via text message

Antonio Brown may have crossed the line, as far as the NFL and the Patriots are concerned.

Robert Klemko of SI.com reports that Brown has sent harassing text messages to the unnamed accuser who shared allegations with Klemko regarding Brown’s behavior after Brown hired her to paint a mural at his house.

“I’m on my knees painting the [mural], and he walks up to me butt-ass naked, with a hand cloth covering his [penis] and starts having a conversation with me,” the woman told Klemko. “Unfortunately, I’ve been tried [by men] a lot of times, so I just kept my cool and kept painting. After that, it all ended abruptly.”

Brown reportedly has sent a group text message to the woman, accusing her of fabricating a “bull sh-t” story in an effort to “make up some stuff for money.” He also called her a “super broke girl with a lot of kids,” and he encouraged someone to whom Brown refers as “Eric B” to investigate her in order to “see how broke this girl is.”

Brown also sent a screen shot of an Instagram photo of the woman’s children, adding that the woman is “awfully broke clearly.”

On Thursday night, the woman’s lawyer sent a letter to the NFL explaining that Brown is “intimidating and threatening . . . our client, in violation of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy.”

“Our client . . .  is understandably frightened by these text messages, which are clearly intended to threaten and intimidate her,” attorney Lisa J. Banks wrote. “While she certainly qualifies as a ‘starving artist,’ she has never approached Mr. Brown, nor will she, about seeking money to compensate her for his sexual misconduct, contrary to his allegations in the text messages.”

Amazingly, Brown’s lawyer was included in the group texts. Darren Heitner tells Klemko that Heitner did not advise Brown to communicate with the woman.

The league responded to the letter within an hour. Investigators will speak to the woman’s lawyers about the situation.

“This sort of intimidation and harassment is the reason victims are often so reluctant to step forward in these cases,” Banks told Klemko. “We have confidence the NFL and the Patriots will step in and end this behavior.”

The Personal Conduct Policy expressly prohibits “[s]talking, harassment, or similar forms of intimidation.” The fact that the behavior has been directed at a woman who has made allegations regarding misconduct makes the situation even worse for Brown. Employers routinely take swift and decisive action against employees who are accused of misconduct and who harass or intimidate those who have made the accusations.

The Patriots, who like any NFL team wouldn’t have signed Brown if they’d known about the sexual assault and rape lawsuit that was filed last week, likewise have not been inclined to terminate the relationship based solely on uncorroborated allegations in a civil action. If Brown sent these messages to a woman who chimed in with her own allegations of misconduct by Brown, that gives the Patriots a much more tangible basis for severing ties with Brown.

Regardless of what the Patriots do, the league can take action against Brown. The aggressive and angry response directed to an accuser could be enough, for example, to cause the Commissioner to believe that Brown “may have violated” the Personal Conduct Policy as to Britney Taylor, justifying immediate placement of Brown on the Commissioner-Exempt list.

However it plays out, Brown apparently has committed yet another serious error of judgment, one that has placed his current employment in real jeopardy.

  1. On one hand. This dude is trash and needs to be shunned by the NFL. On the other hand, this spiral into an increasing mentally ill state is just sad and this dude needs some help

  2. Wait. Slow down. Drop back and punt, if you will. He included his lawyer in the text messages? Was he thinking “what? I was transparent about it. I included the lawyer because I’m not trying to hide anything..”. This guy doesn’t get it. Hasn’t gotten it. And continues to show he’s never going to get it.

Is there any language around that $9 million signing bonus that he would have to repay it if he gets in trouble with the league?

  3. Not necessarily threatening. He’s telling her she is broke. Nevertheless he’s an idiot and shouldn’t have a phone or Internet.

  4. Wow…..so I guess we’ll get to see how good phillip dorsett is, huh? If this is true, obviously AB isn’t interested in playing football anymore.

  5. What is going through this dudes head? Or is it the fact that he knows nothing will happen to him because he is a patriot?

  6. AB is one of the best receivers of all time in terms of talent, but his legacy will be forever tainted by his unchecked ego and teenage behaviour. What a massive waste of a career in its prime.

I’m a huge fan of his playmaking and want to like him, but as a father of a daughter and seeing how he treats women I absolutely can’t stand him. he completely deserves whatever he gets. Stupid boy…

  7. Why wouldn’t he do this? He’s gotten away with anything he’s wanted till now. Getting signed by the winningest team of the last 20 years after all his bs just showed him he can get away with anything. NFL teams coddle their stars and this is the result.

