Emmanuel Sanders: Broncos are living in a world of suck

After the Jets lost to the Browns in Week Two, their left tackle Kelvin Beachum said that the team was in “the world of suck.”

They didn’t change addresses with a 30-14 loss to the Patriots on Sunday, but they did welcome some new neighbors from Denver. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders borrowed Beachum’s phrase while discussing how it feels around the 0-3 Broncos after Sunday’s 27-16 loss to the Packers.

“Times are rough around here,” he said, per Nicki Jhabvala of TheAthletic.com. “Obviously the past three years — it’s been tough. Trying to get it right. We sit at 0-3, living in a world of suck. Football is still fun, but it’s not so much fun when you’re losing, especially when you prepare as hard as you can, you go out and have four targets, two catches and 10 yards. But there’s always next week, so I’m optimistic.”

Next week brings a visit from the Jaguars and the next chance to get the first win of Vic Fangio’s head coaching tenure. Should they fall short, they’ll continue to share time with the Jets at the world of suck’s community center.

  1. Not sure Sanders is the one to be making comments like that. Can’t argue that this team is in pretty bad shape do to years of awful drafting by Elway. It’s time for a change at the GM/VP of operations position.

  2. Dear Denver,
Please keep John Elway forever. We love his inability to recognize and draft QB talent.
    Love,
    Chiefs fans

And there it is, “It’s not my fault.”

Elway needs to go, he doesn’t have a clue.

  4. I don’t know… I kind of love the job their GM/VP is handling things….
Maybe the new owner will give him a raise & extend him another 5 or so years…. we all can only hope!!!

Hey Broncos fans- Didn’t we used to be rivals? It’s been too long!

You still have a losing record to the Broncos.

  8. An NFL receiver that knows his statline during an interview immediately following a game. Count me as surprised. The next NFL receiver who wants to be traded? The next NFL receiver to go wacky doodle?

  9. I think that neighborhood is quite full when you throw in the Bengals, Dolphins, Giants, Redskins, Raiders, and Falcons.

  10. Maybe you guys can go knock on Mrs. Mannings door and ask if she still has some of that HgH that Peyton bought for her. It really seemed to help you guys when Peyton was there.

Chiefs have won a Super Bowl as well. They just don’t have any SB wins with an asterisk for cheating the salary cap.

  12. And that’s the beauty of tearing down and starting from the ground floor. Miami is by far the worst team in the league. But look at all these winless schlubs, trying to be relevant.

  13. Maybe instead of worrying about the Chiefs and their 2 super bowl appearances the Broncos might try to at least win the ADC West. Or even beat one of the other teams in it

Edelman was suspended for ped usage last year. Try harder

  15. The Broncos are in a position to be one of the worst football teams this year and especially next year. If they aren’t close to a 0.500 team by the trade deadline, I fully expect Von Miller, Sanders, and Harris to be dealt.

Then all the Broncos will have is Chubb. That will put them in position next year to start Drew Lock with no talent around him. and then they may be in prime position to draft Trevor Lawrence.

Of course, that all depends on Elway not being fired after this season. If the Broncos fire Elway ( i just can’t see that ever happening), then the new GM will draft a QB in 2020 right away. Looks like the Broncos will be a top 5 pick and have a shot at one of the big 3 QB picks.

  16. Yeah Sanders says, especially when you have 4 targets and 2 catches.
When players blame it on everyone else they’re only in the game for themselves. They could care less about the team.
Guys like him and Antiono Brown should start their own team.

  17. Elway, clueless on QB and HC talent…. Dregs Elway.
Can’t imagine why Ravens cut Flacco loose… 🤮.. Elway tries to get Eli Manning in 3,2,1. Par for course.
Fangio, decent guy, way over his head.

Patricia… wins by accident and thinks he’s done something… and doesn’t get why he loses.

  18. I think it clear the Broncos have lost their way. What was a Super Bowl contender a few years back has fallen on hard times. So who is to blame? I believe those hard time started with John Elway coming to power. It’s become Elway’s team in so many aspects. The drafts have been major disappointments. How many time has Elway made coaching changes from HC’s on down? It’s not always coaching who is at fault. Elway finds it hard to blame the himself for what is going on. I think he needs to take a
good, long look at himself and the way he handles business.

  19. Oh wow, we have the Pat’s and Chief’s fans piling on! The Chiefs have not won anything since Betsy the cow gave birth in a field that is now a strip mall. As for the Pats, Denver is the last place you should talking about dominance to as we are used to your messiah spending his visits horizontal when it matters. Do the Patriots have any fans prior to Brady’s arrival? The Broncos have a sell-out streak that makes the Fox faithful look as pathetic as their playoff record at a mile high. Sanders had as much involvement in the game today as my Labrador! John Elway is still fighting the fact that he won nothing until the Broncos were able to dominate the line of scrimmage!

  20. 1st off, Elway built that team that won them that Superbowl. I know, I know, he’s on the “bad” list (along with Bill Polian, John Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin, and anyone who’s ever beaten the Patriots), but comparatively speaking, it’s difficult to find GMs who have a better drafting record than Elway, even while acknowledging the fact that he’s only average at it.

I wouldn’t say that Elway has failed as a GM, but the misses are obvious. His free agency moves have been more successful than his drafts on the whole. I’d say that his hits in player acquisition are many (such as Manning, Ware, Sanders, Chubb, Harris, Lindsay, and Talib), but his misses are also of concern (like the Osweiler fiasco, Keenum, and now possibly Flacco, not to mention Joseph as coach). But even with all of these considered, it is difficult to find GMs currently employed who have a demonstrated better record. I mean, who would say? Some I think we could all accept, like Chris Ballard who has done a fantastic job with Indianapolis the last few years. Some may or may not be up there, like Cleveland’s Dorsey. Everyone already knows about New England of course, but outside of there, it’s hard to name five other GMs who have categorically a better record of hits in the draft that we can point to without any argument.

Denver needs a QB, and that falls on Elway. Denver needs a DT, LT, and MLB, all of which also fall on Elway. But Elway has also given them several other pieces and, up until the last two-three years, delivered winning seasons for them. It’s hard to say that he’s the problem given that he has mostly been successful in running the organization.
