1. Patriots (3-0; last week No. 1): The Patriots now have more regular-season wins in one decade than any other team in NFL history. Until the NFL gives out trophies for that achievement, the Patriots won’t care.

2. Chiefs (3-0; No. 2): With Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs may break New England’s new regular-season wins record in the next decade.

3. Cowboys (3-0; No. 3): At this rate, they’ll clinch the division before Halloween.

4. Rams (3-0; No. 4): They’ve helped cure that Super Bowl hangover with some hair of the Dawg.

5. Packers (3-0; No. 7): After drowning his sorrows in scotch last year, Aaron Rodgers is back to using it as a celebratory beverage.

6. Ravens (2-1; No. 8): They tried to out-Chief the Chiefs, and they failed.

7. Saints (2-1; No. 9): An inevitable future without Drew Brees suddenly doesn’t look quite so dystopian.

8. Vikings (2-1; No. 10): They could have found someone to repeatedly hand the ball to Dalvin Cook for a lot less than $28 million per year.

9. Seahawks (2-1; No. 5): Pete Carroll took a football to the face before the game, and things went downhill from there.

10. Bears (2-1; No. 12): Their foot slipped off the gas pedal after building a 28-0 lead, and a better team would have parlayed that opening into a win.

11. Colts (2-1; No. 13): Could they actually be better without Andrew Luck?

12. Bills (3-0; No. 16): With Tom Brady coming to town, it’s time for the annual run on one specific piece of merchandise at the local adult novelty shops.

13. 49ers (3-0; No. 17): A special season includes plenty of pretty wins and a few ugly ones, too.

14. Texans (2-1; No. 20): Yeah, they mortgaged their future. But they still have plenty of cash on hand right now.

15. Chargers (1-2; No. 11): No team can expect to keep winning three out of every four close games.

16. Jaguars (1-2; No. 21): Jalen Ramsey really was sick. He really was. Really.

17. Titans (1-2; No. 14): The consistent inconsistency of Marcus Mariota continues.

18. Browns (1-2; No. 15): Last year, it was the Vikings; this year, the Browns are the champions of failing to properly reel in outside expectations before the season begins.

19. Lions (2-0-1; No. 22): With the Chiefs coming to town, we’re about to find out how good this team really is.

20. Eagles (1-2; No. 6): My NFC preseason Super Bowl representative has plenty of work to do, starting Thursday night at Lambeau Field.

21. Falcons (1-2; No. 19): At this rate, Matt Ryan will be in 2020 the next former MVP working with an offensive-minded head coach only a few years older than him.

22. Raiders (1-2; No. 23): The autumn wind is another double-digit loss.

23. Steelers (0-3; No. 18): At least the Penguins will start playing again soon.

24. Panthers (1-2; No. 27): Cam Newton will get all the time he needs to get healthy, as long as Kyle Allen keeps playing like this.

25. Giants (1-2; No. 31): On Sunday, Danny Dimes may have the Washington defense dropping another deuce.

26. Broncos (0-3; No. 24): No wins, no sacks, and no real chance to avoid a third straight losing season.

27. Buccaneers (1-2; No. 25): #DelayofGameGate is making Buccaneers’ fans reconsider their position on Bruce Arians.

28. Bengals (0-3; No. 26): The Bengals and Steelers used to play for dominance of the AFC North; they’ll now be playing for exclusive ownership of the basement.

29. Cardinals (0-2-1; No. 28): Againdt the Panthers, the average gain per passing attempt was roughly two Kyler Murrays.

30. Jets (0-3; No. 29): Their extreme confidence seems increasingly misplaced.

31. Washington (0-3; No. 30): If this team ever changes its logo, the new one should be a guy stirring Gatorade with a stack of cups in a clear plastic sleeve.

32. Dolphins (0-3; No. 32): Even when they don’t play all that poorly, they still lose by 25.

  1. Overrate the Bears much? Defense is great but Trubisky and gimmick offense is not….except when playing garbage teams.

  2. STEELER FANS – Still hanging onto the “non-losing” season schtick??? Tomlin teams have underperformed for 6 seasons now. I guess 10 first round draft picks on defense isn’t enough talent. At what point do the coaches take heat or blame. I’m tired of the lack of disciplined, poor tackling, lack of game plan, and awful clock management. It’s like when “plan A” fails, Tomlin has no idea what to do.

