Texans lead 14-3 at halftime over Patriots

The Patriots don’t necessarily have tight ends to throw to.

The Texans do, and they’re taking advantage.

Deshaun Watson hit tight end Darren Fells for the touchdown to move their lead to the Patriots to 14-3 in the second quarter.

He also mixed in a 19-yard pass to third tight end Jordan Akins, as he’s running a diverse passing game (on a night when the DeAndre HopkinsStephon Gilmore matchup is getting so much attention).

Meanwhile, the Patriots are continuing to frustrate Tom Brady on offense. He hasn’t been sharp, but it underscores the reality of the season — that he doesn’t have much help in the passing game. Without security blanket Rob Gronkowski, this has been a harder climb this year, and Brady will have to adjust in the second half to make this one a game.

Brady was an unspectacular 7-of-19 for 82 yards with an interception at halftime, and is clearly not thrilled with what he’s seeing.

  1. Typical Brady fashion..throw it up long a few times before half to look for that cheap PI call
BB will adjust and this will be a game in the end half for sure.

  2. Keep making excuses for Brady with your false narratives.

Now after almost a year of Nick Caserio going to the Texans a story comes out that the Texans are keeping their current structure. That’s after Guerrero and Belichick don’t get along has been proven false by Belichick and Guerrero.

  3. They have pointed to every reason the Patriots offense looks so horrible besides saying Tom Brady is in major decline. The Texans defensive coordinator has a great game plan.

  4. Brady can self sack, no need to hit him. The refs need to start throwing flags as these hits pile up.

  5. So everyone’s GOAT only looks normal without all the talent around him. Why is this concept so hard for fans to understand?? It’s a Team game.

  6. This is Tom’s final year that isn’t a rumor folks, but he should have ended it on top last year you don’t get a lot of chances to go out like that, so when it’s there you should grab it otherwise you leave like Tom’s gonna leave – With a final loss in the playoffs wondering what went wrong when you could have walked off while you were at the top of the mountain

  7. Sanu has been a disappointment. They gave away Gordon and Bell and paid a 2nd to Atlanta to get him.

That was a big drop by him, despite the uncalled PI.

If I’m Belichick I seriously consider putting Stidham in

    Bandwagon

  9. hey Kraft
either bench Brady or get him some receivers
    this is a joke
what an embarrassing end to a great career

  10. This team wearing stripes is trying really hard to get the Patriots back in the game hahaha
    This is laughable

Oh now it’s a team game? Patriot fans had us believing Tom won all those Super Bowls all by himself lol

He can always just keep throwing it away as they never call intentional grounding on him…. I guess though in his defense he is passing so crappy this year they never know if it is a bad pass or intentional…

  13. Just maybe Cris and Al will get off the tip of TB and BB and five some props to the Texans.
    These guys are so impartial.
This will still be a game and come down to the last drive of the game. Between TB and BB and the team wearing stripes it is far from over.

  14. The changing of the guard has taken place. Ravens will be #1 seed and this Pats team has serious flaws. No receiver talent aside from Edelman, weak o line, and his year, TB12 is not playing at the level he normally has in past.
Ravens then Chiefs are the teams to beat.
That being said, it will be hard to bet against the Patriots in the playoffs. But I see little chance in Balto with their current personnel.

  15. Brady is reminding me of Peyton Manning circa late season 2014.

New England will still get a first round bye, though. They are not done yet!

Not only have they pointed but they have SHOWED you

Brady is NOT the issue, he is not in “major decline”

They are double teaming JE and no one else is getting open.

How many times do they have to show you?

  17. crickets from all those Patriots fans. Absolute crickets. You’re enjoying watching the worst offense in all of football. Hope you enjoyed your farcical run cuz it’s over. Over!

    Lame

  19. I honestly can not wait to see BB presser, he is a genius and the best coach ever and his press conferences are the best ever.
Win or loss he is the same stoic face and answers. I wish he was my HC

  20. I never in a million years thought I would see the zebras go against Tommy Boy and throw a game for the Patriots opponents yet here we are. These refs are doing everything in their power to hand the Texans this game and bail out I.R. Watson. Unbelievable.

  21. The Patriots domination of the NFL has the haters calling a QB who will be, at worst, 10-2 at the end of the day and in line to get a first round bye, done.

Patriots fans appreciate our team and QB win or lose.

  22. Tough watching the G.O.A.T be a goat. For years we’ve had to hear how Tom makes everybody around him better and they can win with anybody on the team. Fact of the matter is Tom looks old. He falls down like Eli, and throws more intentional grounding balls that somehow never get called. Julian Edelman looks for a flag after every play or worse looks like he’s been shot after every play.

Hey great coaches and great team for a long time. This defense is very good but clearly not great, and the offense is embarrassingly poor.

  23. 10-2…what? That 10 isn’t anything to be proud of Re-revren10. Jets, Dolphins, Washington, Giants, Browns, Eagles ect ect ect. Not only are the Pat’s in the AFC east, but there are NFC teams mixed in there too. The Pats got overrun by the Ravens, in the process of getting their tails handed to them by the Texans, and then they have a date with KC coming up next week. Hell, some could say NE got lucky by slipping by Buffalo the first time, but guess who will be visiting you on the 21st with a score to settle. The Pats are going to be a playoff team, true, but if you think you will be in the superbowl this year, sorry, you won’t be there unless you buy tickets and you’re screwed without home field advantage. Hide behind that 10 and 2 delusion all you want, whatever makes you feel better.

  24. 10-2 is nice, but if you think its the same old Pats, you are delusional. By faaaaar the worst Pats O Ive ever seen with Brady. Brady looks inaccurate, scared, pouty, and well, old. He is done and this didnt start tonight. This has been happening all season

  25. Absent the Bills winning out, which requires wins against the Ravens and Pats, the Pats will have a 1st round bye and playing at home against every AFC team but the Ravens in the playoffs.

I wouldn’t count the Patriots out.

  26. If you think Tom isn’t declining you’d better go back and look at the “long balls” he threw tonight. 40 yards looked like a struggle. And the out patterns were late if they were more than 15 yards.

The late out pattern is a sure fire sign. It doesn’t mean he can’t win, but they aren’t going anywhere with this offense. I don’t care who you play at home, you still have to score points.
