In NFL’s 100th season, Patriots dominating like no team since NFL’s first season

The Patriots’ 33-0 win over the Jets on Monday night was the latest in a series of blowout victories that has the Patriots dominating like no team in the last 99 seasons.

In fact, the 7-0 Patriots have outscored their opponents by 175 points this season. That’s the highest point differential through seven games since the NFL’s first season, in 1920.

As everyone remembers, the 1920 Buffalo All-Americans outscored their first seven opponents by 218 points. That dominant performance in the NFL’s first season remains the best seven-game point differential ever, through the NFL’s 100th season.

The All-Americans started their season by beating West Buffalo 32-6, then beat All-Buffalo 51-0, followed by a blowout of the McKeesport Olympic 28-7. By the time they beat the Columbus Panhandles 43-7 to move to 7-0 on the season, they had outscored their opponents by 218 points.

The bad news for the All-Americans is that in their eighth game, they lost to Jim Thorpe and the Canton Bulldogs. Trying to play that role next week will be Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns. When they take on the Patriots on Sunday, they face a team that has dominated like only one other team in the first 100 seasons of the NFL.

  1. Wait till the Patriots offense gets fixed and back on track. With this defense who can stop them Yes I know they played lousy teams but seriously only 1 passing touchdown in 7 Games is something I never have seen before.

  2. “The All-Americans started their season by beating West Buffalo 32-6, then beat All-Buffalo …”

Now we know where the Canadian Football League got the inspiration for naming more than one team in the same season the “Rough Riders.”

  3. To the salty mountain of hate crying the Pats haven’t played anyone:
    1) The Steelers in wk1 with Big Ben were a pretty good team, as are the 5-1 Bills.
    2) Brady is having to release in record time as his o-line is heavily patched, he’s doing a stellar job of managing it. Ditto the o-line for why the Pats’ run game is sometimes mediocre.
    3) Brady is missing half his weapons – and many of those playing are banged-up too. Last night they started using linebackers on offense and TE Tomlinson signed just 2 days earlier. A healthy Pats would’ve won 66-0 last night.

  4. Look at who they have played. Garbage teams, sans the Bills who were in it until the Patriots took out their QB with a nasty headshot.

I know they don’t make their own schedule, but we also don’t have to act like the one they have is super tough when they are playing teams who aren’t beating anyone.

Frankly Patriots fans should be embarassed the schedule is so soft because it does nothing to help the Patriots image outside of New England

  5. Yes, the Patriots are a good team. But lets not forget an important stat:

Combined record of their opponents so far this season: 11-27. Take away their losses to the Patriots, and those teams are still 11-21.

The only team with a winning record they have played is the Bills, and that was a tough win.

  6. Like I said from week 1 my bold prediction was the Patriots will be double digit favorites in every game this year including the Super Bowl. The Golden State of the NFL

maybe they’ll play someone with some talent before the super bowl…
    —————————————–
You mean like the Ravens, Cowboys, Chiefs and Texans? They are all on the schedule. Notice I didn’t list the Browns

  8. So they’ve played the dead on arrival steelers, without AB or Bell.. Dolphins and Redskins the absolute nadir of the league, vying for who can tank best. Jets twice. Rebuilding Giants. And then the Bills. How many other quality teams wouldn’t go 7-0 against that slate? It’s not even fair. The Patriots are never even in a division that can beat each other up a bit like the AFC North or NFC North, East or West do. It’s just a slaughter every year that lends itself to a playoff birth. There’s an argument to be made to put the Patriots in a stronger division.

Part of being the best team in the league is that every opponent is weaker.

I don’t think anybody is pretending their schedule is tough. It might be worth pointing out that no one team has a SOS of better than .500 at this point in the season. It’s the same story year after year. Pats beat up on easy team and fans point out how easy their schedule is. Only to watch them go outside of their division and beat on those opponents just as much. Only to hear the same mantra when they march into the playoffs and win it all. SOS shouldn’t be dismissed as an invalid point but at some point discounting it might be worth some circumspection.

  13. the Patriots lose sometimes. They’ve lost 3 of 9 superbowls in Belichick ERA. Many times they don’t have the best overall personnel either. And they have faced some quarterbacks as good as Brady.

But no team has a Coach as good as Belichick

it doesn’t matter who they play..You’re missing the point.

So, a shutout this week is 3 points allowed vs Cleveland next week or 7 to Baltimore or 14 to KC.

Explain how this still isn’t really good defense?

I mean, keep moving those goalposts if it makes you feel better!

