Browns WRs ordered to change shoes at halftime as Broncos lead 17-12

Officials informed Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry their shoes don’t meet NFL uniform regulations, according to a sideline report by Jay Feely of CBS. The Browns receivers will have to change their shoes at halftime if they want to return for the second half.

Beckham is wearing Joker shoes, while Landry’s are golden slippers.

The Browns, though, won’t have to change their brown jerseys despite the Broncos being in orange. It is disconcerting to watch and surely the same for the quarterbacks.

Baker Mayfield is having more problems than Brandon Allen, though.

Allen, making his first career start, has the Broncos out to a 17-12 lead at halftime. He is 7-of-12 for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

Allen’s 133.7 first-half passer rating is the fourth-highest by a Broncos quarterback over the past five seasons, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The only first-half ratings that were higher than Allen’s in that span were Brock Osweiler’s 155.8 at Pittsburgh in Week 15 of 2015, Joe Flacco‘s 145.1 at the Chargers in Week Five this season and Trevor Siemian‘s 140.7 against Dallas in Week Two of 2017.

Mayfield is 16-of-27 for 145 yards.

The Browns settled for field goals on their final four drives of the first half, ending possessions at the Denver 21, 12, 9 and 12.

Austin Seibert has field goals of 39, 30, 27 and 30 yards.

  1. You expect this from a team that is performing well and winning, but from a bad team???

This is why college football is greater than the NFL.

  2. “Well, you can knock me down
    Step in my face
Slander my name all over the place
Well do anything that you want to do
But uh-uh, honey lay off of them shoes”

  3. Apparently, Beckham does things to give him something to complain about. Lamentations about being singled-out to follow. These guys knew they were going to get called on this. I guess Landry is getting caught up with the nonsense.

  4. Why does the NFL have to tell them? Is the coaching staff just turning a blind eye to all the shenanigans? Appears the players are in charge…

  5. If I pulled a stunt like this in HS I”d still be trying to get Coach’s cleat out of my arse.

  6. The circus is in Denver. What a bunch of clowns.

Also, for the life of me, I can’t figure out why they felt the need to go for it on fourth down with 18 minutes left in the game. A field goal would have put you within 2 points of the lead. Instead, you turn the ball over on downs and then let the broncos march down the field and score.

The Browns are definitely super bowl bound this year. They just have to buy tickets to go.

  7. This is why they will never be winners, you would NEVER see that nonsense on the Patriots. A team with players that have a team 1st mentality. Both Landry and OBJ are a sideshow and selfish.
Couple that with Mayfield immaturity and you have yourself a complete disaster.

BB would have known the rules. Not Harbaugh…

Wasn’t aware that Harbaugh was coaching the Browns these days.

  9. So glad NY got rid of this “clown” . It’s all about Odell all the time. Has to have have the spotlight on him at all times. Glad he is someone else’s problem.

  10. Between Mayfield, Beckham and Landry is there any wonder that team is a hot mess? Beckham and Landry are nothing more than lesser versions of AB. Mayfield has had one good game this season–the game after Rex Ryan called him a one-read QB. Since then he’s been terrible. Then you have Kitchen running the team. He should have never let those clowns go on the field like that. The fact he did tells me he has no respect in that locker room. The funny thing is they are tanking….even though they don’t realize it.
