Nick Bosa planted his flag on the Browns Monday, now he has something else to wave around.

The 49ers defensive end was named NFC defensive player of the week, for his outburst in their dominant win over Cleveland.

Bosa had two sacks of college tormernter Baker Mayfield, hit him five times total, forced a fumble and recovered one.

He was part of a swarming front that gave the Browns fits all night, and kept the 49ers undefeated.

  1. Nothing against Nick Bosa but Brandon Graham’s stat line was worthy of NFC Defensive Player honors this week. Guess the people making this decision thought the other 7 Eagles sacks made his 3 sacks seem pedestrian by comparison.

  2. Bose wins defensive player of the week honors….and then he’s on the injury report for week 2…and so it goes with the Bosa boys they are made of glass

  3. The funny thing is that he should of been credited with 3 sacks, as the last play of the first half when they called intentional grounding on Baker was actually a sack.

  5. He had a great game but his quality was never much doubted in my mind, it’s his durability which has always seemed iffy and remains so. I’d limit his reps until Dec for a fit playoff run.

  6. Bosa had a heck of a game against the 49ers, but Orlando Scandrick signed with the Eagles the week before the Jets game, had two sacks, two forced fumbles, recovered one of the fumbles and returned it 44 yards for a TD. I don’t care who you are playing that is a career game and deserves the NFC defensive player of the week award.

  7. I wonder how many other players have been named “Player of the week” after playing the Clowns. Bosa will likely not be the last.

  8. Pundits who picked the 49ers to finish near the midpack or even near the bottom simply failed to see the improvements on the defensive side of the team, something they showcased in the preseason. Added to this year’s team are Bosa, Dee Ford, Kwon Alexander, and rookie Dre Greenlaw. We should call the Frisco D the New Gold Rush. The name was given to the D line of the 80s when they had Dwaine Board, Gary Big Hands Johnson, Louis Kelcher and Fred Dean.
