A suspension is possible for Vontaze Burfict

Ejected from Sunday’s win over the Colts, Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict could, in theory, be suspended on Monday.

It’s standard practice for the league office to review for potential discipline on Monday illegal hits from Sunday. And even though Burfict was sent to the showers prematurely on Sunday, Burfict could be told to stay away from next Sunday’s game against the Bears in London.

Burfict’s history will be a factor in a potential suspension. Last year alone, the league imposed more than $165,000 in fines against Burfict for illegal hits in 2018. Coupled with today’s lowering of the helmet foul again Colts tight end Jack Doyle, Burfict could indeed be suspended.

  1. what he did was a 15 yard penalty no doubt. but we saw the same thing on thursday multiple times and we have seen it many times during the season and NY never called to have the players ejected.

    so why now?

  2. Suspension? Possibly? How about kicking him out of the league before he permanently injures someone.

  3. “Maybe he was just looking to get out of having to go to London…”

I doubt it. London is a great city and a great experience for performers of any kind. I’ve been there many times and love it.

  4. What about Jonathan Allan of the Patriots? He knocked Josh Allen out for the game. I bet nothing happens to him!!

  5. This was clearly intentional. I generally defend players when this stuff happens, but this was way overboard and his history is a factor. Guy was on the ground. Burfict would have flown right over him if Doyle wasn’t getting up. Burfict made it so that he couldn’t hit him anywhere but in the head. Pretty disgusting.

  6. The problem with this one is, someone with a lengthy history of vicious illegal hits clearly targeted a defensive player, it was clearly intentional, and he was smiling and laughing as he left the field. If the NFL is using fines and suspensions to deter this kind of conduct, what will deter Burfict?

For effective deterrence, a minimum 8 game suspension (without pay) might serve as a wake-up call to this ***hat, but then again, even that kind of punishment might not do the trick.

  7. Expulsion, please. Guys get booted for smoking weed but not for trying repeatedly to maim other individuals, like Burfict. He should have been banned after the hit on AB three years ago.

  8. Burfict punched one of our O-Line guys in the spot you don’t want to be punched,…… if ya know what I mean??
A big pile up on a run play, and he just takes a closed fist shot and hit the bullseye.
    The man is crazy.

Because it’s Vontaze Burfict? Were you serious in asking that? The guy’s been a walking cheapshot since he came into the league.

Whether Burfict or fans of whatever team he’s on like it or not, everything he does is going to get scrutinized more than 99.9% of other players because of his history.

His name is Jonathan Jones .It might help your statement if you at least knew the guys name.

  11. If you think that the hit on Allen was vicious you need to stop listening to pats hater Fouts. The pats player just stopped and if you watch without your hater glasses you’ll see that Allen the crown of Allen’s helmet hits the pats player’s helmet in the ear hole. He got stood up by a grown man. Meanwhile they’re throwing Brady to the ground well after the ball is gone and no flags.

  12. He plays the game like it was and has been since leather helmets

Todays NFL is a sad state of bubble wrapped QBs and diva WR

If he gets banned for knowing the 6’5 ” 260 TE and The Tyreeks and Cheungs get to play it says everything wrong about todays Pussified NFL crafted in the Commissioner’s image …

When did the league of Greatness become so freaking soft?
