This year’s NFC East is one of the worst divisions in NFL history

The NFC East went 1-3 this week, and that’s par for the course for a division that isn’t just the worst in the NFL this season, but one of the worst in NFL history.

Right now, the NFC East has a cumulative record of 16-32, for a .333 winning percentage. Here’s how the NFC East standings look:

Dallas 6-6
Philadelphia 5-7
Washington 3-9
N.Y. Giants 2-10

That .333 winning percentage is worse than the worst division ever, the 2008 NFC West, which had a cumulative record of 22-42, a .344 winning percentage. That year the Cardinals won the division at 9-7, the 49ers were 7-9, the Seahawks were 4-12 and the Rams were 2-14.

However, this year’s NFC East has to get better because there are six more games within the division this season. Someone has to win those six games, so the worst the NFC East can finish is 22-42, a tie with the 2008 NFC West.

The most amazing thing about this year’s NFC East is that Washington, at 3-9, is still not out of contention. There’s still a chance that Washington could finish 7-9 while Dallas and Philadelphia both go 6-10 and the Giants are even worse, and we could see a playoff game in Washington in January. Not likely. But possible. Thanks to a brutally bad NFC East.

  1. Not going to dispute it after that Miami game. No team from that division deserves to make the playoffs.

  2. The Cardinals were also less than a minute from winning the Bowl that season.

So the “worst” division crown… doesnt mean a whole heckuva lot

  3. That division is mess from top to bottom. The east needs 4 new head coaches for starters and maybe 1 or 2 GMs sprinkled in.

  4. Are you suggesting that these teams aren’t capable of tying when playing head to head and finishing worse than 2008 West? It’s unlikely, but nothing would surprise me with this level of pathetic.

  5. If Washington can hide their pathetic starting QB, Haskins-Robbins, who manages to throw different flavored interceptions when he is pressed into actually doing more than handing the ball off to a running back, Washington has a chance.

Over at Dallas, their fake QB is now trying to fully impersonate a real QB and has demonstrated that when he doesn’t run, he doesn’t win.

In Philthydelphia, their starting QB could possibly the dumbest athlete to ever play professional sports and has demonstrated that he is a natural borne loser with more excuses for his malfeasance than wins.

In New York, that is barely a real football team.

I don’t know if it’s “better” or “worse”, but with the NFC East it’s possible those six games could all end in a tie.

    16 – 36 – 6 is a very real possibility.

It might be fitting to see a 6 win team win the division…

  7. I’m a realistic cowboys fan and I JUST saw another cowboys fan post “The superbowl is going to be the Ravens and Cowboys”……..LMAO ……yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no.

  8. Giants are in disarray, Redskins are too dysfunctional to ever be good, and the Cowboys slipping this year playing a first place schedule isn’t a real surprise. But the team that is a real head-scratcher is the Eagles. This SHOULD have been their bounce back year after taking a break last season after winning the Super Bowl. But they are a total mess. Some games the offense is non-existent, some games it’s the defense, some games nobody shows up on either side of the ball.

  9. The Eagles are going to win their last 4 games and clinch the NFC East:

    2019
    1. Philadelphia 9-7
    2. Dallas 7-9
    3. Washington 4-12
    4. New York 2-14

  10. The Seahawks won the 2010 NFC West with a 7-9 record. Maybe there wasn’t a 2-win team at the bottom of the division to drag down the overall winning percentage, but it’s pretty bad when every team has a losing record.

  11. The winner of the division this year should be allowed to defer the playoffs to another year when they suck less……….

  12. What’s wrong with Jeffrey Lurie in Philly? There’s never been any probs with him at all and he seems to be a genuinely nice guy. It’s the other clown owners in the division that are enough to give anybody nightmares. Mara, Jones, and Snyder?

I mean, I hate the Cowboys but Snyder gives me the creeps. Especially with what they did with essentially pressuring the cheerleaders to go on a private vacation with major bigwigs.

    That’s some sick sh!t.

  13. This entire division is an accident waiting to happen. The Redskins are relegated to being trash forever as long as Bruce Allen is in the picture. The Giants have an inept GM and front office. Philly for some reason forgot to invest in their secondary properly and Wentz isn’t who people thought he was. Dallas was never as good as people thought. Everyone was going crazy the first 6 weeks when they did not play anyone. Now they are playing winners and are getting smacked.