  3. Chiefs better start winning soon and often…because this love affair for the team and from their fans is toxic…it’s been a long time since they did anything yet you’re talking about them breaking a record for being the most dominant team in any decade ever…

Slow down….lets see them win 1 first.

  4. Hmmm…. I think the 14 spot drop for the Eagles is a little harsh.

With Nelson Agholor as the “#1” receiver they were in the game till the end.. If they had just one receiver between Jeffery & Jackson they would have beaten the Loins.

  5. As a Niners fan, I know I am biased. But I have no idea how you can have Seattle ranked above SF. They have 2 common opponents and the Niners played better against both. Seattle beat Cincy by 1 at home and the Niners blew them out by 24 on the road. Niners did everything they could to shoot themselves in the foot vs the Steelers and they still beat them by more than Seattle. If I’m not mistaken, Seattle was down to the Saints by a score of 33-14 with 3 minutes left in the 4th and the Saints were playing with a backup QB. Niners also have a better record.

  6. Eagles at 20 is RIDICULOUS!! Could easily be 3-0 if not for all the injuries. Not saying they’re top 10 but to put them at 20 is a joke. Jags, Titans, Browns and Lions all better than them? PLEASE!!!
And the Bears at 10? Granted, their defense looks great but their offense is going nowhere with Trubisky at QB. And without a franchise QB you’re not winning anything in this league.

That Bears sweep still swinging huh? You played AZ and couldn’t bring home the win, you played a banged up SD and Philly team and squeaked by.

Also you got swept by Chase Daniel and Mitch Trubisky HANDEDLY last year and you have the nerve to call out Trubisky after watching Stafford for 11 years with ZERO playoff wins!

LoLions!!!! Get this guy some more salt!

  9. is this a joke? the vikings at 8? This hand the ball of to Cook 50 times a game is not going to work. I can’t believe how people just jump all over the vikings every year.

they will win 7 to 9 games this year.

  10. Knee jerk: You totally dissed MY TEAM. Then I look at who is ahead of them and…ok, that sounds about right.

  11. As a Redskins fan, I think we’re ranked too high. The team has talent but cannot execute and I highly doubt they’ll be able to string together 4 good quarters of football. We might beat Miami, but at the end of the year they’re going to have a lot more to show for losing so many games.

  12. 8. Vikings (2-1; No. 10): They could have found someone to repeatedly hand the ball to Dalvin Cook for a lot less than $28 million per year.
    __________

That’s true, but the alternative was Case Keenum. Did you see his five turnovers last night?

  13. 10. Bears (2-1; No. 12): Their foot slipped off the gas pedal after building a 28-0 lead, and a better team would have parlayed that opening into a win.
    __________

Given that only three teams have ever come back from at least 28 points down in the 100-year history of the NFL, it’s highly unlikely that any team would have parlayed that opening into a win.

  14. Seahawks need to atleast be below the Clara Clowns. I would put Seattle at 18, they should have lost by 20 at home to the Saints but NO went into prevent and let Wilson rack up 250 yards in garbage time. Sean Payton so thoroughly out coached Pete Carroll, it was like a division II college coach against Nick Saban.

  27. Man, the Cowboys love is over the top. They beat the Giants, Redskins and Dolphins, a combined 1-8. I know you can only play who is on your schedule but when it comes to rankings at least think about who they played.

He’s not saying they’ll win more SB’s than the Pats which nobody thinks they will do. It’s regular season wins in a decade. Last six Chiefs seasons: 11-5, 9-7, 11-5, 12-4, 10-6, 12-4. I think they will keep that foot on the gas pedal. And again…Nobody will care if they get this record especially the Chiefs fans.

  29. The Patriots are on pace to win 126 games this decade. I can’t see 12.6 wins per year for ten years being touched by anyone else unless they get rid of the salary cap. Mahones current cap charge is $5 million a year. Soon it will be $40 million.

Dude – you are ragging on the Vikings being number 8 because of HOW they are winning?

Guess you don’t get “Power” rankings.

They DEMOLISHED the Falcons and the Raiders with the running game and defense.

And MIGHT have won the other game if Cousins had not thrown it away.

    1) The ranking is appropriate based on their play .. so far. If they lose, it changes. Get it?
    2) News Flash – Handing the ball of to Cook WILL work as long as they keep blocking for him.

