Arthur Blank: “I still support” Dan Quinn

Falcons coach Dan Quinn’s job is very much in question, after his team lost a fifth straight game to fall to 1-6.

But his boss doesn’t appear inclined to fire him, at least not immediately.

According to Jeff Schultz of TheAthletic.com, Falcons owner Arthur Blank dismissed speculation that Quinn might be fired Monday, and said “I still support” the coach.

Of course, he could support Quinn in future efforts, because the current ones aren’t going so well.

The Falcons were in disarray beyond the scoreboard, failing to tackle well and looking disorganized against the Rams. It didn’t help that running back Devonta Freeman was ejected for throwing a punch at Aaron Donald, or that quarterback Matt Ryan left in a boot after an ankle injury ended his day.

  1. Said it before. Will say it again. This team has not been the same since blowing the Superbowl. Their heart was ripped out that day. They need to clean house and unfortunately that starts with Quinn. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think Quinn is a bad coach by any means. I just don’t think they will ever get over that loss until they clean house.

  2. See u later Quinn set the franchise back 20 years with the loss at the Superbowl Thank u very much No more dancing on the sidelines in the 3rd quarter Although the Benz is a dope place best chicken strips I have had all for 6 bucks with fries even at the Superbowl figured they would be 20 bucks Everbody was nice in Atlanta even to Pats fans

  3. If he hasn’t figured out yet that Shanahan was the reason the Falcons went to the Super Bowl and not Quinn, I guess he never will.

  4. Perfect timing for him to get fired. He can take over for Saleh after he gets a head coaching job this off-season, and we can continue to run the scheme we have now

  5. William Race is right. That SB still haunts this team. A total tear down, including Quinn, is needed. May as well get started now, no sense waiting.

  6. he took this team to a SB. Most coaches don’t have that on their resume. I would rather go with a proven winner through the rough times, than deal with the next “I was a awesome college coach guy” I don’t think anyone could coach that defence. That being said, I have Matt and Julio, and I’m a Pats fan. I think he should get fired.

Shanahan‘s offense got them to that Super Bowl, Quinn‘s defense lost it. You’re right that that Super Bowl is a big part of Quinn’s resume but not in the way you think

  8. For those of you saying this is happening because of the super bowl loss, they went to the playoffs the next year and beat the Rams. I think hiring Steve Sarkisian and the defense is what set them back.

  9. We thank Dan Quinn for his years of service and wish him the best of luck in his next coaching job, most likely a high school program.

  10. patriots crush and demoralize their defeated championship opponenets for years and years. conversely, when the patriots lose heartbreakers they put it behind them and are right back in the fight. belichick and brady are nothing ever seen before and will never be seen again.

  11. It’s kinda hard to understand what happened to this team,..
They’re in the Super Bowl a couple years ago,… and now they have a real chance of earning the #1 pick in the next draft. That’s a head scratcher for sure.

This has nothing to do with what happened 3+ years ago. Your trying to saying a single game has lead to this disgrace of a season so far? Coaching has been horrific, Julio hasn’t touch the ball half as much as he needs to. Guess that’s cause of a loss 3 years ago. Quinn is a goner, super bowl loss three years ago or not.
