Linebacker C.J. Mosley has not played since Week Seven. The Jets finally placed him on injured reserve with four games remaining.

They made the move to open a roster spot after claiming safety Bennett Jackson off waivers from the Ravens.

Mosley injured his groin in the season opener against the Bills and returned to action in Week Seven. But he aggravated his injury against the Patriots and now finishes his season having played 114 defensive snaps and seven special teams snaps in two games.

He made 12 tackles, one quarterback hit, two pass breakups and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Mosley, a four-time Pro Bowler, has 588 tackles, 8.5 sacks and 37 pass defenses in his six-year career.

The Jets claimed Jackson on Sept. 1 but waived him two weeks later. He then joined the team’s practice squad.

The Ravens signed Jackson to their active roster Oct. 15.

Jackson made his NFL debut this season and played four games for Baltimore while making five tackles.

The Giants made him a sixth-round pick in 2014.

  1. I know the trolls are going to come here to talk about this signing, but the fact of the matter is that Mosley was a difference maker on Defense when he was in there. It’s undeniable; you don’t need to look further than his first and only healthy half of football in the season opener where he had one QB hit and a pick six. That was with the Jets other starting MLB out for the season in Williamson, no virtually no cornerbacks. The Jets have done a good job maintaining the top Rush Defense with patchwork at the linebacking position and cornerbacks who should be playing in the XFL. This defense is going to be scary next season.

Absolutely correct. The trolls are what they are, trolls. Nothing more. Mosley missed 3 games in 5 years before this season, so this injury is an aberration.

  3. All that $ for not even one full game. I’m not blasting the contract. I am blasting the Jets medical and conditioning staff. Jets players seem to get injured and reinjured at higher rates.
