Dee Ford unlikely to play Sunday night

49ers defensive end Dee Ford strained his right hamstring against the Cardinals and is unlikely to play Sunday night against the Packers, Matt Maiocco of NBCSportsBayArea.com reports.

Ford, who had no stats Sunday in 21 snaps, ranks third on the team with 6.5 sacks.

“Any time you have a hamstring strain, there is concern it could be a couple of weeks,” coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday.

The 49ers hope tight end George Kittle can return this week. Kittle has missed two games with knee and ankle issues.

“I know it was enough to keep most people out for some time, which is has for George,” Shanahan said. “He’s missed two games now, and I know it will go down to the wire again this week. But hoping this week will be different.”

Running back Matt Breida (ankle) and kicker Robbie Gould (right quadriceps) are uncertain for practice Wednesday, Shanahan said. Gould has missed two games, while Breida sat out Sunday’s game.

The practice availability for receivers Emmanuel Sanders (ribs) and Deebo Samuel (shoulder) on Wednesday also remains up in the air.

  1. Won’t matter, 49ers only have 1 win against a team with a winning record. Their quality win is against a bad Rams team.

    Packers roll on Sunday!

  2. Imagine that, the packers get a break again. Sure seems like an important player is always hurt when the packers have to face them.
Vs Cowboys missing their All Pro Tackle Tyron Smith
Vs Chiefs missing multiple stars in QB Patrick Mahomes, OT Eric Fisher, DE Frank Clark, DT Chris Jones
Vs Vikings CB Mike Hughes, CB Mackensie Alexander

Aaron Rodgers catches a break again!!!

  3. Be ready for the excuses Packers fans. These 49er fans are fickle.

    – it’s the referees fault
    – its the holding on offensive line
    – injuries to players
    – or players not fully healthy
    – WRs cant catch
    – the opposing coach has somehow cheated them with his excessive gum chewing

The blueprint is out there. Load the box, force Little Jim to throw and run the ball on the wide 9, heck the 3 wins cards almost did it.

  4. I was pleased to see that all 53 players on the Packers roster practiced on Monday.

The Pack have had several vital players miss time this season, and have a few on IR, but to be relatively healthy at this point in the season is very much a positive for the stretch run.

Many are not giving the Pack a chance on the road against the Niners and the team will use that as extra motivation.

I like the Packers chances in Santa Clara. These are two coaching staffs that know eachother very well and are similar in many ways. Should be a good one.👍

    #GoPackGo!🏈

You just described the Viking’s trolls!!!

  6. My Vikings have had to play every team at full strength all year. The only reason we lost to the Chiefs is because of Mahomes. The only reason we lost to the Bears was Trubisky. The only reason we lost to the Packers was because of Reggie White.

Plus in all three of those losses, we didn’t have Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, Harrison Smith, Anthony Barr, or any of our normal starting cornerbacks.

  7. The #3 seed looks like they will need to face an 11+ win team. So big game.
LaFleur had two weeks to devise a way to exploit that SF D. Let’s see what he’s got.
