49ers won’t know George Kittle’s status until end of the week

Playing on Monday gives the 49ers have an extra day to wait before making any injury designations for their game against the Seahawks and they’ll take all the time they can get before making a call on tight end George Kittle‘s status.

Kittle isn’t practicing on Wednesday because of what head coach Kyle Shanahan called “things in his knee and ankle.” Those things limited his time on the field during last week’s win over the Cardinals and Shanahan said they’re going to make it hard to know if Kittle can play until much closer to kickoff.

“It’s something on the knee and ankle. He’s got two things in both areas,” Shanahan said. “We know Kittle’s a very tough guy and that’s why he was able to come back in that game, but it’s something that we’re not going to know until the end of the week.”

Kittle has 46 catches for 541 yards and two touchdowns this season. Ross Dwelley and Levine Toilolo are the other 49ers tight ends.

  1. Kittle will play and have a big day against a mediocre Seahawks secondary. There is no way that Kittle sits idle on one of the biggest Monday night showdowns of the year.

  2. I find it funny the 49er fans think this is the biggest game of the year, yet they also think they’re going to destroy the Seahawks….interesting…
As a Seahawks fan, I’ll admit the 49ers are a better TEAM than the Seahawks, well atleast they’re executing at a way higher level as a team. Record has shown that. Regardless of their opponents they’ve proven they’re a legit team. Not trying to discredit them at all.
It’s going to be a helluva game on MNF regardless of the outcome.

  3. I agree with Belgium Hawk above, 9ers think this is the biggest game of the year and us Hawks fans are just happy they are relevant again to hopefully restart the rivalry that diminished after they fell off over the past 5 or so years.

49ers got a squad this year for sure! I can’t wait to watch this game and see how we square up with them for a preview of hopefully a playoff scenario down the road. Hawks have a lot to clean up until that can happen tho, so we’ll see. Good luck 9ers fans, Monday Night should be fun!

  4. TE’s usually tear up Seattle…even the LOB was susceptible to TEs. If Kittle misses this game that would play a big factor. I like Wilson/Carson/Lockett/Metcalf/Gordon better than JimmyG/Breida/Sanders/Pettis/Samuel. If the SF defense is real and not overrated due to their 30th ranked schedule…then this Seattle domination may come to an end. But…I’m leaning towards a tad overrated and Wilson the miracle worker will pull this game out.
