Antonio Brown is hoping for a decision “very soon”

Lost in the Myles Garrett and Colin Kaepernick sagas of last week was the fact that Antonio Brown had his interview with the NFL last Thursday in South Florida.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Brown remains hopeful that a decision will come “very soon.” There’s a sense of optimism from Brown’s perspective that he will be cleared to return to the NFL before the 2019 regular season ends.

Brown, who is a free agent, can sign with any team at any time. He would provide a huge lift to a team that is headed for the playoffs or competing for a playoff berth.

The Seahawks reportedly have flirted with the notion of signing Brown. He would be a compelling addition to every likely playoff team (except the Raiders), giving someone a chance to put a thumb on the scale as the NFL’s 100th season moves toward a crescendo.

Coincidentally (or not), Brown posted an apology on social media today to the Patriots and team owner Robert Kraft. Quarterback Tom Brady reportedly was miffed when Brown was cut, and Brady could be happy to see Brown return for the final weeks of the season.

Given the potential benefit of having Brown — and of keeping him from a competitor — a land rush for his services could be sparked if/when he’s cleared. Put simply, it will be much better to have Brown on the roster in December and/or January than to have to face him.

  1. Well the league randomly shoved Kaepernick down our throats (what was up with that?!) so it wouldn’t surprise me if they brought Antonio Brown back into the clown show called the NFL.

  2. Cardinals on a bye week, NFL has booked AB’s tryout at the Cards facility. They will send AB the standard NFL tryout waiver tomorrow. 30 teams have agreed to send a scout. Steelers and Raiders sent a “maybe, but go ahead and start without us.”

Him and Kaperneck need to be told to go away and don’t come back
    ———————————
I also wish they would go away but the difference between AB and CK is that AB is a HOF caliber WR. CK is not now and never has been the player AB is. AB will easily find a team.

  4. What kind of person compares a guy who knelt during the anthem to one accused of sexual assault by at least 2 women? Pretty messed up.

  5. With his talent, I can see plenty of teams ready to sign him if he’s cleared by the NFL. The allegation against him is pretty thin considering the person found out they weren’t going to get a 2 million dollar investment and suddenly decided to sue for that money. Teams are just waiting for some guidance from the commish.

  6. I hope he goes back to NE just to see all the FRAUDS on PFT heads explode

He know how we know they are all FRAUDS?

Calais Campbell from the jags had TWO different females file sexual assault cases against him in civil court and no one said a word and he didn’t miss any games.

So the FAKE holier than thou crybabies on PFT are only doing because they know he would make NE better.
    Yes!! That’s the truth.

Go pull up the articles on Campbell, you won’t see any of the FAKE outrage that you would see if NE took him back IF he’s cleared

  7. So could some of you Kaepernick haters(stephen a “loud know nothing” smith) haters explain to me how Kaepernick is rightfully out of the league while selfish, annoying & toxic Brown & dangerous, penalty machine Garrett are okay to be in the NFL?

  8. When he texted his second accuser while on the Pats (who, no doubt, told him to not do anything stupid) he was sending in his resignation letter. The guy needs mental-health counselling before anything else.

  9. He’s a bad person, but I’m a hooah for Lombardis. Obviously his agent wrote the tweet. Don’t care. I want to watch the Brown/Brady show

  10. All you need to do Antonio is to make an appearance at Joel Osteen’s Church. All will be forgotten and forgiveness will follow..!!

  11. It really depends on which team wants AB and if it is one of Roger’s preferred teams. AB has done no worse than convicted woman beater Tyreek and he got nothing because Roger is giving preferential treatment to help KC, Jerry try get rid of Roger so Zeke got 6 games for what looks like a lot of made up stuff. Rams, KC, 49ers and Eagles sure could use some receiver help.

  12. If Brown signed with the Ravens, most of the moral outrage on these social media threads would suddenly disappear. Most folks would reverse course, since signing Brown would increase Baltimore’s chances to eliminate the Patriots in the post-season. But if the Patriots (re)sign him…

  13. AB has really done nothing wrong so he should be cleared until something tangible is proven. You may not like his behavior but the innocent until proven guilty standard must prevail.

    You are 100% correct

    ====================
I think you are confused. Calais Campbell has never been accused of assault, at least so far as I can determine. A teammate of his, Marcell Dareus, was sued for sexual assault by 2 women. Both were dismissed by a judge, though one was later refiled.

I think maybe you owe Mr. Campbell an apology

  16. The owners do have their limits on accepting bad behavior. Disrespecting the flag and assaulting women sounds about right given who else they’ve signed.

  17. another prediction of mine after he was cut by the patriots was that Tommy would basically beg Kraft to forgive AB IF their offense was in trouble and Josh Gordon inevitably would not finish the season with the patriots for whatever reason.

I predict Kraft wants to win a superbowl more than anything and will cave. I also think Kraft knows that if he doesn’t give in to allow AB to come back, then Brady will NOT return next season to the patriots. Tommy is putting this team on notice: Give me weapons or I will play against you next year.

I fully expect Brady and AB, and possibly Gronk, to all be on the same team next year. They’ll all have their pick of the litter. Coincidence? I think NOT!

