49ers expect Kyle Juszczyk to miss 4-6 weeks

49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk went for an MRI after hurting his knee on Monday night and the results show he avoided a season-ending injury.

Juszczyk will miss some time before he’s ready to play again, however. The 49ers announced that they expect Juszczyk to miss 4-6 weeks with a sprained MCL.

The injury will rob the 49ers of a regular piece of their offense. Juszczyk played more than half the snaps for the 49ers and played a role as a blocker, receiver and runner at various points in the first four games. He has six catches for 76 yards and one carry for six yards so far this season.

The 49ers don’t have another fullback on their 53-man roster, so they’ll need to do some shuffling to fill his spot in the offense until his knee is well enough for a return to action.

  1. His statistical numbers don’t come close to showing how much the 49ers need him; he’s the straw that stirs the running game. Not sure they will beat LA next week without him

Maybe Jeff Wilson, Jr. can play FB? But he’s no Juice

  2. The offense will be a lot different without him.

I would slide a TE over into the position given the way Shanahan uses it. The 49ers have enough TEs to do it.

  3. In another play, 49er DB Ward went for the kneels on another TE like he did on Gronk (ACL.)

But I am glad Kyle’s season will pick up again in November. He’s kind of a Swiss Army knife RB/TE hybrid.

  4. Didn’t watch last nights game, but did see the highlights.

Juszczyk was popping off the screen, cracking guys at the LOS and second level to spring Breida and Coleman for huge gains on nearly every play it seemed. I think this is a big loss.