  8. Huge Pat’s fan!!!
But they need to release this POS now!!
Even before the NFL suspends him..
He will never play another down in the NFL, Hopefully!!!

  9. Brown is all the way off his rocker. But I don’t think that he is a rapist. Throughout the incoherent and bad grammar of his text medsages and such, his relationships with these women seem to be much more involved than these complaints state. Apparently these women are just flying out and spending the night with Antonio Brown to read the bible and paint pictures, yeah right.

  10. Brown has an awful lot of middle class women in and out of his life. Does he have some kind of white knight complex here? Plus, even if BS, associating yourself with ambitious, opportunistic, broke sistas is a recipe for allegations, money grabs, and civil action.

There really is no bit of his behavior that isn’t disturbing, whether or not the allegations themselves are true.

  11. The ironic thing in all of this is, after a few years out of football, Brown will be more “broke” than the girl. Given his overly lavish lifestyle, endorsements dropping, and mounting civil suits, the writing is on the wall (no pun).

  12. Pats should get ahead of it and suspend him two games specifically for this action, which must have occured while he was a Pat. I’ve been fine with the Pats non-action thus far. But doing something while you are a Patriot is different.

  13. Harassing yes. Where are the threats and intimation?

Also if investigate isn’t in quotes then that’s not what he said. So what was the exact wording and why isn’t it being used here?

  14. Man he is dumb. The Patriots truly don’t need him, so it wouldn’t be that much of blow for them to get rid of him. He seems to be self destructing before our eyes.

  15. Commissioner’s Exempt List my eye! Suspension without pay until the investigation is over. Then, if he violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy, can him once and for all. Any slack the NFL would give this guy would only perpetuate his primadonna attitude of being bigger than the league.

Not necessarily threatening. He’s telling her she is broke. Nevertheless he’s an idiot and shouldn’t have a phone or Internet.

Please read the text completely, he references sending someone to look into her, as well as referencing her children. That is both intimidating and harrassing.

  17. But the equivalent player on the Patriots top AFC competitor, Tyreek Hill, told a woman he had previously assaulted that she should be afraid of him, and there was no punishment. So if the NFL suspended Brown but not Hill, it would look like they are trying to pick winners. Goodell likes fo pick winners, otherwise this would give him pause.

  18. Not entirely sure why the league is dragging this out … Brown’s attack on Mayock should have warranted a suspension immediately. Not to mention his throwing furniture off a balcony that nearly injured two people.

This new text is a form of intimidation, clearly there is something wrong with this man because I would hate to think that his behavior is purely due to his ego.

  19. He’s playing for the Patriots now though, nothing to see here, I’m sure he’ll be allowed to carry on.

  20. He needs mental help. If he couldn’t play football there is a good chance he would be in jail or homeless (still time for both). Past time to severe ties and if is in uniform this weekend I am not watching any games.

  21. I AM A GOD! YOU MUST WORSHIP ME!!! Sorry dude, but just because you have a lot of money & fame doesn’t mean all women will find a shabby, insane hot-mess like you irresistible. This nut should have a nuclear waste warning tattooed on his forehead! He is a bigger meltdown than Three Mile!

  22. Over the pond here in the UK we have 1 or 2 unhinged people in sports who you can’t fathom out their actions , but I have to say Mr Brown is a league above any of them – I read in disbelief what he gets up to .

  23. It’s all just a big misunderstanding. He must have been trying to promote his charity of giving to those poor kids and can’t properly communicate his actions!? Shame everyone rushes to such harsh assessments of this honorable individual that can catch a football..Go Pats…should be proud of themselves…

  24. Blah, blah, blah. These stories are fa.ke. Don’t fall for this manufactured drama. Brown will play every game the rest of this season.

  25. so much football talent.. and i know 7 year olds with more brains.. the F man.. broncos fan, so cool he left the raiders, but.. brother, you need help. after 2 iraq tours, i’m saying that..

  26. Any references to the Patriot Way trivialize the issue of sexual assault. This is no laughing matter and nothing to be exploited for your personal gain (though I cannot imagine what a fan of the Jets, Colts, or some other rival would gain from this). It also puts the poster in the same class as the accused. Drive by posts intended to harass a fan base are in the same vein as the texts the accused is alleged to have used to harass the accuser.

  27. Neither the league nor the Patriots can end this behavior. Only AB can end the behavior. They can suspend him. That’s all. That’s what the accused seems to want when she appeals to the league and the Patriots.