Do the chargers get rid of Rivers and fire their headcoach…only to be replaced by Brady and Josh McDaniels…with the perrrtyyyy new stadium needing butts in the seats.

    I’m good. I know.

  18. Has he decided to play in the XFL with Kaepernick?
Or has he decided to settle all his lawsuits and drop his grievances?
I don’t think there are too many other decisions he can make.

  19. Does anyone believe for a second that AB wrote this apology? No way. Look at one of his crazy messages. He doesn’t know how to use punctuation and all of his attempts at writing a sentence fail miserably. The apology is too easy to read. I’m going to go out on a limb and say his agent wrote it.

  20. His apology is an attempt to either get his job back with the Pats, or to wangle that money away from them that he feels they owe him.
Something tells me he’s not going to get anything.

It is quite simple, Brown and Garrett have talent, Kap does not. Any other obvious questions?

    Go Hawks!

  22. Like it or not, Belichick knows his receivers aren’t creating another separation on the field. Brady wants him back and deep down, so does Belichick. Both are all about winning championships. Gronk is not returning this season, so why not bring back Brown for the playoffs?

  23. I think that, even on the off-chance that he signed with somebody, he would probably then be placed on the NFL’s exempt list for his off-the-field stuff (including the threatening messages to his accusers that finally forced the most unethical, zero-integrity team in league history to release him).

  24. Can the NFL pleases stop screwing up what was once a good game. The type players should be long gone

  25. Buffalo Bills, this is how Brown will accept that 1 year offer. Give the guy 2M to finish out the season, what do we have to lose?

We’re not expected to win anything, in fact I bet most people still think the Bills won’t even make the playoffs.

If Brown becomes an issue, the media will chalk it up to more Buffalo being Buffalo….. but if it works and we can make a run, it could change the entire perception of the franchise. Right now, we have a Defense… but Allen, Brown and Singletary won’t be enough against the Chiefs, Pats or Ravens alone on offense.

  26. The NFL is so much more interesting as a soap opera…

Bring him back.. it makes the NFL MUCH more entertaining. I bet he implodes AFTER winning a Super Bowl! And that will provide us “entertainment” plus something to talk/write about in the off season.

Lets face it – the public just wants to be entertained – and Brown is the closest thing to “the Joker” we know in real life!

Which of those will you see on the field this Sunday, or next, or…

  28. As much of a PITA the guy is, he’s an amazing player. If (and that’s a big if) the League gives the go-ahead, he’ll have multiple suitors. And he will pick a team that he thinks can get him a ring–this year. Of course that’s why he had Drew Rosenhaus write that apology tweet for him, and why he’s been fairly silent on social media for the last few weeks.

Any team that signs him will require him to agree to stay off social media completely for the remainder of the season and postseason, and he will be signing a contract that makes sure he forfeits pay if there are any new incidents.

But aren’t we getting ahead of ourselves? Do we have any reason to think Goodell will give the go-ahead? I can see his looking at AB’s unemployment for the last several weeks as a form of suspension, which he might feel is sufficient punishment for the intimidation tweets. But what about the sexual assault claim? Has the League done any investigation other than interviewing the claimant and AB? I suppose they might view that as enough; they half-ass most of their investigations anyway. So I guess I can see a way that the League gives the A-OK, but I haven’t seen anything concrete to indicate that’s coming.

  29. Tomlin is the only guy ever able to coach him. Steelers down to their practice squad receivers with juju and diontae injured.

Can’t rely on the running game with Conner injured.

    Just saying.

  30. I have stated when all the really bad news came out on Antonio Brown; He may not be a great person but he was prey for an opportunist and his guilt in the rape claim was questionable. The Patriots need Antonio to win another Super Bowl this season and I would bet that he will be a New England Patriot very soon.

  31. I’m just picturing Antonio Brown uniting with his relative, Marquise Brown… to really stick it to the Steelers. As much as I thought Miles Boykin would turn out to be productive, it looks less and less likely each week. The Ravens certainly don’t need a superstar on the other side of Hollywood, but it sure would add even more intrigue and flare to this offense. Who would’ve thought the Ravens would EVER be an offensive team? You don’t have to be a fan to admit they are pretty fun to watch.

  32. AB has missed a lot of playing/conditioning. There isn’t a ton of time to absorb the play book and establish chemistry. He tends to freelance his routes a bit which is bad juju in NE and could lead to untimely turnovers. The game in Miami showed a bit of that….AB zigging vs zagging, but he was still new. If he could check his ego and button his lips, and stay off social media, it could work because he needs to be doubled, but that’s a huge IF….

  33. Brown doesn’t deserved playing again. He thought he was too big for the league. Now he’s crying to get back in it. Go away, dude. You had your chance to be a legend and you blew it.

  34. Hasn’t done anything???
His behavior to blow himself off of two teams while under contract and then burning the Patriots is more than enough to keep him out of the league.
NFL doesn’t need his kind of crap.

  35. Why does his apology need to be made public through social media, oh that’s right because it isn’t genuine. If this was really AB’s sincere intention he would have called up Mr. Kraft or met him in person face to face to apologize. This is nothing but PR propaganda.
