Eagles gave Dolphins “exactly what we planned for” on fake FG

The Dolphins pulled off one of Sunday’s top plays when they opted to try for a touchdown with their field goal unit in the second quarter of the game.

Miami lined up with center Daniel Kilgore and punter/holder Matt Haack in the middle of the field with the other nine players split out wide to either side. Haack took the snap, pump faked and then hit kicker Jason Sanders for a touchdown catch.

Haack said after the game that it was awesome to get a chance to run the play and that the Eagles “gave us exactly what we planned for” in terms of a defensive look.

“It was all based on what they were going to do,” Sanders said, via the Palm Beach Post. “We are just banking on them doing this, so we can do that. Matt did a good job, he held on to the ball for as long as he could, and once I got off, he dumped it off and I let it come in.”

Sanders is the first player who primarily kicks to catch a touchdown pass since Jim Turner did it in 1977.

  1. This game for me shows me that the Eagles need to sign Jordan Howard to an extension. Miles Sanders has quickness and speed but no power where Howard has the power to run inside and wear defenses down and eat up the clock.

  2. Pretty bad that a team that’s trying to lose is saying they knew they are better than you and prove it. Something tells me the Eagles don’t care either. They got their money.

  3. Now both Belichick and Flores were able to ram down Eagles throats specials of their own. Both plays made the difference in those ball games and together those losses put the Eagles postaeason hopes in dire jeopardy

  4. All the Eagles had to do was win this week and they’d have been even with the Cowboys but the lost to the Phins, WOW!

Good thing Super Wentz already signed that huge contract because he’d never get it the way he’s playing this season!

They lost to the Dolphins, UNBELIEVABLE! And I thought the Jets losing to the Bengals was the worst loss of the day until I saw this.

  5. Eagles are complete garbage. They’ve embarrassed an entire city and fan base. I am absolutely ashamed to admit being a fan. Now, if someone asks if I’m a fan, I’ll lie. No way I’m admitting to that. Probably one of the top three worst eagles teams in history. Everyone needs to be fired.

  6. Youve got to hand it to the Fins/Flores…
They may be rebuilding, but that entire team “brings it” 100% each week.

And Flores is making them an entertaining team to watch.

You must be very young to think this team is one of the top three worst Eagles teams. There was time when special teams players were announced instead of the offensive/defensive starters to cut down on the boos.

  8. Why didn’t the eagles call a time out when the dolphins lined up in that formation They had timeouts left Another dumb decision by the coach
