The 49ers still don’t know whether tight end George Kittle will play Monday night in their showdown with the Seahawks.

Kittle remained out of practice Friday with his knee and ankle issues.

He has 46 catches for 541 yards and two touchdowns this season. Ross Dwelley and Levine Toilolo are the other 49ers tight ends, and Toilolo was limited Friday with a groin injury.

Kicker Robbie Gould (quadriceps) also sat out a second consecutive day of practice.

Running back Matt Breida (ankle), defensive end Dee Ford (quad), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (knee), offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey (knee), running back Raheem Mostert (knee), left tackle Joe Staley (fibula) and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon (foot, quad) were limited Friday.

  1. With Juszczyk returning returning it helps the run game tremendously but Kittle’s presence on offense is felt not only for his amazing catches but for his underrated blocking. I’m hoping they’re just being cautious and looking at the bigger picture.

  2. What’s missing, of course from this article is that they have a practice tomorrow as well. They are resting him for Monday. Kittle won’t miss this game.

  3. Clearly he is terrified of the horrible beating that awaits the ‘whiners on MNF. It’s a smart ‘business decision’—save yourself for winnable games, George!

I appreciate the troll attempt. Fact is no one is scared of the mediocre Hawks. Russell is the reason why you’ve win 7 games. But he and the Hawks will be eating their 3rd L of the year.

  5. When I first saw the the hit that Kittle took on his knee I thought “ACL”. Although I was amazed that he returned to the game, I grew concerned when he couldn’t play in the 4th quarter. It wouldn’t surprise me that he would miss a couple of games.

You should be concerned. This game has trap game written all over it. Niners almost lost to the cards in their last game. Clearly the Niners have some nagging injuries that might catch up with them. Seahawks might not be the best team and they can still win.

  7. After having lost 11 straight games to the Seahawks, The 49’rs Won in OT last December. That game was poorly played by both teams with all kinds of unnecessary penalties and errors. I watched it again today just to warm up for this Sunday. I think the upcoming game will be better played, but likely close again. In any case, see everyone here on PFT next Tuesday for all the gloating, bloviating, excusing, and Monday Morning Quarterbacking that will take place.

I’ll be interested in all the side stories, but I’m hoping the Seahawks win. Go Hawks!
