The Seahawks extended their run of games with at least 100 rushing yards to 11 on Monday night by putting up 218 yards on the ground in a 37-30 win over the Vikings.

That’s the most rushing yards in a game for Seattle this season and both of their top running backs had a big hand in the big day. Chris Carson ran 23 times for 102 yards and a touchdown while Rashaad Penny had 74 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

After the game, head coach Pete Carroll said at his press conference that is is “so much fun to see those two guys battling it out.” Carroll also said that the team isn’t going into games with a clear sense of who will get more work because of how well both backs have been playing.

“You guys keep asking me, but there’s no plan on this one,” Carroll said. “They’re just playing. And when we see how the game goes, we might give a guy a few more here or a few more there. We don’t know, because they’re both really good. We love them and we just play them. Chris is the starter, so he winds up getting some more carries, but they’re playing as 1-2, and I don’t know who is One and I don’t know who is Two. They’re doing great.”

Carson’s been productive all season for the Seahawks while Penny’s picked things up more recently to establish the 1-2 punch that Carroll talked about after the win. That makes Seattle a deeper offensive threat at a crucial point in the schedule and both backs should be in line for heavy roles against the Rams next weekend.

  1. The Seahawk oline absolutely dominated the Vikings dline last night. Don’t get me wrong, the backs are strong tough runners, but there were great holes for them to hit almost all game long.

  2. “so much fun”

Petey Carroll hugging coaches during a close game on the sidelines as Lane Johnson approves.

It’s no wonder these people can only win one SB. Ego.

  3. That is one awesome team that Pete C. commands! His time with Bud Grant was well spent and his love of his team shows on every down, win or lose. Would love to see the Vikes vs Seattle at the NFC Championship game. It appears the Vikes have the best team in the stable to make that possible. SKOL!!!

I was with you until the last sentence. There are three other team in the NFC better than the Vikes but I’d NEVER expect one of their fans to admit that, fans of teams all have tunnel vision towards their team and like to think they’re better than what they really are!

BTW the three better NFC teams are the Saints, 49ers and one you hate to hear the Pack, they’ve beat the Vikes once already and are 3-0 in the division where the Vikes are 1-2, so far it looks like the only division rival the Vikes can beat is the Lions!

Seahawks, Ravens, 49ers all have a good running game with more than one back.

And there you have it, 3 of the 4 best teams in the league have 1 thing in common

You wont get far in todays NFL without a top run game. So sick of these talking heads ” oh its a passing league”, I call bs

No doubt you’re in that group as well and nice try, but anyway, Vikes can match up well and beat all three of your mentioned betters. The cheeser’s are the easiest of the trio and Vikes will dispatch them on the next match.

  8. The Vikings 3 times their DT didn’t play his lane & tried to get fancy. 3 times Seattle ran for huge yardage where Stephan was supposed to be. The Vikings defense is undisciplined and instead of covering their position they try to make something happened & get dissected. Same way the Chiefs got a 91 yd TD. The tackle out of position. The Vikings really miss Richardson. Zim’s defense is too reliant on 1 on 1 matchups for the CB’s & if the front 4 don’t get pressure, then passes will rain down all game.