I read what you wrote but that isn’t what I originally meant. My overall point was the Chiefs love affair is insane right now because Mahomes is solid BUT they haven’t won a thing in 50 yrs…before Florio and others start writing stupid things like what Mike wrote in his rankings, the Chiefs should start winning championships and soon, because their hype is far outperforming their seasonal results. Sorry if I didn’t make that clear. Also, I honestly love Mahomes and as a Patriots’ fan I think it’ll be these two again in the CC game but this will come down to defenses and I think Belichick will hold Mahomes to 28-31. I don’t see Kansas City defense holding Brady below 31…hence another close New England victory and Super Bowl berth.

  35. Still saying the Patriots are not #1. They have literally played no one. You can put the Steelers in that mix but I still say no one. They also have the easiest schedule in the league. Again. I put the Chiefs #1

Bottom of that list isn’t even debatable lol

  36. It’ll be interesting to see how the NFC north looks in a couple of weeks. Right now, they all look formidable and the division games should all be tough ones. Its early but to date no NFC north team has been defeated by any team outside the NFC north.

Well, they beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. And who have the Chiefs beaten? The Jags and Raiders, and just squeaked by the Ravens. While the Pats defense hasn’t allowed a single touchdown in three games.

Pats are averaging 35 points per game and allowing 6. Chiefs are averaging 34 points per game and allowing 21.

The Pats are the defending SB champion, they beat the Chiefs and Rams to do it, they’ve demolished every team they’ve played this year, their offense hasn’t missed a beat and their defense looks improved. There is no case for anyone else being #1 right now.

  39. everyone saying that Dallas is too high for winning against the bad teams… so are the pats and they are ranked #1.

    ___________

Washington knew this and refused to pay him a significant long term contract.
Seriously, Barney fans, how does it feel to know your team is far more dumb than Dan Snyder and Co.

  60. The Colts most definitely are not better without Andrew Luck. This is the best roster Indy has had in at least 15 years and they would be a Super Bowl contender with Luck. Brissett has been terrific so far, but this team has been set up to succeed right now thanks to Chris Ballard.

  61. 12. Bills (3-0; No. 16): With Tom Brady coming to town, it’s time for the annual run on one specific piece of merchandise at the local adult novelty shops.
    ——————————————————————————————–
I don’t think this is the year to sleep on the Bills.

    8. Vikings (2-1; No. 10): They could have found someone to repeatedly hand the ball to Dalvin Cook for a lot less than $28 million per year.
    __________

That’s true, but the alternative was Case Keenum. Did you see his five turnovers last night?

    ////

But what could he have been on a better team in year 3?

Cheaper. With probably the same result you have now.

    Or better?

  63. The ENTIRE NFC North only has 2 losses right now, and both of those losses were handed out by the Packers.

    Better football for better people.

    #yourdivisionsucks

  64. The Dolphins were beat by 40+ points by everyone BUT the Cowboys.

    Brady – 20/28 264 yds 2 tds 0 ints

    Lamar Jackson – 17/20 324 yds 5 tds 0 ints
    RGIII – 6/6 55 yds tds 0 ints

    Dak – 19/32 246 yds 2 tds 1 int

Only QB with less yards than Dak was RGIII… but he was only in for garbage time.

I believe Cowboys played AFTER the Dolphins gave up their best DB too.

  65. Imagine how many wins the Patriots would have racked up this decade had they played in the AFC North (see regular season record against Steelers and Ravens) or AFC South (see Colts). They never play well in Miami and the Jets occasionally steal one in New England.

You all seem to forget that three of the league’s most dominant runs are attached to AFC East teams.

The Dolphins under Shula had an incredible run plus the only perfect season.

The Bills appeared in 4 straight Super Bowls.

Most sports writers consider the super bowl won by the Jets to be the most significant sociologically and stylistically (Joe Namath’s guarantee and 60s hair).

  66. Rip on the Vikings all you want, but they haven’t had a HOF level QB play more than two years for them since Tarkenton Over 4 Decades ago!