Maybe Goodell can help you with the officiating some more in the 100Th NFL season, huh?

    LMAO

I’ll take the 1929 undefeated Green Bay Packers (12-0-1). In 13 games they allowed 3 touchdowns, no extra points and 2 safeties.

Is this the helmet era and was the forward pass allowed by then?

    LOL

Anyone comparing a 4 team league in 1929, to a cheating commissioner in a Cap Era trying to slow the Pats down from dominance, has a screw loose.

  16. “Weak schedule,” the latest troll line from the crybabies.

“As everyone remembers, the 1920 Buffalo All-Americans outscored their first seven opponents by 218 points.” Great line. I will never forget that year, as I lost a lot of money betting against the All-Americans. Still sticks in my craw…

    ==================
Vikings 5 wins are from teams at or below .500.

    Fraud indeed.

Irony called he wants his mirror back.

  18. But look who they’ve played. Through 7 games their competition has a total of 12 wins (an average of 1.7 apiece), and 5 of those belong to Buffalo. You’ve got 4 bottom feeders (Miami, Jets twice, Giants, Washington) plus a mediocre Pitt team this year without Ben. So I’ll hold off on the accolades until they face some contenders.

  19. Lots of whining excuse making haters here. The Patriots are the greatest team in NFL history. If you cannot handle the truth maybr you should all just watch Oprah. Crying about divisions are schedules or injuries or Belichick and Brady is just WEAK. Win the game or shut up. Your ceaseless whining only makes you and your teams look WEAK. New England destroys weakness. They are masters of psycholgical warfare. They play mind games with all your excuses and hateful tantrums.

Nothing you can say or any excuse you can make can change the fact they are the greatest Dynasty in NFL History. You cannot beat them in social media. You have to beat them on the field for 60 minutes because the Patriots will bring it every game and play hard for 60 minutes. They are well coached. They work hard. They play hard. Their unselfish players are they type any coach would love to coach. And they are coached by the greatest coach in NFL History and their quarterback is a Legend.

SO save all your whining and excuses for someone who actually cares. The Patriots are only concerned with praparing and practicing hard for their next game. On to Cleveland as the saying goes. They ignore the noise of diva excuse makers. Better bring your AAA game Cleveland. The Dynasty will be waiting.

For the rest of you if all you want to do in whine and cry then the NFL is not for you. There is no crying in football. Making excuses for New England will only get you beat over and over and over. The Patriots are on a quest for a seventh title which will put them over the top. The ranting and whining of raving mad haters will never distract them from “doing their job” On to the Super Bowl.

  21. there is tylawspick6 again with his head in the sand and is Patriot pom poms out. He is the first guy that’s going to be crying when tb12 is gone and the Patriots are back to the way they used to be a five-win team

  22. snowlock2013. right on the money my man I’ve been saying that for years seems to me at the Patriot fans are so confident their team is so great they should be wanting this to happen so they can prove it. But no we all know that will never happen they just keep their head buried in the sand and Will Go On

  23. Patriots fans should be embarrassed by being 7-0 with a soft schedule ? That is so hilarious it must have been thought up by morons. LMFAO

I will set the record straight. There is nothing embarrassing about a DYNASTY. We are very very proud of the New England Patriots and laugh at your weak lame excuses and hatred. Reasons for pride ? How about 6 titles. Greatest coach in NFL history. Greatest quarterback in NFL history. Down 28-3 greatest comeback in history. 8 straight AFC championship games. Historical defense in 2019. Players who work hard practice hard play hard for 60 minutes. 16 straight division titles. Most wins in post season. Best winning percentage. Every time they play they are chasing records. NFL films will immortalize them for generations.

Embarrassed ? Are you out of your minds? Our team is not just one city of fans it is a New England region of fans covering six states. We damn proud.

I think your envy and hatred is rotting your brains.

Oh, this is simple. In all their games, the teams that the Patriots have played have scored on average 13 points per game. So, yeah, it’s pretty easy for the Pats defense to hold those offense’s down. It’s not like the Dolphins are putting up 35 points per game in other games.

  26. Schedule is easy, but they are winning by an average score of 32-7, including the Bills game.

The games aren’t close which is what a good team should do to bad teams

  28. Can only say good about TB and the QB legacy he’ll eventually leave behind. What is sad is that his talent will be tarnished by the Pat’s ownership. Plenty of money to sweep the crime under the rug. Even this blog site is scared to post anything in reference to his actions. Enjoy your coming HOF induction TB, just too bad you had to earn it on the shoe strings of kid exploiters.