She will need to seek police protection if he is suspended. If you think he’s angry NOW …

  28. Is this dude even mentally fit enough to be in the league. Sure, innocent till proven guilty, but this is just sheer idiocy. The NFL gave him the benefit of the doubt in the investigation, but this has to be too far

  29. “Brown also sent a screen shot of an Instagram photo of the woman’s children, adding that the woman is “awfully broke clearly.”. Well, he did cross the line. You don’t bring the children into it. He is trying to intimidate her. He just said “guilty”.

  30. Brown MIGHT play this weekend.

By next weekend, I fully expect him to be suspended/on the commissioner’s exempt list or cut by the Patriots. Or a combo platter of the above.

  31. I along with few others said two weeks ago no matter who signs him after raiders cut him will regret it. It’s not worth it. Then there were those who applauded NE for signing him.

Where are they now? How could you not know this would happen as quickly as it did for the raiders??

  32. As much as i hate you patsies,i actually feel sorry for your fsn base,no fanbase deserves a narcissist like this.

  33. This is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. I’m revising my earlier predictions. Brown will be suspended within a week, he will be out of the league permanently by the beginning of next season at the latest, and he will file for bankruptcy within two years after, what with the loss of endorsement and advertising income, and the loss of his NFL paycheck.

In a way I feel bad for him, as he had to have learned this behavior growing up. Nevertheless, he’s doing it to himself, and whatever free passes he may have had are now used up and gone.

  34. Saying teams wouldn’t have signed him, had they been aware if the allegation is completely false. The Pateiots did know, as Belechick himself was quoted as saying “we looked in to it” (reporter right here on PFT), and they obviously know now, so it isnt a concern to them, and wont be until they are forced to make it a concern.

  35. So…what is the threat or implied threat?
Seriously, didn’t everyone think she was getting into line for some money when her story was told? If she is broke, who is paying this lawyer – because he isn’t doing this pro bono.

  36. Wondered what type of lawyer this woman could afford to stop a text message. Legal aid, maybe?
Nope. Lisa J. Banks. Partner in a major Washington DC law firm, with an office in Philly. 2017 lawyer of the year for employment law.

And nobody thinks this law firm smells money somewhere?

    The Patriot Way…
    ——————————–

I would ask you to explain how the creation of this jackass via the decade long enabling and encouragement of the Rooney family, Steelers management, Steelers coaches, Steelers media, and Steelers fanboys make this the “Patriot Way,” but I know you have no explanation.

  38. These women are scandalous. Any report comes out, and people think it’s the truth.

Funny timing if you ask me. Seems like a money grab.

    PS – I’m a Giants fan.

  39. I always want to err on the side of innocent until proven guilty. But if the text messages prove to be from Brown then they are, in my opinion, enough to justify an indefinite suspension if the CBA allows for that.

Mister Big Chest who do you think you are…

    …you think you’re higher
    Than every star above

  41. The Patriots know exactly what they did, the owner and AB are both very similar, but Kraft has way more bling & class (both are misogynistic). Both are mentally ill thinking women are commodities. Time to wake up world. Women are not equal to steaks or drugs or yachts. Wake up. End the abuse of women and the environment of negativity toward anything not male & human.

  42. firecracker87 says:
Man, I wish I had his talents and at his age. I’d be walking the straight line for sure and raking in the bucks. How are guys like this so dumb?
    —————————————————————————————-
God doesn’t give anyone everything. It’s usually a mix of talent, wisdom and intellect in varying proportions. Some people are just extremely talented!

  43. This guy harassed the Steelers into a contract extension then harassed them into trading him to the raiders. He harassed the Raiders into giving him a new contract. Then he harassed Mike Mayock into cutting him and ended up getting quite a bit of guaranteed money from the Pats. He has been harassing his employers and getting exactly what he wants…all in the public eye. Not hard to believe he harasses everyone else. He’s like a spoiled child but is weaponized by wealth, game, and talent.

  44. The headline (“Antonio Brown harasses latest accuser via text message”) states it as confirmed fact that he did this. But then the article explains how there was a text from a number they still need to see who’s it was and that this is going to be investigated. (Kind of makes it obvious in the comments who really read the article and who just the headline) Keep in mind that any person can create a false account and start pretending to be someone, its a way to generate problems for others that is not hard to do (a problem in todays world). So I really would like to see them confirm that before its acted on simply because this country needs to move back from what is too many mob justice mentalities.

