George Kittle doubtful for Monday night vs. Seahawks

To get to 9-0, the 49ers may have to do it without tight end George Kittle.

Kittle officially is doubtful for Monday night’s game against the Seahawks with knee and ankle injuries.

Players listed as doubtful typically don’t play; however, the designation simply means that he’s less than 50-percent likely to play. And it sounds like there’s a chance Kittle will play.

If it was any other player, I’d say he’d be out,” Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Saturday.

Kicker Robbie Gould (quad) also is doubtful for the game. Tackles Joe Staley (leg) and Mike McGlinchey (knee) are both questionable, as is cornerback Akhello Witherspoon (foot, quad).

Not receiving injury designations on the final report are fullback Kyle Juszczyk, running back Matt Breida, running back Raheem Mostert, and defensive lineman Dee Ford. Each were limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Juszczyk, Breida, and Ford fully participated in practice on Saturday.

  1. “Hope he plays so we don’t hear the excuses after this beatdown Wilson is about to put on them.”

So does Kittle play defense now?

Seahawk fans trying to talk smack, funny stuff.

We’re 15-4-1 against the Cardinals and 49ers the last 5 years, and the 49ers needed 15 penalties erasing about 10 big plays to squeak out their only win. We don’t have to “try” to smack talk anybody.

  3. I hope it’s a great game but feel like it’s going to be a one-sided game, advantage 9ers. The Seahawks are barely squeaking by every opponent they’ve faced. 6 of 7 victories have been one possession and 3 of those were less than a field goal, against some pretty bad teams.

#scared…. don’t hate. Nothing wrong with a business decision.

Well you’re either a troll or a Seahawks fan if you think Kittle is scared. Nice try though

  5. ha ha. I was tempted to post a snarky comment on some of the posters, but it won’t make it thru the censors scissors.
I’ll stick to saying – Here’s hoping for a good game and no injuries

Good thing you remember the past. Years the Niners were rebuilding. We’re 9-0 this year. The only win that Seattle has over a team with a winning record this year is the Rams, and the Rams missed a makeable FG as time expired. How about your 1-point win over the Bengals at home this year? How about Tampa Bay? How about being down to the Saints by a score of 33-14 with 3 minutes to go? Cleveland was tough for you, huh?

  7. George Kittle doesn’t play defense but he does usually score points and in order to beat a team you have to score more points than they do.

Your comment doesn’t make any sense. He is just saying that if the Hawks win, 49er fans will claim it was because Kittle wasn’t playing.

I am trying to understand how you did not understand.

    FF people are weird.

  8. I said it before & I’ll repeat it here; the game should be close and I’m looking forward to a hard hitting, competitive contest. Regardless of the outcome, we will check in late Monday night/Tuesday morning to see whose gloating and whose making excuses for their respective teams? I promise to be a good winner/loser if you will be. Go SeaHawks!!

  9. Hawks have a nice shot at the upset if Kittle doesn’t play. TE’s have OWNED the Hawks this season. No Kwon, No Kittle… The game has evened up with those 2 injuries.

With Russell Wilson under center, the Hawks can beat anybody in the NFL. With a conservative and lacking exploitation strategy coach in Pete Carroll, the Hawks can lose to anyone in the NFL, too.

If the turnover margin is +2 for Seattle, they’ll spring the upset. Otherwise, the 9ers will squeak by as the Hawk’s FG kicker stinks, so Seattle will need to go for it plenty on 4th down.

I expect Sherman to get beat on double moves as he’ll be too amped and aggressive to stick it to Pete Carroll that he’ll be “burnt toast”.

2 weeks ago, I figured the 9ers would win by 10 but with injuries to Kwon and no Kittle, it’s more of a toss up game now. 9ers fans don’t realize missing Kwon will open up the screen game to Carson and no Kittle will mean no easy TD romps vs KJ, I’m too slow to cover a TE, Wright.

It won’t be a classic from the 2012-2015 wars, but will be one of the more entertaining MNF games. Glad SF has rebuilt after being down the past few years so we can resume a rivalry that was building.

Easy to rebuild when you’re drafting in the top 10 for 4 straight seasons like the 9ers have and Bosa and Buckner are there.

  10. Pretty simple to determine the outcome of this game if you look at the data for this matchup:
    DVOA 49ers: #1: 36.1 %, Seattle #9: 10.7% Advantage 49ers
    Total defense: 49ers #1, Seattle: #25 Advantage 49ers
Total offense: Seattle #3, SF: #7 Slight advantage Seattle
    Rushing: 49ers # 2, Seattle # 7 Advantage 49ers
    Passing: Seattle : #1, 49ers: #10 Advantage Seattle
    3rd down efficiency: 49ers #2, Seattle #16: Advantage 49ers
    Red Zone efficiency:
Coaching staff: Kyle S, Robert Saleh vs Carroll, Shottenheimer and Norton: Advantage 49ers
    Homefield: SF
    Betting Line: SF -6.5
    Weather: Clear 72 degrees
Gameplan: SF – posses the ball and keep Wilson off the field rely on league’s #1 defense. Seattle: Rely on Wilson’s voodoo magic: Advantage 49ers

    Clear advantage: SF

Rebuilding years? The 49ers barely squeaked out two wins against the Seahawks, when both teams were dominant in the early 2010s. Other games were handled by the hawks by convincing scores and even more convincing on the field. Yes there was 3-4 years that it took 49ers to rebuild and now are loaded. Seahawks reloaded the whole team while staying in contention every year. Weird. Your comments about comparing wins against the same team, well your game against TB was a lot closer than the score indicates, you barely beat Pittsburgh just like Seattle. You barely beat the worst most dysfunctional franchise in the league, and almost lost to the Cardinals. Monday night will be a classic showdown, not saying the Seahawks should win but it’s going to be a lot closer than most 49er fans expect. Every game Seahawks play is close, win or lose.
