Mitchell Trubisky throws at Monday’s practice

The Bears had hoped their starting quarterback would return this week after their off week. Mitchell Trubisky returned to practice Monday.

It remains to be seen whether he will return to game action Sunday against the Saints.

“His situation again for us is just seeing exactly where he’s at with pain,” coach Matt Nagy said Monday, via video from the team, “just all of us collaborating exactly to see where he is so we can make a decision as to which way we want to go for this week, if he’s ready or if he’s not ready.”

Trubisky injured his left shoulder in the Week Four game against the Vikings. He began throwing again Monday, and Nagy said Trubisky was not on a pitch count.

“I thought he looked good, but we’ll see as the week goes exactly how he feels and where he’s at,” Nagy said.

Defensive tackle Bilal Nichols (hand), offensive lineman Ted Larsen (knee) and receiver Taylor Gabriel (concussion) also practiced Monday, Nagy said.

Nagy offered no update on defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (elbow), with the Bears still deciding whether Hicks goes on injured reserve.

That’s a good idea! Whatever he has been doing during previous practices wasn’t working.

    …INTERCEPTED!

I don’t get the interception narrative being thrown around as he only thrown two picks this season and he had a pretty decent interception rate last season but, hey whatever floats your boat. Don’t let factual data change your tune.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++

Mitch has trouble making the right read, he isn’t like Stafford or Cutler. Which is a VERY good thing. He doesn’t turn the ball over like those other other turnover machines currently on the Lions and the former Bears QB!

Saints are gonna roll all over the Bears.

    Saints 27
    Bears 9

You should feel confident. We will try to ignore that the badly banged up Bears are getting a lot of players back healthy after a bye and just had two weeks to prepare for the Teddy Bridgewater led Saints at home. Also helps to forget that the Saints have yet to win a game by more than 7 points all season.

  5. How many plays will he make before they tackle him on that left shoulder and take him out.How many errant passes and/or interceptions will he throw ? When are the Bears going to cut bait and run away from this mistake ?

  6. Could the Bears have Watson or Mahomes? Sure, but they don’t. Who cares really, Trubisky isn’t a “mistake” but he ain’t Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees. He’s an average QB that’s young, still learning and is good enough to win with one of the best defenses in the game. This comes down to Nagy’s play calling or Mitch just goes off and takes care of business. Plain and Simple.

    I’m a Cowboy’s fan btw.

    ________

Find the last time the Bears defense gave up 27 points.

I’ll wait. Chicago’s fallen under the radar but the defense is still best in the league.

  8. Saints fans are a bit silly, but they do have a great squad minus Brees. Bridewater will be running for his life and will most likely be doing some of the running after Fuller and Jackson after he throws potential pick sixes.

They gave up 30 or more to the dolphins, giants, and patriots in the past year

Well now, let’s evaluate this a bit further shall we…

Dolphins loss 31-28 100% Cody Parkey’s fault for missing two game winning FG opportunities. No Khalil Mack. 95 degrees and humid in Miami.

Patriots loss 38-31 Mitch Trubisky went toe to toe challenging the Patriots with no Khalil Mack.

Giants loss 30-27 No Mitch Trubisky and Squaon went off. Tough loss for their Back up who shredded the Lions the prior week. Fair enough.

These three games were the Bears only losses last season not including the week one Packer flop. Let’s be real, two games were without the best defender in the game and one was lost to one of the best offenses in the game and Mitch stood out there strong and put up 31 to their 38.

The question was “when was the last time the bears gave up 27 points” oh and “I’ll wait”. You failed.

This is great news for every other team in the NFC North.

You do know he OWNS your team right?

He didn’t ask the question, but merely “elevated” it. So he didn’t fail.

    Pay attention Viking g00f!

  14. The Bears are only cursed with bad decision making by drafting Mitch in the first place. He’s a terrible qb who only looks the part. The Saints don’t even have a good defense and Teddy Bridgewater can’t lead them, hasn’t led them to any real wins (every team they’ve faced has fallen flat except Seattle). The Bears should win this game, but with Mitch throwing to the other team I’d take the Saints!