But that said, even if he is innocent of every one of the various accusations the reason for there being so much of it is because of how he conducts his life in a way that generates enemies. And there is a point where a guy has so many enemies after him all the time that he simply becomes a circus for any NFL team trying to work with him (recall the argument that Kaep coming with a guaranteed media circus being a reason teams should stand back from him) and whether fair to the individual or not its healthier for the team to not have that connection to it all. Its actually not unfair to the individual because even if they are innocent on any accusation (and I am not saying he is, only ‘if’) the circus itself was still their doing. Its enough for a Pats fan (me) to think that guilty or innocent he hurts my favorite team with all this noise more than he helps them with his (admittedly incredible) skills on the field.

  45. they Need to bring back celebrity boxing.
I would pay to see someone smack around Brown for awhile
Throw Jalen Ramsey in there too

  46. Apparently, NO one on here even clicked the link to read the full text messages. This is terrible journalism. Cutting out words to make it seem far worse. Basically a hit piece. Since you all are too lazy to click on a link here is what the text says.
“Really sad you would make up bull sh*t story to the world thought u had more integrity n respect for yourself must be really hard times for to make up some stuff for money super sad”
“This the girl who unfinished my painting in my room from (redacted) from super broke girl with lots of kids such a shame”
“This her in text Eric B let’s look up her background history see how broke this girl is from (redacted) Basically cried broke for opportunities I let paint my room couldn’t finish I flew out now to hear this so sad”
He never threatened her in anyway.

  47. The Patriots knew about these allegations before signing Brown but didn’t care. If they didn’t know and did care, they would have cut Brown immediately and made sure Drew Rosenhaus was never an NFL agent again.

  48. This dude needed to be in jail yesterday! If it were you or I, we’d be serving 10-20 years immediately! What a loser.

  49. Antonio Brown On Thursday afternoon: “I appreciate that question, and I’m just here to focus on football,” he said. “Looking forward to getting out there in the home stadium and being with the team.”

    That did not last long…

  50. If he only contributes to one win for the Patsies then he’s served Belichick’s purpose. The Pat’s dont care what kind of person you are “just win baby” that’s all that matters. It’s the Patriot way.

  51. The Pats will never cut AB. They threw out morals a long time ago. If he can produce, he will stay on the team.

  52. Same trash, different day. Defend this action TYLAWPICKS…..I am guessing this is Pittsburgh’s and Oakland’s fault too.

  53. Ok. Clearly something needs to be done. He is obviously a narcissist and has issues. If he is going through all this other stuff (that he did to himself), and he still thinks these actions are acceptable, its time to pull the plug on him and sit him down for a while until he can get his crap together. If the NFL and the Pats don’t do anything (even if you are a Pats fan, smh), then what does that say about them?

  54. How do you know the Patriot’s wouldn’t have signed him or didn’t know about this? AB knew that it was coming, he might have told them. After all, if you look at some of the players they have used they obviously don’t care about morals, only production!

  55. I have been around for a long time… and the NFL has been littered with some bad dudes and idiots for years…

But I cant remember ANYBODY whom continually makes mistakes at such a rapid rate.

    This is ridiculous…

He needs to be exempt list right now.

  56. Its not just a lack of respect for women its demeaning and now looks to be unlawful. At what point do the Patriots say that’s going too far?

  57. I’m sure this is just a misunderstanding, like the situation with the Steelers, Raiders, Mike Mayock, the woman he’s accused by and on and on, just a misunderstanding…….nothing to see here……just a misunderstanding.

  58. As far as I’m concerned as soon as he involved her children he stepped over a line and he can’t go back. Any coach, GM, or owner that deals with him is a POS and I don’t care what their win / loss record is.

  59. Why is this guy playing in the NFL. It’s a joke, does a video have to surface of him brutalizing a woman have to surface for the league to do anything about it? I thought we were past that and the NFL wanted to clean up their act. You would think after Hernandez the Patriots would think twice before signing a bad man. I guess not.

  60. If she’s a starving artist with a bunch of kids, is her attorney working pro bono? Where’s that money coming from? Just curious…

  61. The league already dropped the ball on discipline for threats…..

Didn’t T Hill tell his wife she should be scared of him too b**ch which is definitely a threat, and he got nothing for it..

  62. A child trapped in a man’s body. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt with so many holes in the original accuser’s story, but now its time for this guy to go. He just can’t stop himself and how could he not know this would enrage Belichick and the Pats management much less put him and his attorneys in a more difficult place than they already are?

What a fool. Would have been nice to see Brady with another premier receiver but this is not going to be the end. He will keep it up and bury himself.

  63. Yes, that’s exactly it.
If Roger has shown anything at all towards the Pats it’s been leniency, calm and measured approaches to investigations and above all else the ability to reason things out rationally.

What is going through this dudes head? Or is it the fact that he knows nothing will happen to him because he is a patriot?