Just in the last six years, MN has WON games started by these QBs:
    Christian Ponder
    Joe Webb
    Teddy Bridgewater
    Sean Hill
    Sam Bradford
    Case Keenum
    Kirk Cousins

That’s SEVEN different QBs who won a game as a starting QB for MN over the past 6+ seasons! NO other team can say that
And NO ONE on that list was a franchise QB

    Ponder won a division title
Bridgewater won a season-ending, division clinching game IN Green Bay
Keenum orchestrated a comeback “Miracle” Playoff win over the Saints
Cousins finished over .500 with a disaster of an O-Line and absolutely NO running game

Go back throughout their history AFTER Tarkenton:
Won a division title with Tommy Kramer at QB
Made the NFC title game with Wade Wilson
Won a division title with Sean Salisbury/Jim McMahon
Won playoff games with Cunningham, Culpepper
Not exactly a Who’s/who of NFL greats

    So…get snarky all you want
YOUR team is just ONE QB injury away from being sub .500….but MN has proven time and time again it can win without a franchise QB!

  67. The Chiefs need to pay rent for all the space they have inside the Patsie fanbase. You know they fear playing the Chiefs, they troll everything Chiefs. Remember the Patsies got lucky when Ford lined up offsides and then even luckier when they won the coin toss. Patsies know Belichick had no answer for Mahomes the second half and he doesnt have any answers now.

  68. Really — just a snapshot — you think your team deserves better? Just keep winning. Simple-Pimple. Easy-Peasy.

Eagles at 20 is RIDICULOUS!! Could easily be 3-0 if not for all the injuries. Not saying they’re top 10 but to put them at 20 is a joke. Jags, Titans, Browns and Lions all better than them? PLEASE!!!

Coulda. Woulda. Shoulda. The predictable lamentations of the loser. Teams are only as good as the product they put on the field. What might have been doesn’t count.

    ——

I totally agree. Not sure how the Niners are the clowns between these two teams but whatever. It’s really strange seeing a Seahawks fan with a shred of humility. I’m not sure what to do with it. You’re a unicorn in the great PNW.

    23. Steelers (0-3; No. 18): At least the Penguins will start playing again soon.

And the Pens window has slammed shut.

The Penguins have won more Stanley cups since 2009 than the combined Steelers (Super Bowls) and Pirates (World Series) since the 1980 season.

  73. Why is it that the Titans are bad “because” of Mariota but the Buccaneers are not bad because of Winston?
I think the media protects Winston because he is black while destroying Mariota because he isn’t black.

Someone needs to remind indywilson of Lucks propensity to throw interceptions and fumble. He was good but he made some questionable decisions with the ball. Brissett looks good too. Athletic, big, strong and mentally tough. Besides the Colts roster was good enough to get them to the AFCC game a couple years ago. The Colts have had decent rosters for many years. Well, except when they thought it was time to replace Manning and did what they felt best for the organization. You remember. Rhymed with Lucked.

That’s funny, I thought the Pats scored more points than the Chiefs and won the game, then went on to win another Super Bowl. I never see anything in the record books about if this or but that. The NFL is a results league and a W is greater than an L, every single time. Something NE did twice against the vaunted Chiefs last season….WIN! You want to win a game? Don’t do stupid things like line up offsides for one. You want to win a game? Stop them on defense. Excuses are for losers. Some keep a list.

  76. Do all these “power ranking” lists have any meaning or value? Are they useful for gambling or something? If not, why do they exist? It just looks like something fill up whitespace and get clicks between Monday and Thursday.

I could see a list of the top five teams, and maybe the worst three, but I defy ANYONE to show how some team is 22 and better than #23, but there’s no way are they a 21 . . .

  77. LOL at the Chiefs fan. That’s right. Pats fear Mahomes and have no answer for him and got lucky.

They beat him TWICE — even more impressively the second time in Arrowhead. What makes you think history won’t repeat itself a third time? That Patriots D is even better now. And in the SB they beat the team the Chiefs couldn’t beat in the regular season.

Yep, the Patriots and only the Patriots are shaking in their cleats at the idea of a rematch.

The Patriots are on pace to win 126 games this decade. I can’t see 12.6 wins per year for ten years being touched by anyone else unless they get rid of the salary cap.

Ahh the benefits of having cupcake teams in your division for so long.

  79. Fellow suffering and abused Lions Fans: Don’t be offended by the lack of respect shown on almost all forums. Stay down – stay humble -stay engaged. Something good is going to happen in a long NFL season.

  80. I dont get the seahawk homerism.. They shouldve lost to the bumgles at home and then they barely beat pittsburg who by the way the niners shouldve blown out, and then they got beat by the breesless saints AT HOME and they are still in the top 10? buahahaha.