  64. This is fun to watch unfold. I hope he goes down in flames slowly. He has already lost a lot of his guaranteed NFL money and sponsorships. Even if he didnt commit the crimes he is a giant baby that is getting what he deserves.

  65. The Patriots don’t care what he does. Belichick is suppose to be the only coach that could control him. It would embarrassing for him. The perfect Patriots screwed up!!

  66. I read the texts and were is the harrassment. He wasnt ordered by the courts not to contact her. This guy yes he has a couple screws missing upstairs but is getting attacked from left to right and hate him or not that’s not enough to punish him.The NFL needs to talk to him tell him to zip his mouth or he is out of the NFL this year thats it.Its NFL season and I’m tired of hearing about Antonio Brown let’s move on.

  67. Yeah, like the Pats care about that stuff. As long as he can go out and play he has carte blanche to do whatever punk moves that he wants. Hope Gisele likes Tommy’s new BFF

  68. HOW IS THIS HARASSMENT??? This doesn’t even come close to any definition of it.

Oh wait, you threw in Antonio Brown’s name just to get the fake morale outrage crowd going. I see…

  69. Can the NFL suspend this guy already? Its a joke that is he making millions of dollars while acting this way. If 99% of the world acted this way, their employer would let them go in a second. This is way beyond ridiculous.

  70. Definitely a dumb move by him….. that said, I don’t see it as threatening or harassing, rather as comments that show she has motives to make allegations to set the grounds for joining the civil suit…..
I’m NOT defending his actions as he should just ignored the noise & not fan the flames or do anything that could further hurt his image as perceived by the public……
There’s a time & place to defend yourself against hearsay & any type of law suit be it CIVIL OR CRIMINAL in nature…

  71. No threatening content in the text.

Was AB ordered by a judge not to have contact with her?

However this does give Goodell enough reason to suspend him.

    Patriot fan?

  73. “that gives the Patriots a much more tangible basis for severing ties with Brown.”

That assumes that the Pats actually *want* to sever ties with him – it is not clear whether this is the case. The modus operandi with the lawsuit has been “keep his profile low and lets see how it plays out” plus the usual “we’re on to Cincinnati” cone of silence.

  74. I really care most about what happened with Britney Taylor. If he did those things he should be in jail. If he didn’t, then I don’t know what to think anymore.

  75. > HOW IS THIS HARASSMENT???

He’s group texting pictures of her children and telling he’s sending some guy named Eric to investigate her and show her how broke she is. How is this NOT harrassment?

  76. OH BOY….. here comes the keyboard warriors….. time to jump up on that pedestal & proclaim their FAUX OUTRAGE, demand AB be banned for life & ONLY THEN will things be right in the world……
comments should be comical in their outrage……

  77. “if they’d known about the sexual assault and rape lawsuit that was filed last week, likewise have not been inclined to terminate the relationship based solely on uncorroborated allegations in a civil action. “

Pats should have cut him for hiding a serious legal exposure before he signed. Terms of his deal give them that right. Or they could just cut him for no reason at all, it is the NFL after all.

  78. This dude can’t help himself from being a dumbass.. the league will have him gone by tomorrow. No chance they allow him to play again any time soon.

  79. The reason you hire a lawyer and agent is to let them handle things for you. Did AB not get the memo ? Posting a photo of her children, really crosses the line especially when they had nothing to do with the SI story. Clearly, AB you are missing a few brain cells.

  80. Be done with this clown and get him out of the league! He should have to buy a ticket for the next time that he steps foot into an NFL stadium.

  81. “HOW IS THIS HARASSMENT??? This doesn’t even come close to any definition of it.”
    ————————-
How can you not see that any level of engagement with or challenging of an accuser is harrassment, and not to mention unbelievably stupid?!

There’s no other side to this argument.

  82. Pat’s could use the cap room to sign a pro bowl left tackle…..clearly a greater need than a troubled yet talented WR.

  83. There are plenty of guys out there that can run fast. jump, catch, flip, hell, the Chiefs for two of them that they wont even know what to do with when Tyreek comes back. Why give this guy millions and oit up with this stuff if there is no need to. Stars come and go.

  84. I don’t think she actually “accused” Brown but was interviewed and told her story to Sports Illustrated. Its being interpreted as an “accusation”. Why is she telling this incident to SI? What is wrong with all these people?

  85. To the person who compared AB to TO, they’re not really comparable. TO never sexually assaulted anyone nor was he repeatedly accused of it. They’re both dramatic but they aren’t comparable in regards to something that serious.

  86. If threatening is against the policy, why was Tyreek Hill never suspended when they had the threat recorded.

Let’s try to apply the rules evenly. If Brown broke the rules, suspend him, but also suspend the others that broke the same rule.

  87. AB is almost, if not outright, forcing the Patriots to take actions against him….up until this point ALL the alleged allegations & questionable behavior happened BEFORE he was signed by the Patriots…by all accounts he had been a model citizen & teammate……THAT is no longer the case…..I understand his frustration toward all the negative publicity & perceived public perception & wanting to do SOMETHING to alleviate it but in a correct way….. it was social media messages that started all this (as well as allegations in a civil suit) & he’s got to stay off it & not add to his troubles….. IT MAY BE TOO LATE TO DO EVEN THAT AS FAR AS PATRIOTS ARE CONCERNED NOW…..

  88. Stop, the Pat’s arent releasing him. Please stop acting like they have any morals whatsoever. They dont care that he was accused of rape, only that it we t public. He goes nowhere until the nfl forces the Pats to make a move

  89. Pats fanboys are easy to compare to a person walking on ice with leather soled shoes. One slight move and the arms go in every direction at once. The Fanboys are really spinning their trash to polish this turd but realize it wont pass the smell test. The Fanboys were ragging the Steelers for not doing anything to AB…..well now its time Bg Mouths for the Pats to do something….right? Not holding my breath.

  90. Whoever willfully and maliciously engages in a knowing pattern of conduct or series of acts over a period of time directed at a specific person, which seriously alarms that person and would cause a reasonable person to suffer substantial emotional distress, shall be guilty of the crime of criminal harassment and …

That is the mass statute on harassment. Is it reasonable to assume that telling this woman she’s lying to get money is reasonable to suffer mental distress in addition to calling her broke and sending pictures of her family enough to rise to the level of “substantial emotional distress?”
Her lawyer is certainly setting it up that way by sending a letter to the NFL asking them to stop him from threatening and harassing her.

  91. This guy needs some serious help. Since Burfict took his head off in 2016 this guy has not been the same.

  92. Hang on a minuite, the guy maybe an idiot that doesn’t know how to talk to people that does not make him a rapist. He comes across a a jerk ,so everyone jumps to conclusions. What happened to innocent until proven guilty. As soon as someone who acts stupid everyone wants to call them guilty. Ok start ripping me for my opinion. Have a great day

  93. Watch the NFL once again do NOTHING. The product gets worse every year, and I hate to say it, but I can only watch MY team. I used to watch every game I could. Last night was a perfect example. The people running the league are ruining it. Only about 5-6 owners really care about football. Ugh. Guess this means football season has now become more motorcycle riding season. I should be thanking these soulless greedy folks and slime like Brown for putting me in a better place.

  94. It’s funny to see Patriots fans still defending this guy acting like it’s nothing whereas a few weeks ago they were trashing the Raiders for putting up with him. Have no fear though…the Patriots won’t cut him. After all, it’s not like he murdered anyone.

  95. Backjack strikes again! Betcha Roger sends a memo saying “anymore harrassment may result in discipline”. He is the living epitome of a spineless ninny coward. When the history books are written (the ones written in truth) he will be forever known as a coward who ruined the game.

  96. We still don’t know that he committed a serious crime beyond the crime of being stupid and not knowing how to comport yourself toward the accuser when you’re accused of a crime. There is still a chance she is as AB portrays her. His recent post is neither evidence for or against an assault. It may be evidence of violating the conduct policy, and she should not be lobbying for a suspension on THOSE grounds.

  97. Belichick doesn’t want Brown in Cleveland or Kansas City he’ll shut him down for the season if need be. Gruden should have done the NFL a shutdown solid in this particular case.

  98. If she believes this is a crime, please file a police report that the guy you accused responded to your accusation by saying “you’re broke and made up BS about him”. Let’s let the police investigate and if they file charges or get an indictment, AB gets suspended. The Accused have rights, as we’ll as the accusers. I can give you a guess as to who has been more intimidated and harassed in the AB situation and it ain’t the accusers.

  99. Antonio Brown would be broke too if he wasn’t in the NFL and had to work a normal job with normal real-world issues to deal with because I’m pretty confident he wouldn’t be able to function.

  101. Every citizen in this country is presumed innocent pending a trial. That said, this guy staying on the active roster with all of the abberant behavior evident is hard to understand. What I don’t get is the relative silence from the NE media/fan base. I finally saw a critical article in the Globe 2 days ago. I’m getting a moral compass for the NE owner for Christmas.

  102. “We still don’t know that he committed a serious crime beyond the crime of being stupid and not knowing how to comport yourself toward the accuser when you’re accused of a crime. There is still a chance she is as AB portrays her. His recent post is neither evidence for or against an assault. It may be evidence of violating the conduct policy, and she should not be lobbying for a suspension on THOSE grounds.”

No, it was getting tons of hits when he was with the Steelers. You didn’t notice because, in typical Pats homer fashion, you don’t pay attention to anything in professional football that doesn’t have to do with NE.

  118. The NFL has created this monster and perpetuating this behavior by not punishing it. Did he send the texts while sitting on Brady’s couch in Brady’s home?

  119. I wonder how the NFLPA and the media plan to defend AB when he gets suspended for this.
Clearly the plan will be for the NFLPA and the media spin this in order to portray AB as the “victim” while sidestepping the women’s rights activists, and ensuring that somehow Roger Goodell is at fault for everything wrong in the universe.

Dude I’m as big a fan of the Pats as anyone, but no one gets “terrified’ about what’s going to happen on a football field. Its a game. Brown is screwing with people’s real lives in a major way.

He may well not be guilty of rape or the other accusations that Taylor made against him, but he’s a small child trapped in a man’s body and he’s out of control.

Think about this. What do you think Bill told him when he joined the team? Shutup, don’t rock the boat, concentrate on learning the system and playing football, stay off social media with anything but the most bland posts possible if that.

How could any clear thinking individual who wanted to save his multi million dollar a year NFL paycheck within a few days ignore the toughest coach in the league and expect to benefit from it? Brown is nuts. This is going to get far worse unless the Pats cut bait.

anyone who would sit and type the above has their head so far up their tailpipe they can’t see. as everyone knows, there was no coverage of this mook during the end of last season in pittsburgh, nor all offseason as a free agent, nor all preseason in oakland. he only became a topic of interest when he went to new england. and the caps just emphasize the fact you are lost.

and to those saying the group text was not threatening, anyone who sends a picture of my kids to one of their gofers to “investigate” me, i take it as a threat. and so dooes anyone else without their head up their tailpipe.

  131. AB thinks he’s better than Jerry Rice. After 9 seasons, AB has 78TDs. Jerry? He had 118 after 9 seasons. AB is acting out because he’s going to need a big excuse…

  132. I don’t think Brown is smart enough to use intimidation on purpose. I think he’s saying “look at this (woman’s) kids, you know she’s broke”. He’s just too stupid to realize how she would receive it. Why he would include her in the message in the first place shows you how dumb he is. Someone needs to take away his phone, dude is acting like Trump.

He included her in a text string where he told his friends to investigate her and showed everyone on the string a picture of her kids.

    ———————————-

This misinformation always happens when people don’t actually read the texts, yet still comment on them. There was only one person (Ed) referenced to investigate her motivation. And there were only 5 recipients that apparently included Brown’s legal team and the accuser.

Much like the “doctor” in Klemko’s SI articles referenced who falsely claimed Brown passed gas in his face. When the video clearly shows Brown 2-3 feet away with his backside facing the wall nowhere near the man’s face. And Brown saying “sorry” and something about what he recently ate as he made light of it and laughed a little.

Brown it appears is fair game for all attacks, whether truthful or not, all because of his bad behavior while with the Steelers and Raiders.

  134. Try reading The Scarlet Letter for context.

There’s a difference between requiring people to face their accusers in a court of law and mobs piously calling out the actions of others as a sign of their own moral superiority. These threads are, alas, more about the latter.

  135. It saddens me that people like you exist.

I totally agree with but a bigger problem is he isnt the only one! Very team has avid fans which I get , but most are decent people that have values, morals, and ethics. The Pats fan base displayed on here are really pathetic hypocrites and immature spoil brats that have too much invested in their team…..its jst a game you don’t give p your values just to win….or do you?

  136. As a Pats fan, wish they would just cut AB and move on. He hid all this before he signed, its just not worth it. At first he just seemed like another annoying, loopy, me-first diva receiver but now he looks like a bad guy and possible criminal. Let him ruin another locker room and possibly get suspended playing for someone else.

  137. If she blocks or stops the text messages and other things he is doing, the evidence of harassment suffer. Keep it open and let him drowned himself.

  138. Would the Pat’s excellent PR lady just take this guy’s phone and tablet away from him until after the season, please.

  139. It doesnt even seem like hes actually addressing her in the texts. How the F is this harassing / threatening. Seems to me like he was maybe having a convo with his lawyers and was trying to send her contact info to them? Included her by mistake maybe? Who knows, but this is not threatening at all and way overblown. And first thing her side does is call the NFL to report he violated conduct policy? IF YA REALLY FELT THREATENED YOU’D CALL THE POLICE FFS – clearly a buncha BS

  140. Is he really that stupid, or is it possible that someone (possibly the accused even) is just trying to finish him off by “spoofing” text messages?

Spoofing can happen in both email and texting, and what that is is making a message appear to come from someone other than who really sent it. Virtually every spam message via email or text you receive does this. Also, robocalls do this too. It is easy to do, but there is underlying routing information that shows where it really came from. The messages need to be looked at forensically, and then if they really did come from him, well, he is done.

  141. The prevailing thought is that CTE can only be diagnosed when a player has died. I think we are seeing it in a living person. Those that were found to have CTE displayed wierd behavior.

  142. I’m not sure that Brown’s text messages were threatening. It’s disturbing that he showed such poor judgement. Antonio Brown is angry and should not have engaged this second accuser. However the text messages do not prove the veracity of the painter/artist or accuser’s statements on Brown’s behavior as reported in Sports Illustrated. I’m willing to wager that the NFL does not suspend Antonio Brown based on what has been reported. There would have to be more. Brown may not be an ethical or nice person but the statements from the two female accusers have to be proven. Neither has filed police reports or complaints. Rape is a crime of violence. If one is violated filing a police report should happen as soon as possible for many reasons. I understand the civil laws do not require that to always occur but then there has to be numerous questions when money has been discussed.

Notifying the police typically results in the “we can’t do anything because he hasn’t committed a crime. Call back when he knocks you upside the head.” Sort of like the power of Order of Protection…generally not worth the paper it’s typed on.

  145. Let’s all remember this the same league that a couple years ago instantly suspended a guy for allegedly bullying a teammate but in the past few months AB has thrown furniture off his balcony nearly hitting people down by the pool, threatened his GM, and now threatened somebody accusing him of a serious crime. At this rate they’ll find three bodies in his trunk and he’ll STILL play in the next 5 games.

  146. Maybe it’s been said, but as a die-hard but reasonable Pats fan, i hope they are able to cut him first before he goes on exempt list….otherwise i think if is on list first, they have to pay him.

For the original civil suit, I was on the side of letting it play out, still seems like a money-grab, and no criminal charges. Bad precedent to suspend purely on that info…but this is a whole new ballgame….and sadly apparently par for the course with this idiot.

If he only contributes to one win for the Patsies then he’s served Belichick’s purpose. The Pat’s dont care what kind of person you are “just win baby” that’s all that matters. It’s the Patriot way.
    ———————
So you think they could not have beat Miami without him huh?

Seriously, the Pats were already stacked at the position and will still be with or without him. Belichick wasn’t paying him to be on the Patriots so much as he was paying him to not be on one of the opponents he has to worry about. KC had recently lost Hill to IR and even if he is coming back if you add Brown to that mix they have there already thats a problem. Seattle has acknowledged they were after him and its not out of the question that if the Pats make the SB Seattle could be who is there waiting for him. So from BBs perspective if AB goes on the exempt list thats fine, he is not playing for opponents is the important thing. And if he gets suspended even better because then BB gets to have him not be on opposing teams for free.

  148. lol. read the texts. there is nothing here that would get him suspended, other than the fact that he should not have contacted her with all this going on. The previous texts were far far worse and nothing happened. these are relatively minor if you ask me. key word…relatively.

  149. Looking at the texts, the one thing that’s painfully obvious to me is that they were not written by the same moron that wrote the texts in the civil case with the trainer. My assumption is he wrote one of these (likely the civil case ones given how he talks and tweets) but not the ones in this article.

  150. So wait… his threat was accusing her of making accusations in order to get money? A threat is something that promises to deliver a negative consequence for performing (or not performing) an action as demanded. I don’t see anything conditional in the comment, let alone a negative consequence. That is, unless an vague request made to an anonymous person to perform an investigation is a negative consequence. If that’s the case, Brady might want to have a word with NFL brass.

    ——————————–

What specifically do you consider to be a controversy in this instance? That he told her to stop making up stuff about him?

  152. I hate to be cynical here, but after the Tyreek Hill incident, have we not proven that words are not going to take down an NFL player? I mean, the NFL did nothing and the Chiefs gave him $54 million. It is sad, but I think nothing comes from this.

  153. I have absolutely no doubt the Patriots would still have signed him. He played last week didn’t he? The nfl personal conduct code is silly and only extends to what the PR Machine says it does.
